We had a lovely time staying with John and Cynthia! They are the most wonderful couple and we learnt so much about their hobby farm, animals, and also the culture in Australia. By the end of our stay, we wanted our own little farm! Every day Cynthia provided such a variety of meals - she’s an amazing cook and baker! The chocolate pear cake was especially unbelievable, and we are lucky that she has shared her recipes with us. John is patient and kind, and we had a variety of tasks with his guidance (feeding the animals and building/monitoring bonfires came to be regular favourites). You will quickly learn the animal’s names and personalities, and we already miss them so much. Special shoutouts to Gypsy, Sugar, Spice, Stella, Cashew, Luna, Adam, Rocket, Quincy and of course, Grace and baby Matilda! Gypsy loves belly rubs, so please give her lots from us. 🩷 They are so hospitable, even driving us to the local station on our days off, so we could further explore. We are excited to return in future and will be keeping in touch! (We still have an in-progress jigsaw to finish and send proof of too 😂) We have so many great memories from our two weeks there, and we recommend this Workaway 100%.

Giving this five stars was the easiest decision we’ve ever had to make. During our time at the farm, we met a friend for life, learnt so much about agriculture and the process of permaculture farming (which rest assured we will absolutely be using in our own gardens), met the most wonderful people and found a deep sense of peace in stunning Norwegian landscapes. It was our first time in the country and Elin, JK and the whole family welcomed us in with open arms and open hearts. You can expect incredible food at shared meals, lovely chats, sage advice and enough laughs to last a lifetime (plus very very useful language advice). They are so kind, accommodating and flexible, always checking in with how we were doing. In addition to everything else, in your free time there are endless opportunities for hikes, swims in the nearby waterfall or Lake Mjøsa and day trips on the great bus system. Also, the jobs we did were always interesting and felt very fulfilling, with varied work including planting, weeding, mowing, cleaning, harvesting, building and much more! Indal is such a special place, it will stay with Finn and I forever. Tusen Takk and hope to see you all again soon!

I am very happy and grateful for the time I spent with Regina and Stefan, the goats and cats in their beautiful clearing. I got to know them both as very warm-hearted people. I also liked the work, it was very varied, not too strenuous for me and I learned a lot. On my free afternoons, I enjoyed hiking in the beautiful surroundings. I also enjoyed the conversations, singing, get-togethers and a hike with Regina and Stefan. I very much hope to see them again. Thank you so much!

Julian managed to fit right in with our family life from the moment he arrived, Friendly and polite, nothing was too much trouble and he seemed to have a genuine interest in what we are doing here. Always looking for ways to help out around the house, even after completing the tasks that we had lined up for the day. Great with the kids and patient with the pets. Confident in the kitchen and happy to help himself and cook for us all if our schedule was full. All in all we are happy to recommend Julian to any host looking for a volunteer and we would be happy to see him again if his travels bring him this way.

A Truly Special Family – Daniel, Laiza, Felipe & Sofia Having Daniel and his family stay with us was one of those rare and beautiful experiences that leaves a lasting mark. From the moment they arrived, they brought warmth, respect, and a sense of calm that settled right into our home. Daniel put so much care into the outdoor spaces, making everything look beautiful again. It was a gift to come outside and see the results of his thoughtful work. Laiza brought a quiet steadiness and kindness to every moment, always noticing what was needed and offering help without hesitation. Felipe was a gentle and reassuring presence for Carl. They spent time together in a way that felt natural and meaningful, which brought peace to our days. And Sofia, what a gem. She had a magical connection with the cats and took care of them with so much love that I secretly started calling her the cat whisperer. When I needed to be in the hospital, they cared for Carl with such responsibility and heart. Knowing he was supported allowed me to focus on healing, and for that alone, I’ll be forever grateful. This wasn’t just a helpful visit. It was a heartfelt one. They became part of our rhythm and we miss them already. With love and gratitude, Maha Maria & Carl

We stayed at Trine and Gabrielle's beautiful place for 10 days and had the loveliest time. Trine was very welcoming and made us feel at home. We had great chats and homemade Norweigan food and she was very helpful in offering to take us to nearby places around the peninsula (the bus routes and bike lanes are also great). We helped with weeding and mowing, some cleaning and cooking together with homegrown produce, dog walks with Pablo 😇 but the work was easygoing and flexible. Thank you for sharing your home with us, we would love to come back some day 🥰

We spent a whole month on the beach, in December 2025. It was our first experience of volunteering and we couldn't have chosen better! The place is amazing, it's a paradise on earth. The work is not difficult - we mainly cleaned the beach and painted the cabins. We also took care of lovely two dogs. We were also always escorted by cats, the place is full of animals! Sean is a great person, always willing to help and made sure we were comfortable living there. The only thing you should remember when going to the beach is to take mosquito and scorpion sprays with you - both can be useful to you. Also, be aware of sand fleas and always spray yourself with bug spray when you leave the cabin - especially if you're a fan of morning yoga on the beach or napping on a sun bed. In our case, the amount of wildlife was a step out of our comfort zone, but don't let that put you off - the charm of the place makes up for everything! Also remember that there are usually not many volunteers here - so it is a good place to spend some time with yourself. We recommend this place with all our hearts and thank you Sean for your hospitality!

Writing these lines makes us miss Coralie, Anton and their kids already and we are thinking back with a full heart. We had two more than amazing weeks at their beautiful place in Vittangi and we felt at home immediately. We became part of their family and always felt very appreciated and welcome. We took part in village activities and gold panning closeby. Work never felt like work, but we painted their house and we enjoyed it so much that it became our mission and passion. We also went for dogwalks with Karhu and helped a bit inside the house. Anton is a fantastic cook and Coralie a great story-teller. We came as strangers and left as friends. We wish them only the best and really hope to see them again :-). Tack & merci beaucoup!

I spent a total of 2 weeks at Kho pha ngan island in the hotel ! It was a very good experience with many volunteers, you can shared many moments with them and the owner Tashin. His hostel is very friendly and cool place to volunteer and stay You can do many things by your self from the hotel and rent a bike to explore the island and the beautiful beach there. Accommodation : quite nice shared room with AC and shared bathroom very clean. You have a snack/breakfast (muffin and fruit) and you have a fridge and a kitchen to cook if you want even the food in the street is very good and cheap and there is night market near by the hotel ! It was a very social and nice experience ! Nepal

I had a pleasant stay with Chengmun, her mom and all the dogs! The house is situated in a nice suburban part of KL, near to shops, parks and food stalls. The working hours were good and breakfast and lunch was provided. The food was great as there is so much variety I could eat something different every day. I felt very welcome there, learned a lot about Malaysian culture and had a lot of fun with the dogs too!

English - In autumn 2024 I spent 9 days on Elke’s farm, and it was an excellent experience. I had never done a Workaway stay before, but every day had a clear structure, and we always knew what was expected of us. We mostly mucked out the stables and filled hay nets for the horses. We also fetched wood, cut hedges and helped prepare food for the evening meal. I have always lived in a city, so it was great to work outdoors and be with horses. Elke was very welcoming and is a fantastic cook! I enjoyed having friendly conversations around the table while cracking walnuts, and one evening there were twelve people round for dinner. Elke also spoke German to me when possible, even though the other Workaway volunteers needed to use English, and it was lovely to chat to her friends and neighbours when they visited. I would recommend Elke’s farm to everybody!

Bee and Soy are very welcoming and we learned a lot by staying at their place. They are willing to share and we appreciated it a lot. We could help in preparing a place for a new Ger and play games, speak about culture, help in daily tasks. Overall a really great experience! Thank you 😁

We’re delighted to share an overview of Maria’s recent volunteer visit and the many meaningful ways she made a difference in our home. Throughout her time with us, Maria stood out with her engaging and patient support in teaching and mentoring the children. She delivered lessons creatively and kindly, helping the kids feel confident and excited about learning. Beyond academics, she spent quality time guiding daily routines, homework help, and structured play—bringing warmth, focus, and reassurance to the children’s lives. In addition to educational support, Maria made invaluable contributions in the kitchen, where she assisted in meal preparation with care for hygiene and nutrition—bringing relief and ease to household routines. Her presence in cooking was both practical and supportive. Maria also led exercise sessions (senam) with energy and enthusiasm, encouraging children to be active in a fun and motivating way. These activities not only supported physical health, but fostered joy and participation. Her dedication extended to home and garden care. She cared tenderly for plants, ensuring they remained healthy and vibrant, and she maintained general cleanliness throughout the house—making our environment feel fresh, inviting, and well‑cared‑for.

I had a wild time here with Diego, Silje and the group of volunteers. The 3 week permaculture programme was really interesting and interactive, and the work was varied and enjoyable. It was quite the experience to live off-grid in the jungle with just the basics. Even with mosquitoes and cockroaches, I survived and learned to appreciate the comfort of the outside world! Best of luck for the future of this project! Give a hug to Majambo for me!!

Viviana was a fantastic Workawayer and a great help during her time with us. She supported our language school by assisting with English and Spanish lessons, bringing great energy, creativity, and patience to each class. The students loved working with her, and she was always reliable, friendly, and enthusiastic. Her background in both languages was a real asset to our program. We highly recommend Viviana to any future hosts – she's a pleasure to work with and truly committed to the experience. Thank you, Viviana, and we wish you all the best in your next adventures!
