Hello everyone!

My name is Matt, and I'm 24 years old. I have been living in Texas for just over a year. Before moving here, I spent the majority of my life in Nebraska. I have family all over the U.S., and have travelled extensively throughout the country. I have not yet travelled outside of the U.S., however.

I am someone whose mind is always active. I am curious, open-minded, and not easily satisfied with my own understanding. I have many interests, which is exhausting at times, but I am grateful for this eclecticism. I enjoy immersing myself in interests and ideas that are unfamiliar, especially with someone that is passionate and eager to share.

A persistent interest of mine over the years has been the French language. It all began with two years of French in high school, which was not nearly enough to satisfy me! Some time has passed since then, but the resolve to learn the language has never left me. Recently, I've begun studying French again and speaking with Francophones online. This summer, I will finally be visiting France for the first time. My main goal for this trip is to turn this interest into action, offering myself in any way that I can in service of others. I am looking for hosts and workawayers who are patient and eager to share their language, culture, and selves with me.

One of my main goals for my first workaway experience is to improve my French through daily usage. I would be more than happy to teach others English or to help a host improve their English. I am open to learning other languages as well.

For most of my adult life, I have worked in customer service and the food service industry. I have completed a couple years of university education in computer science, which I will be resuming soon. I am a skilled writer, and I am not afraid of speaking in front of an audience when necessary, assuming I am speaking English. My French is elementary, but I am eager to apply it and improve my proficiency. I am adept with computers, but I also enjoy physical work outdoors. I am in good physical shape and enjoy running and hiking in my free time. I also enjoy playing piano and photography, among other interests.
