I spent two wonderful weeks here. I was warmly welcomed by the teachers and students, as well as by two families who agreed to host me during my stay. At school, I was able to attend various classes, discover original teaching methods, and assist with language classes. I also had the opportunity to take part in an outing to Sonnentor and a creative Friday. I really enjoyed the general atmosphere (cheerful and friendly), the daily schedule (very different from the French school schedule !) and the community spirit where everyone helps each other. Outside of school, which is already a rich experience in itself, there is also a lot to see and do in the region (Brno, Uherské Hradiště, Velehrad, Javorina, Sonnentor in Cejkovice, Skanzen in Strážnice to name a few). Teachers will always have good recommendations and it is common for colleagues to go out together. I would definitely recommend coming to help out at this place. It's more than just volunteering ! Thank you all again for your hospitality, and a special thank you to Veronika, Pavel, Aňa, Barbora, Miša, Alois, and Meda. I had a great time with you <3.

My best friend and I had a great experience with David and his wife Jacqui. Divid picked us up with the car in Comares (the closest village) and took us shopping to a small supermarket the same day. He was a very sympathetic, funny and communicative guy from the beginning. We mainly helped with the renovation of their house in Comares, doing heavy work like transporting scrap with a wheelbarrow or getting rid of stones in the floor. But it was very fair as he never said anything if we took a break and even gave us hours off for hard days. We really liked his clear communication, what he expected us to do and how we should do it. This is a very important part of working for us. We also got 60€ for food per week, which was not enough to cover all our expenses for two persons, but still a good support. In return we could stay in a comfortable accommodation privately with the best view for sunrises ever. David was also very open for a chat and recommended us activities for our further travelling. Thank you David and Jacqui! All the best and good luck with the ongoing renovation!

We spent two and a half weeks with Anneke and Willem — and not to forget Django, Boris and Janosz. We can honestly say that the four of us had a beautiful synergy: easy interaction, lots of things in common, lovely conversations, and wonderful meals together. Anneke and Willem are warm, welcoming people with a great sense of humor, and we immediately felt at ease with them. Their home is spacious, pleasant, and comfortable. And Django, Boris and Janosz are sweet animals, each with their own character. We even learned new things about dogs — wonderful! As for the tasks, we prepared the vegetable garden for winter, removed all the weeds, and spread straw. We pruned the linden trees, cleared weeds from the driveways and between the paving stones, re-grouted parts of it, planted lots of flowerbulbs in the garden, repaired a fence, trimmed the hedge back into shape, and tidied the garden shed and firewood. We were lucky with the weather and were able to work outside a lot, with beautiful views over the polder, both at the front and the back of the house. Vincent and Anneke often cooked together, and they turned out to be a perfect match in the kitchen as well. Ried is a very quiet, rural village, with the Wadden Sea, Franeker, Leeuwarden, and charming small villages close by. The bus stop is within walking distance — very convenient! As for cultural exchange, that wasn’t really necessary, since we are Dutch ourselves. ;-) We had a wonderful time with Anneke and Willem and would love to come back again. Perhaps in spring? To see everything come into bloom again… 😁🌷

Andrea you were a very nice, gentle and happy person to host. With a nice energy you brought ‘Italy’ to our center and surprised us with home made pizza! Andrea we get to know you as willing to help, whatever help was needed. You were gentle wih all the animals, especialy with Huub our Hooperswan, and a very hard (and precise) worker! Thank you for sharing the love for the animals, your energy and your nice meals (partly cooked with Marghe). Hope to see you again! The team

Richard has just been to stay with us for 10 days - it would have been longer but the weather was against us! However this did not deter Richard! When you look at his profile you will think he is a little on the " older" side BUT do not le t this put you off from having him join you!!! His enthusiasm and energy certainly put us to shame and he worked harder and quicker than some we have had half his age! He gives each task his full energy and is a huge asset! He has a farm background and so willing to work hard even when the weather was against us and did so much in his time that we were very sorry he had to go! Not only is a he a hard worker but also very pleasant to just hang out and chat with and was a delight to host!! He is welcome back anytime and we wish him the very best in his onward travels!

I volunteered for 2 months at the Kindergarten on the San Jerónimo site, around 30 minutes by car ( from the accommodation), which was provided by Boris and I was picked up every morning at around 8 am.by a lovely driver called Fredy ( on whom I subjected my terrible Spanish- and Google translate!). The teacher there was lovely and spoke very good English, which she used constantly with the children. She made use of me, in the form of of checking pronunciation and the occasional vocabulary enquiry and I would correct the occasional mistake with her afterwards, which she was very grateful for and made sure she incorporated it quickly into her speech. As it's opened fairly recently, there is only a small number of children there , between the ages of 2 and 4.In the morning there is 'circle time' with a lot of singing in English and waking the body up exercises! ( quite a lot of puffing from me and declining many twirls!). Then working at the tables and a delicious snack at 10 am, prepared by the main kindergarten. Lunch is also provided and there was always a vegetarian option available. I was picked up at 1 pm and taken to the language school in central Cusco ( I paid for this ride, but could have opted for the much cheaper 1 sole bus trip, but took the easier and more comfortable car!), where I had Spanish lessons every afternoon ( which I also paid for. Cusco is a very interesting city, with lots to do and many trips to go on at weekends or in the afternoons, if you don't opt for the Spanish lessons.I did the Inca Trail, which was an amazing experience. The accommodation was where I met some lovely volunteers and teachers; from Turkey, Germany, Ireland and 2 from Peru. It was lovely to have their company in my home away from home and have made friends for life.... Definitely an experience not to be missed.

Nolen stayed with us for two weeks, and honestly, he did a lot of work — more than we expected. He helped us move stones, cut trees, and bring stones from the river. We were building a chicken coop during his time here, and he jumped fully into the project. He made adobe bricks, mixed cob so many times that he actually became really good at it, and worked with full dedication every day. Along with the main work, he also helped with all the daily chores — filling water, washing dishes, making milk tea, and whatever else was needed around the farm. He was reliable, patient, and always ready to join in. We were really happy to host him and would definitely recommend him to any future hosts. He will be a great help wherever he goes.

Nacho is a very nice, intelligent and calm person to have as a volunteer. He stayed with us for 6 weeks and took care of the driving, garden and dogs. He’s an excellent driver and also a great cook. We had interesting conversations about life in general and those were enlightening! Have a great Christmas with your family and maybe see you back in spring!

Nour is an excellent host - very kind and generous, and full of interesting stories about Paris. We had a great conversation while walking through the streets, seeing some of the most beautiful areas of the city. We had a wonderful first experience volunteering at Ala's and Lyndon's shelter. They are friendly and kind hosts. Always available for any questions and they work very hard for their fury friends 🐕. We spent 2 amazing weeks caring for the dogs and cats and exploring the area during free time. The accommodation provides everything you need and it's easy to find whatever you need by foot or scooter. We highly recommand it for anyone ready to involve for the animals! Thanks again to Ala and Lyndon for your trust and the good time we spent together. We hope to see you again soon!
