  • Description

    Hiya!

I'm Amy - I'm curious about everything and I LOVE learning.

I studied biomedical science, and I'm specifically interested in biochemistry and neuroscience. I also went to art school - I love ceramics, illustration, painting, papercutting, and pretty much anything creative or practical.

I'm pretty active - cycling, hiking, martial arts and climbing in particular. I've completed a few solo cycle tours, including from Geneva to Bristol wild camping and mostly using the sun for navigation.

Originally from Scotland, I've lived in a few places including Bristol, Bath, Nepal and Italy. I greatly enjoy travelling, meeting new people, immersing myself in different cultures and learning from others.

I've been working in neuro physio and mental health in the UK for the last couple of years, and I'm currently taking a break to travel and broaden my knowledge of this world before I return to further study or science.

I'm ALWAYS trying (and mostly failing) to find more time for my science illustration. (I'm convinced that I'm an introvert despite the fact that I'm usually found socialising). Ask me about it, hopefully by the time you read this I've made more progress!

    DIY/ BUILDING
I'm very practical - I grew up playing in my dad's carpentry workshop, and I'm very quick to learn.

I helped to build a cycle powered washing machine at an eco village in Spain. And if I don't have direct experience, I can usually work out most things. I really value being methodical and careful so that the things I make and repair work efficiently and for a long time. I can also service bikes.

    COOKING
I used to run my own small business cooking healthy plant based meals. I'm pretty good at making anything I find into something nutritious and tasty. I can bake too.

    CHILDREN
I have lots of experience nannying and au pairing, and I love spending time with children.

I'm very happy to share my knowledge and interests in art and in medical science. I'm not a doctor, but hopefully I can answer most biomedical questions (the ones that have answers at least!). I can also read tarot.
