Hello,
My name is Lena and I am 25 years old living in a village in Germany. I guess Dortmund is the nearest biggest city you might know. :)
I have one little sister called Sophie (*2003) which is currently studying Geography in Bonn.
After graduation of school I have done a trainee ship as an industrial clark in summer 2016-January 2019. I am still working in the company and responsible for the serial production in export sales.
After work I am studying on a distance learning university.
In my freetime I really enjoing spending time with my friends, playing and teaching the flute in an orchestra and playing soccer. I also love swimming and go skiing in the winter season.
I love travelling at the most because of meeting new people and cultures and always looking forward to make new experiences.

-sitting kids (my friends and family have also young kids, in high school I teached kids in Mathematics, English and German and teaching kids in playing the flute starting 2013)
-farm live (living in a rural region and grandparents of both sides of my parents have had a little farm and fir tree cultivation, timely I also riding a horse)
-gastronomy (As a part-time job I am working at an inn. We are having ,à la carte‘-dinner once a month, other times we are a location for especially weddings. It is a family business in a converted old mill/grange.)

I stayed from beginning of December to beginning of January and it was one of the beautiful kind of Christmas gifts.

Johanna and her family are very open minded, lovely, friendly, funny and polite. This was my first Workaway-experience and I am happy to have made such a good one.

Starting the first moment we met we had a good connection and it… read more felt like knowing each other already for a while and not just one or two days. I was like a fifth (or including the both dogs seventh) family member.
Also the kids Kukka and Otto are so amazing. During the time I stayed we did several activities like baking together, celebrated Otto’s ninth birthday and I taught Kukka in her already awesome skills in playing the flute.

I was always invited to join all activities but never felt pushed to do.

In general the family is very musical and sporty but also enjoying taking cozy family time together like playing games or the pizza & movie night every Friday.

They supported me with all the activities I was interested to do and always offered their help and knowledge. While I stayed in Tampere I also visited Helsinki, Tallinn in Estonia, Stockholm in Sweden and other villages around Tampere. They let me know many things about the city and other places and I really got to know the Finnish culture and their daily life.

Unfortunately, the family got ill just before Christmas but they were very careful and worried and, nevertheless, we had a wonderful Christmas which I really never will forget.

We played the instruments together and also phoned with part of my family in Germany.

They always were interested in my usual life in Germany, family and friends and looked after my possible wishes and needs without asking for.

I have some allergies and it was not a problem at no time. From starting of my stay they affirmed me to cook the things (also for the whole family) I am also able to eat and if they prepared some food they quite naturally took consideration. Such a big thank you!

My general tasks at the family were walking with the dogs, cooking for the family and taking care of the house (cleaning, painting etc.). One main point was the cleaning and new sorting of the kitchen.

Johanna, Toni, Kukka, Otto, Mauno and Mimmi, thank you for the special and amazing stay.

I am more than thankful for our time together and really looking forward to hopefully see you again in future.
