  • Description

I am a hardworking, enthusiastic, smiley and caring young woman, and I will be travelling in South East Asia on a 5 week trip (a long holiday away from my job as a graphic designer in the UK) I would like to spend around 2 weeks of my trip on a volunteering placement. Either at the end of October of mid-late November.

****Skills/experience from current and previous jobs include:

*****
graphic design / web design / social media marketing / branding / illustration / mural painting / gardening / teaching / workshop facilitation / creative art practices / admin and receptionist / cooking in commercial kitchen / bar and waiting experience / professional childcare and babysitting (over 5 years experience)

I’m particularly interested to find a placement that focuses on art, creativity, workshops, mindfulness and wellbeing or eco-consciousness. I have experience facilitating creative workshops and co-design, through my job, and this is something I would like to share with others, internationally. I also love to cook, so anything that involves cooking, or food as a cultural exchange is very appealing to me too!

I have loved my past workaway experiences, as it's great to have the new experiences and connect with the local way of life, and give something back to communities; something that is not always possible when traveling as a tourist. I feel I'm a very sociable and happy person, and I love to be around people. I'm willing to lend a hand wherever possible and learn new skills along the way.

    *****Previous workaday volunteering experience:
*****
    - I have cared for children (as a Nanny in the Galapagos for 7 weeeks)
    - General maintainence, cleaning, cooking and childcare at an eco hostel in Manizales, Colombia

- Teaching English to school children in rural Central Java, Indonesia

- Teaching English at a college to students and hosting conversational classes with teachers, in Florencia, Colombia

    - Working in a Vietnamese English speaking cafe, Da Nang, Vietnam

- Worked on a rural, secluded colonial estate. Renovating the house, painting, gardening and maintenance - this involved communal co-living with a large group of volunteers. (We even constructed a DIY natural sauna!)

(a few of these experiences were on a different closed account - so the feedback isn’t displayed on my profile - but feel free to ask me for more information)
