Hello friends! Thanks for checking out our profile.

We’re Andrew and Isabella, both 30 years old and from the United States. We're “college sweethearts” (we met at 18!) and have been happily married for 4 years. Former engineers - Andrew studied Mechanical Engineering at university, and Isabella studied Industrial Engineering - we both became business professionals. Most recently, Andrew was an operations manager / data analyst, and Isabella did business development and marketing for a responsible tourism business in Fiji.

We quit our jobs in May 2023 and have been happily travelling/volunteering ever since. While we're relatively new to Workaway, we did some similar volunteer exchanges through HelpX this summer. We volunteered for two weeks on a canal boat in France and for three months at an Outdoor Education Center for kids / teens in Scotland!

We are currently exploring South America while practicing our Spanish and making authentic connections with others. We speak Spanish at an intermediate level and recently took 6 weeks of Spanish classes in Peru. Later this year, we are also interested in spending time on the water, whether that be on a sailboat, powerboat, or paddling.

In general, we both value laughter, learning new things, exploring new places, and getting to know new people! Kindness, compassion, and the ability to laugh at yourself are very important to both of us. We are joyful people and love to dance, especially at weddings.

[Isabella]
I'm very creative and love working with my hands. I dabble in all kinds of crafts, from sewing to painting to restoring furniture. I particularly enjoy fixing or repurposing old things (I hate waste!) - for example, my wedding dress was a thrift store find I altered myself. My favorite craft is cooking; I'm constantly trying new recipes and techniques from around the world, and nothing brings me more joy than cooking a good meal for friends or family.

I'm a very driven person who loves a good challenge. I love being outdoors, whether that's relaxing by the water or enjoying one of my many outdoor sports. I grew up waterskiing, but in recent years have gravitated towards mountain sports like backpacking, mountaineering, rock climbing, and canyoning. I also love to play music, particularly guitar and piano.

Somos Andrew y Isabella, ambos de 30 años y de Estados Unidos. Somos “novios universitarios” (¡nos conocimos a los 18 años!) y hemos estado felizmente casados durante 4 años. Antiguos ingenieros (Andrew estudió Ingeniería Mecánica en la universidad e Isabella estudió Ingeniería Industrial), ambos nos convertimos en profesionales de negocios. Más recientemente, Andrew fue gerente de operaciones/analista de datos, e Isabella se dedicó al desarrollo comercial y marketing para una empresa de turismo responsable en Fiji.

Dejamos nuestros trabajos en mayo de 2023 y desde entonces hemos estado viajando y siendo voluntarios felices. Si bien somos relativamente nuevos en Workaway, este verano realizamos algunos intercambios de voluntariado similares a través de HelpX. ¡Fuimos voluntarios durante dos semanas en un barco por un canal en Francia y durante tres meses en un centro de educación al aire libre para niños y adolescentes en Escocia!

Actualmente estamos explorando América del Sur mientras practicamos nuestro español y hacemos conexiones auténticas con otros. Hablamos español a un nivel intermedio y recientemente tomamos 6 semanas de clases de español en Perú. A finales de este año, también nos interesa pasar tiempo en el agua, ya sea en un velero, en una lancha motora o remando.

En general, ambos valoramos la risa, aprender cosas nuevas, explorar nuevos lugares y conocer gente nueva. La bondad, la compasión y la capacidad de reírse de uno mismo son muy importantes para ambos. Somos gente alegre y nos encanta bailar, especialmente en las bodas.

[Isabella]
Soy muy creativa y me encanta trabajar con mis manos. Me dedico a todo tipo de manualidades, desde costura hasta pintura y restauración de muebles. Disfruto especialmente arreglando o reutilizando cosas viejas (¡odio el desperdicio!); por ejemplo, mi vestido de novia fue comprado en una tienda de segunda mano y lo modifiqué yo mismo. Mi oficio favorito es cocinar; Constantemente pruebo nuevas recetas y técnicas de todo el mundo y nada me alegra más que cocinar una buena comida para amigos o familiares.

[Andrew]
Soy una persona muy motivada a la que le encantan los buenos desafíos. Me encanta estar al aire libre, ya sea relajándome junto al agua o disfrutando de uno de mis muchos deportes al aire libre. Crecí practicando esquí acuático, pero en los últimos años me he inclinado hacia los deportes de montaña como el mochilero, el montañismo, la escalada en roca y el barranquismo. También me encanta tocar música, particularmente guitarra y piano.
