Hi, I'm Dan (27) from Cape Town, South Africa.
I am currently traveling the world, with the hope of eventually finding a more permanent place to settle down in.
The thing I value most in life is connection with others. I feel that travel connects me with people in a deeply sincere way. Being immersed in other cultures, and having the opportunity to experience new ways of living, are things that I feel are incredibly important to me, as I am constantly in a process of learning more about others, and myself. I feel most fulfilled when I am being of service to others. I think that volunteering, and doing any form of service, is what drives us as humans, creating the sense of community that I feel we all need.Interests

I have a passion for photography, specifically portrait photography. I am always willing and able to take photos for hosts, whether of properties, projects, or for marketing. I did a photography course after high school, and consider it to be one of my strongest skills.
I have spent a lot of time in my hometown, Cape Town, South Africa, volunteering at various dog and cat shelters (namely TEARS Cattery, and Plumpets, among others). I have also volunteered for JunkStars, which is an NPO focused on recycling trash, and using the profits to fund educational improvements in impoverished communities (such as greater access to school books, etc).
I have also spent time working on a farm, owned by my Uncle and Aunt, which involved extensive manual labour, gardening, house maintenance, and a lot of patience!
English is another passion of mine. I have a TEFL certificate, and am qualified to teach English as a foreign language. I also have a knack for learning other languages, and always make an effort to learn the local language of any countries I visit...or at least try to learn as much as I can.
I am a very fast learner, and feel that I can adapt very quickly to new environments. I think that this is a huge asset for me as a volunteer, as I can slot right into whatever role is required of me. I also have a keen attention to detail, which I suppose links to my interest in photography.
I am quite a perfectionist, which can lead to huge amounts of productivity, but also disappointment at times. I would consider that to be my greatest weakness.Age

Javier was such a kind and welcoming host, and really made this place feel like home for me. Teresa is also so lovely, and a great person to practise Spanish with.
