Description
Hola hola
I have an on and off member of workaway since 2018 and can say it has changed my life (for the better). It has become my favourite way of travelling and I have found it invaluable for meeting likeminded people and hands on learning of important skills.
I am half spanish half english and have lived half my life in northern england and half my life in southern spain. Im fluent in both languages. I was learning Turkish, and I would like to start learning French and/or Portuguese at some point.
I've never fared well in education. I'm an animal that does not thrive in captivity, unfortunately. I never finished my degrees in Anthropology or Forestry Management but I keep my knowledge and love of both the humanities and ecology.
Cooking and hospitality are my other loves, for me there's few things better than seeing a full table of happy well fed people and I've been cooking for some 9 years now, and professionally for about 4.
In my life I would like to see myself moving towards a more ecological, sustainable and humanitarian way of life. It brings me a lot of pain to see the damage we are collectively inflicting on our home. But I also have a lot of hope because I know I am not alone in this desire to move towards a position of healing and greater harmony with both nature and ourselves. My spirituality is private but I am always open to sharing and/or creating and opening spaces for spiritual expression.
Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope your day goes well. -

More details about your skills
jack of all trades (master of none)
I grew up helping my dad with construction and garden work out in the countryside, and from my forestry degree and volunteering at homesteads:
Cement mixing, digging, shovelling, landscaping, pruning, chainsawing, plastering, painting, tree planting, mowing, bricklaying, pipe laying, use of machinery, tear-downs, furniture moving... A skill I am proud is how to use a scythe.
I've had many stays volunteering and working in hospitality:
Setting tables, housecleaning, pool maintenance, cleaning rooms, setting beds, attending to clients, reception...
I've worked with animals:
Large dogs, I love cats (not really a skill I guess?). Used to keep chickens. Worked with horses for 6 months. Cleaning stables, brushing, feeding, saddling and handling. Limited experience with pigs and cows, did a month long workaway at a smallholder dairy farm: feeding the cows, taking them out to pasture and back to the stable and moving the pasture fences. Was shown how milking works but did not get hands on experience.
The only skill I have confidence in at a professional level would be cooking, for both individuals and large groups. I am familiar with vegetarian and vegan recipes. -

From the get go the people are very helpful and understanding, fitting into the routine was smooth and easy. The place is gorgeous, a little Buddhist castle nestled in the green, green pre-alps, where you can walk and wander to your hearts content. If you have even the slightest interest in … read more
Incredible place tended to by incredibly people, so much so I had to go twice. Andreas is fun, patient and thoughtful; an all round amazing guy to be around who gives off infectious good vibes and positive energy. He is at the same time a wise teacher if you need to … read more
