  • Description

Hi, I'm Isabelle, nice to meet you!
I'm a passionate traveller with a base camp in Germany. Because even though I love my country, I decided that I lived there long enough and want to see the rest of the world now. So I started my travel life almost 3 years ago while working remotely as a content creator. I've travelled to several countries in Europe, America, Asia, and Australia and wrote for multiple websites, blogs, and customers. Because the things that bring me the most joy are writing, travelling, music, meeting new people, and gaining new experiences.
I've done different side jobs during my travels - including waitressing, dog sitting, construction work, volunteering in hostels, and even helping out in a post office - because I love to learn, stay busy, and experience new adventures. This is also why I signed up on workaway and why I am now looking forward to what opportunities might arise and what people I will meet.

  • More details about your skills

I studied German and English and am working as a freelance copywriter, so I have a lot of experience with writing, editing, and translating. I also worked in marketing for a couple of years and gained some design, website building, and social media skills.

As a side job during university and during my travels, I often worked in hospitality as a waitress, food runner, bartender, ice scooper, and kitchen hand.

Especially during my working holiday visa, but also back in Germany, I did a lot of occasional work, too. I helped renovating a house, building a fence, and doing painting tasks. I volunteered in different hostels, where I helped with the cleaning, reception work, food preparation, and entertainment. And I did some housesitting, where I took care of the pets (mainly dogs), the garden, and the cleaning.

Other skills of mine that are more and less useful are: I can drive a manual car, I can organize everything, I can adapt to most situations - from living in a 20 bed dorm with 5 spiders to slowly running out of water on a solo hike through Jordan's desert - and I rock in braiding hair.

  • What else ...

    I love:

    - Travelling: I've been travelling since October 2020. I volunteered for 3 months in a hostel in Portugal, I lived half a year in magical Mexico, I travelled for 7 weeks through the states with my best friend in a car that was not designed to host two people, I did a solo-trip on a motorbike through northern Vietnam, I hitchhiked across Australia, and saw many places in between

    - Music: I always have a song stuck in my head, went to five festivals already this summer, and am equally passionate about punk, rock, techno, and everything in between as long it causes the air to vibrate

    - Books: I studied German and English but did all of the required reading already in high school, I always carry a book with me, and I made a pact with a friend that whoever wins the lottery first has to use that money to gain us entry to the library of the history of human imagination
