My next destination:
Australia - from Feb 2024 until May 2024 View allDescription
Hello, my name is Mads Damm. I'm 27, from Denmark, and I am looking to find the place to take my next step towards..
Teşekküler for reading! :-P
Back home I used to live in a city called Aalborg. There I worked as a handicap carer, at a kids play-land called Leos Legeland, and as a ice-cream truck driver / salesperson. Three good jobs that each has taught me something, as well as kept me busy on an upwards spiral.
By now I have lived in Istanbul for 3 weeks, working as an english teacher at an English spoken café.
Being here has woken a curiosity in me. About Türkey, about Islam, and about what lies beyond Istanbul.
I would love to experience more.
I would be especially interested, in doing work that serves some function in helping others. 🙏✨
Teaching people english, for example, gives me a purposeful feeling, of contributing to others.
I would also count it a huge plus, if there are animals and nature around too! 🌿
... But, overall
Where-ever I end up going next, I hope that there is a good sense of community.
The best part of any of my trips so far, has always been meeting the people there..! 👨👩👧👦✨👨👩👧👦
I am looking forward to finding this next task to grow with, and to hopefully being the right workawayer, to help you and your vision. 🌟
Adding positivity & dedicaded work to it.
Feel free to shoot me a message out of the blue, I would be excited to read about your project, where-ever that may be in the world..!
Thank you,
& Cheers

As far as spare-time activities goes, i’ve branched out and tried different things.
Cooking class, where I went to learn the basics of cooking. Which has been great, in establishing a habit of eating well, to try to give the body what it needs.
Guitar playing, i’ve enjoyed trying to get a hang of. I'm not very good, but would like to learn more. There's something really cool and flow-state inducing, about strumming out music for yourself.
Drawing/painting, is a fun, yet very focus-intense passtime, that also has taught me something about how my brain works. Much with geometrical shapes, making up patterns as I go, putting the lines where, by my logic, they fit. 📏
I don't draw often, but when I do, its for 3 hyperfocused hours, forgetting that I made tea.. Which is now cold.. 😌
Yoga, I got introduced to by a friend, In Aalborg.
She, my friend, was practicing at a yoga place, while training to becoming a yoga teacher. One day because of my curiosity, she brought me there, and man, even just walking in there had an air of calm to it.
With a very open & welcoming group of people to go along. And since it is also just.. practically a Great way to stretch, I started practicing there regularly.
It became a really enriching and beneficial habit for me. ✨
I still practise it, and its even better done together, so come along anytime. 😃🙏
Lets throw in a bad habit too, to have the text give off less of a golden gloss vibe:
I smoked my first cigarette when I was 16. My buddy from school had nicked a couple Red Cecil from his grandma, who in later years would just give them to us.
Me and a couple other friends, would between classes sneak behind the school and light up. There was a rush of adrenaline, mixed with nicotine, of doing something that we weren’t supposed to, which was exciting.
Since back then, I have had an on/off relation to nicotine.
Nowadays', it’s something I use and enjoy, more mindfully, when there's occasion for it. For example along with a beer, or a one-cube whisky - a ciggy follows naturally.
I do not smoke in my every day.
In periods I have used snus or e-cigarettes more casually, but generally I keep nicotine use to a minimum.
Chess, I began playing with a neighbor I met, when I first moved to Aalborg.
I hadn’t played since I was a kid, when my uncle taught me what the pieces could do and such. He used to run the queen out early, find a weakness in my non-suspecting pawn-structure, and slaughter my back line of rooks and horses.
my neighbor and I were both equally non-practiced (bad), so our couple games were a lot of fun.
He suggested to download an app called Chess.com, which he was using, if I was up for playing more;
"For sure man. 🙌"
And after a while, and a few hundred games against him, and other players online, I thought why not see if Aalborg had a chessclub.
They did, I tried it out.
I met a bunch of good friends there.
Aswell as definitely having learned more about chess than when I started.
I'm still only closing in on being rated a thousand, which is a little milestone I’ve got set for me.
The social aspect of it, is what I have appreciated most about it, more-so than the game itself.
An interesting, and sometimes really gripping & fun boardgame, but not something I'm aspiring to be great at.
Another thing that I particularly enjoy, while finding useful and engaging, is writing.
I’ve been somewhat consistant in writing a few pages every day, for the past two years.
Having before felt like it could be a struggle putting my thoughts into words, It feels worthwhile practicing, writing sentences down on paper/screen.
More or less Im free-flow writing out whatever is there, to be given language.
Danish or english.
Over time also seeing how ive gotten a lot faster & more precise, tapping out words on the keyboard.
Progress! 👏
I feel that this practice has given me a lot, and it is something I wanna continue to explore, and grow with..
Specifically Im looking to learn more techniques, on how to edit my texts.
Its a process, and im loving it. 😃🌟
Thank you for reading, feel free to reach out, and I wish you the best with your project, or travels, regardless if we ever meet or not. Have a good one.
Cheers. 🌿🌟Age
