  • Description

    Hi,

My name is Emiel, 30 years old, currently living in the countryside in Lichtenvoorde (the Netherlands). I grew up there as well with my parents, sisters and one brother. As a little boy I loved spending time in the nature, building small huts or climbing trees. I have a passion for animals and I grew up with many (dogs, rabbits, fish and more), I am from a age of 16 a volunteer for building flower floats each year (this is a event in Lichtenvoorde, (check photos)). I'm also a sport enthusiast (hiking, swimming, walking, cycling and play soccer) who loves to eat healty food and.. not surprisingly I also like to travel arround the world and meet new people so I can learn from them en have great experiences with each other!

I studied Animal and Behaviour and Carpentry. After a couple years of working in several industries and functions, the latest as a solar panel installer. I’ve decided to jump into a new adventure as a volunteer so I can learn new skills, live closer to nature and learn how to live a more sustainable lifestyle. And hopefully I can rediscovering myself in work and living so that I really know what I find most important and continue with that in my life.

Friends and family will describe me as a friendly giant, a honest person with a big heart for animals and people, a person who is always there for others and someone you can build on.

Thank you for reading this and I hope I can help you and have a nice time together! ☀️

  • More details about your skills

I am educated as a zookeeper (I can take care for companion, zoo and farm animals). I am also educated for assistant carpenter (I am not a full learned carpenter, but I have two right hands and I learn very quickly).

At my voluntary work, I am a point of contact and supervisor for the people with whom I make a flower parade float together. I help and teach them to weld and form the float. I also work with wood, alternative material and often I work on the flower field where we grow dahlias. I do this with a lot of passion. It is one of the hobbies I do the most (see photos).

I have an affinity with people with disabilities (including children and the elderly). I have a lot of patience to teach people something and I am often the listening ear for people. I want to help them where I can. I have done several internships where I could work with these lovely people with disabilities and guide them during their daily activities at the care farm and petting zoo. I helped them with feeding the animals, taking care of them, chopping wood, being creative and a lot more. This is something that I really liked. Especially when you see a smile from a client and you have achieved or made something together. That gives a very nice and satisfied feeling. And that's what you do it for.

I am certainly open for many different activities. I am not averse to hard work. "D'ran" is a word that we use a lot in our region (Achterhoek in the Netherlands). It means we don't complain and we work hard for it.

I am always curious and excited to learn a lot of new things! ☀️
