I love travelling and getting to know the locals. I've been on extensive trips to many european countries, Egypt, Thailand, Domenican Republic, USA and New Zealand before. My gap year from my main employment started October 2022 and I have been traveling 11 countries in Africa, Seychelles, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and Japan since then and will continue to travel around the world. I'm a non-smoker and drink zero alcohol (yeah, I know, I'm boring). I love hiking and exploring, though I'm quite afraid of hights and won't climb steep angles. I'm more of a "flat country" person and love the sea more than I do mountains, though I still like to see them on shorter visits.
I love being in natural, rural areas and with animals. I grew up next to a farm and went to help the farmer with his pigs and milk cows at an age of 6. About the same time I began riding horses. My heart belongs especially to gaited horses. By now I have a german trail riding trainer licence and own a young icelandig gelding. I've also had cats for the last 15 years and love dogs (as long as they're well behaved). I love teaching grown up people about the basics of horses needs and training. I'm not really good with children (might be why I have none), though children mostly like me. ;)
Futhermore I love creating things. I might not be the very best at knitting, sewing or papercrafting but I can still manage a stitch, seam or fold. I've created a lot of historical and fantasy costumes for medieval or fantasy fairs over the years. I also love to cook (especially for other people) and try new recipes but I'm absolutely hopeles at baking ^^ My main job before starting my gap year was IT Consultant. I'm quite capable with any software (though I'm no graphic designer or video artist), and can set up and maintain websites or social media canals. I'm a subject matter expert in Identity- and Access Management, IT Service Management and Information Security, though I wouldn't want to do that in my gap year. Last but not Least I'm fluently speaking three languages (German, English and Dutch) and know basics in two more (French and Spanish). I've been translating books and educational online videos (mainly horse related) between my main three languages for 4 years now.

I would love to learn more Spanish and French (preferably without mixing the two) and can teach English and German in return. In Dutch I'm not firm enough with the grammar rules, so teaching that would be more to get a feeling for the language. I still know a lot of vocabulary ;)Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn
