Description

We are Dan and Jen, a couple from the UK who got engaged earlier this year.
We recently left our flat in Suffolk, England, to embark on an adventure of a lifetime, travelling around Australia.
We are starting in WA with the intention of buying a campervan to take us on our adventure, whilst experiencing workaways, volunteering opportunities and housesitting along the way.

We enjoy a lot of the same things, from paddle boarding and walks in the woods to challenging each other at chess and chilling out to our shared love of synth wave music.

We love camping under the stars, the wilder the better and cooking over an open fire. Jen is chief fire builder and Dan cooks a mean BBQ.
We are huge outdoor lovers and we find there is nothing better than exploring and embracing all that nature has to offer.

Gday, I'm Dan!

I'm a 42 year old guy who is fortunate to also hold Australian citizenship. I lived in Perth as a child, and whilst I've returned many times for short holidays, I have always dreamed of returning as an adult for an extended period, to fully embrace and explore this beautiful land of Australia.

I'm an avid photographer who specifically likes taking pictures of sunsets and landscapes. I have worked hard to nurture this hobby over the last 10 years; I'd be more than happy to share this knowledge with others. I enjoy reading adventure novels and self development books. I also enjoy gardening and I have a dream to learn how to play the saxophone one day.

Throughout my career, I have worked in a number of responsible roles, such as an emergency control room operator for the UK Police Force and most recently, as an Elections Manager for local government. I have 12+ years experience of being a manager and I really enjoy co-ordinating projects, mentoring people and working to achieve positive outcomes. I have a wealth of experience with office based roles and I have used numerous packages of technology over the years, most notably Microsoft Office. I am a trustworthy, hardworking, organised and capable individual.

Whilst I have enjoyed my varied career, I am keen to step outside my comfort zone, learn some new skills and be more hands on and outside. I believe that travelling around Australia will be the perfect opportunity to expand my horizons and skillset, whilst using my own transferable skills to help others on our journey.

Hi, Jen here!
I am 35 years old. I'm a creative, arty person and a quite literal tree hugger!
I absolutely adore animals and enjoy connecting with them and taking the time to get to know their individual quirks and personalities.

I am a very hands on girl and I can turn my hands to most things. I relish in learning new things and I'm always keen to get stuck in and get my hands dirty.
I love to get lost in a book (both fact and fiction) and I would like to begin practicing yoga and learning more about alternative therapies. I enjoy working with wood, although I have not yet had much opportunity to do so and I would like to learn to whittle while we are on our travels.

I have worked for private clients managing their family estates, running their homes, tending to their gardens, raising their animals and even being their private chauffeur . I have worked in hospitality, running pubs and restaurants, worked on a farm picking turnips and driving tractors and gained my UK fork lift licence this year.
I have enjoyed lots of gardening work and particularly love working outside.

I Spent 9 months travelling around France in a camper van when I was 18, starting on the west coast, down across the south and ending in the Alps where I worked my first ski season. I now have 5 winter seasons under my belt, running chalets of up to 15 guests.
