Hosts can contact me about working with horses, charity work, and also interested in paid jobs.
Preference goes out to hosts with a clear work schedule, clarity about my tasks and good priorities (like the animals always come first)
Hi there,
I'm Fien a young woman from Belgium.
At the moment I live in the city, but at heart, I'm a country girl.
I enjoy life and used to do some out-of-the-ordinary things with it, following the path well-known wasn't really my thing.
I'd love to volunteer at a farm, where there are other workawayers. I'm looking for good vibes, good times, lots of fun and enough free time to explore the area.
I'd love to put my horsemanship skills to work and even improve them by training your horses at liberty or groundwork if needed. Maybe even gentle (saddle breaking in old terms) the horse to be ridden if the accommodation allows it and the horse is pretty calm. My dream is to work with an unhandled horse or a youngster who hasn't had much training. Problem horses are also welcome as I'm interested in problem-solving.
I could also bring my photography skills to the table if you need content for your social media or your website.
Maybe why exactly I want to do a workaway?
I just love farms, used to work on them all the time, love animals immensely and feel ready to do that again, but not at a commercial farm. Something I know I can handle like a homestead. I can drive a tractor btw and I love cleaning stuff up. Like a big yard where things are overgrown trees that need to be cut, the big jobs that make a big difference you know, taking stuff to the scrapyard. I am a handywoman and have some skills, but will mostly figure everything out via youtube if I don't know something. Dirty work doesn't scare me, I love it! I must say, I love it but with the right tools, don't let me cut your grass with scissors, please. It is just an example. If we need to cut down a lot of trees, make sure there is a good chainsaw and not a dull axe. Then work stays fun :) That kind of thing.
If there is anything else you would like to ask me just go ahead. Happy to answer.
What you'd get from me is someone who is super happy to help, finally after all these years working on a farm again! I can't wait to pull the weeds, feed the animals and build stuff, I love it and I missed it.
Kind regards,
Fien from Gent - Belgium

-I am a skilled photographer with a degree as a professional photographer.
-Parelli Natural Horsemanship level 3
-Used to ride horses for 10 years, owned my own horse for more than 4 years
-Worked as a working student for 1 and a half years on a horse stable and managed the place. There were about 10 horses permanently on sight and when there were courses there were about 20 horses I took care of.
-I've done an internship at a dairy farm for 6 months. This was for school. I used to follow animal- and agricultural sciences.
-I used to work at a farm with beef cows and bulls. (2years)
They also had sheep to breed with and as well for consumption, had chickens and horses who they bred with.
The horses were often unhandled, my job was to get them used to humans/ being able to be handled and a lot more.
I also helped with all the other jobs at the farm like ploughing the field, getting the hay from the land and fixing fences.
-I also worked at an organic farm and worked in the field as well as sold their veggies at the markets.
-Restoring wooden/veneer furniture that has damage and making it as new again. WoodworkingAge

What else ...
-My hobby is weightlifting, if there is a gym nearby I'd love love love to join that gym.
-Every year I take in wild kittens and their mom from the shelter, so if there are kittens, I'd love to take good care of them.
-I will travel towards you in my own car and bring my own tent and sleeping matras with me.Some more information

Special dietary requirements
-If possible I'd rather get a food budget like 10 euro/worked day and cook for myself instead of cooking together, because I don't have a regular eating shedule and like a high protein vegeterian diet that works with my weightlifting.

Fien came to us to enable our visit to the UK, her skills with the animals were excellent as was her attitude to helping while we were there. The 5 starts are more than well deserved if it would be possible I'd give 10 stars!
Where to begin? Sue and Steve are awesome, great conversationalists, sweet, chill, hard-working people who equally as hard enjoy life. Sue used to work with polo ponies in a high-class circuit, met the… read more
