Description

We are 22 years old (French and Canadian) engineering students backpacking all around South America for a year.
We are curious, adventurous and open-minded, always looking forward to the next challenge. I love meeting new people and learning new skills. We realise how fortunate we are to be able to be able to take a year off and would like to give back through volunteering experiences.
We love nature and are strongly motivated by having a positive environmental impact. We love being outdoors, whether it is to ski, to swim, to surf, to trek or to camp. We have no problems living in rustic conditions.
Eloi has previously volunteered with different NGOs and with WWOOFing and have loved every experience so far.
Hélia is very interested in learning sustainable practices, such as permaculture.
Most importantly, we want to discover new cultures and local ways of living.
We look forward to the next adventure!

French is our mother tongue, but we're also fluent in English (Éloi is Canadian and Hélia studied in an international high school). We are both looking forward to developing our Spanish skills, so we would love to have conversations in Spanish ! Hélia also speaks German so any practice would be appreciated :)

More details about your skills

We are both students in energy and environmental engineering. We are hard working and quick learners. We both like to get our hands dirty and love learning new skills. We are always in the kitchen making home cooked meals and would love to cook meals for our hosts.
We both have good people skills and can adapt ourselves to many different types of environments. Both of us are physically in shape ; Eloi plays football (soccer) and Hélia plays badminton and we both hike a lot.


Eloi has some experience with manual labour : he has built a wood shelter, has volunteered for some urban farms, has helped build a school in Guatemala using recycled materials and has done 2 weeks of WWOOFing in Japan on a chicken and rice farm. He also has advanced video making skills and has made many different videos for different associations. Eloi has volunteered for a year in an underprivileged community, mentoring and helping a young child with their physics, math and english classes.
Hélia has been very involved in different associations at her University. She has learned to coordinate different groups, has been involved in the sustainable development of a big athletic event. Furthermore, she likes photography. She also likes small crafts, like pottery or crocheting. She also has basic notions of gardening. Hélia has done tutoring for first year university level math and chemistry.
