Mongolia - from Jun 2024 until Sep 2024 View allDescription
Hello! I am a 24-year-old recent graduate from the US. I grew up in the mountains of Colorado, and have a deep love of world and a curiosity about our relationship with it.
This summer I am going to Mongolia, and could not be more excited! In this time, I hope to learn as much as I can of the Mongolian language and customs as well as help wherever I can - be that chopping vegetables or teaching English!
Would you be willing to host me this summer? I hope to volunteer my time and skills over the first couple weeks of July.

A bit about me:
Since October 2023, I've been travelling while working odd-jobs and volunteering.
My most cherished experiences have been meeting strangers of all sorts while practicing languages I could hardly understand. Albania especially struck something for me, and I found myself calling it home for a few months. There, they have a deep love for their national history, language, and food - all of which I thrilled to be able to take a small part in.
All the kindness they have shared with me means so much, and I am so grateful to have been able to meet Albania.
In travelling, Workaway has been the perfect opportunity. I find all sorts of tasks rewarding, and I love to connect with the diverse cast of characters who find themselves volunteering and hosting here.
Wherever I am, I hope to explore the landscapes, discover new recipes, and connect with people.

In terms of work, I have done it all: cooking, cleaning, painting, moving, teaching, gardening, animal care-giving, barista-ing, archaeology-ing, researching data-visualization, web developing... name it and I will do my best.
One of my favorite positions was teaching kids to code by making video games -- it was an amazing experience, so I would be open to any and all teaching opportunities/working with kids.
Physical tasks are also right up my alley. Give me yard work, gardening, fixing things around the house, carrying heavy stuff, assembling a solar panel array, I'm happy to get my hands dirty.
Suffice to say, adaptability is my forte. Throw me at any task, I'll get it done and do it well.Interests

I would gladly teach English! I can speak enough Spanish to hold a basic conversation, and would absolutely love to practice. Finally, wherever I go, I am keen on learning at least basic phases, and would love to practice any language you'd like to share!Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

I am a jack of all trades.
In terms of physical work, I have experience digging, moving things, gardening, painting, light carpentry, archaeology... If you need it done, I am sure I can do it.
My strongest skills are my people skills. When home, I work as a host at a restaurant.
I also used to work at a place called Code Ninjas, where we work with children to teach programming through making video games! It was incredibly rewarding to see them grow, help them have a good time, and feel seen.
Less important: I can do computer work too! I can make games, maps, and apps! If you need a map-app, I'm you're guy :)Age
24
What else ...
At home, I like to make videogames with my friends and can play a small amount of guitar.
When travelling, my hobbies are: walking around, meeting people, and eating good food :)
Less important, but I have a degree in Anthropology with a minor in Economics and GIS. So essentially I went to school to study people and culture, how people make decisions at large scales, and how to make maps! Some more information

Back in November, he was hoping I could get up to his place before the snow hit. As soon as I arrived, he took me out to go shopping for some proper winter work clothes and bought lunch -- we shared many stories, and even more beers, over this introduction. I felt as though it was just the first step to know… read more
The enthousiasm in his mail caught me and after a short call we decided to team-up.
The day before his arrival 2 roof tiles came sliding of the roof.
I'm not afraid of working at highs but if there is someone else around I'm happy to… read more
