Hi everyone! We're Monika from Lithuania and Ian from Scotland, currently living in Edinburgh and looking forward to our travel to Peru.

A bit about Monika: I'm a psychology graduate, currently working in a care home and volunteering in a suicide hotline, but looking forward to studying psychotherapy next year. If I had to describe myself, I would say I'm a calm soul with a good sense of humour. Music is a big part of my life and I enjoy playing piano, djembe and singing. I love nature and all kinds of activities in nature, especially hiking mountains and camping, watching the wildlife.

During my travels I'm interested in learning more about plant medicine therapies from people who have been practicing it in their countries. I am also interested in learning icaros (medicine songs). I could help with gardening, cooking (though I cook vegan food only), working with animals, or supporting/working with people, since I've been working in a care home and volunteering in a suicide hotline for the last two years. I'm also open to any other jobs and I'm a quick learner.

A bit about Ian: I spent a lot of my life working in bars and hotels/hotel management but I am currently working with dogs. Dog are such amazing being and I think we can definitely learn a lot from them. Music is a big part of my life - I love playing guitar and have a reggae sound system here in Edinburgh which we started with friends. We also go DJ'ing to various pubs, fundraisers and festivals and we just released a vinyl! Comedy is also a big part of my life and l believe that life is fun and it's even more fun if you laugh a lot.

I'm looking forward to learning about Peruvian culture and experiencing a different way of living. I'm open to help out in any way and learn new things!

Monika: I have worked in a care home and volunteered in a suicide hotline and this helped me develop people skills. I am comfortable to work with people in difficult/different mind states.
I have been doing pet sitting, volunteering/working in a farm animal sanctuary, a cat/dog shelter and have been around horses for several years so I am familiar with different kinds of animals and am comfortable to take care of them.
I have worked in several vegan restaurants so am able to cook vegan food.
I play piano, sing and play a little bit of djembe, so can teach basics of these instruments or music in general.
I have done a bit of gardening in different places so will be happy to help with plants as well.
And lastly - I am able to keep a house tidy :)

Ian: Since I've worked in hotels for a long time, I'm a good at making people feel welcome and taken care of (I could use this skill if working in a hostel or retreat centre etc)
I have experience with dogs (I used to work in a doggy day centre and now am a dog walker) so I would be able to help out with dogs.
I'm good with computers and technology so I can help you out with that.
I also can teach English, since it's my native language.
I would also be able to help with any tasks like gardening, cleaning and cooking. However, I cannot help with tasks that require heavy lifting, since I have a medical condition that does not permit it.
