Description
My name is Luke, from Ireland. I have traveled, worked and lived abroad and taken part in several workaway opportunities before and I am open to doing so again. I have a degree in Product Design and Technology, and have worked in the field of engineering, but also started designing, making and selling my own furniture since then, and also construction and building small shelters and structures. I also have education in Architecture and Interior Design. But I have lived and worked in London, Munich and San Francisco, Iceland and Colombia.
I have helped workaway hosts a couple of times in Iceland and a couple of times in Colombia, so I am well used to the situation of what to do and what to expect. All occasions were a great experience, where I was able to contribute and learn a lot from my hosts.
My home house is a farm in Tipperary Ireland where my parents live, where I have grown up with animals of all sorts, dogs and farm animals and wild animals. I also have experience in tree planting and forestry, as we planted 20,000 native Irish trees on our farm, as part of a rewilding project for enhancing biodiversity. My own workshop is based on the farm, where I have experience with a large selection of hand, power tools and machinery. Skills include woodworking, metalworking, welding. I also try and do my own website designs, graphic designs and photography. I am active and fit and enjoy playing sports, and I can also turn my hand to handy work. I am used to working on cars machinery and mechanical work.
Odd jobs over the years have included tent rigging, to working on a dairy farm making ice cream in Ireland, working in a beer garden in Munich, and working for a handy-man builder in London, building furniture for a hostel in Colombia.Interests
