We stayed with Michel for two weeks at the end of October/beginning of November. The chalet is in an incredible location overlooking a lake, and Michel took us on a tour of his land on our first day, which was amazing. We heard beavers and loons, and saw deer regularly - it is incredibly atmospheric with a lot of opportunities to spend time in nature. Michel is a great host and cook; we had very interesting conversations and shared meals together - and learned a lot about life in Quebec and in the mountains. We had the opportunity to try some very Québécois dishes too, which was lovely! We also had the chance to meet Anne-Sophie and Mattéo, and had a great evening playing some board games together. The work we were doing mostly involved helping to prepare for winter and cleaning cabins after guests (the guests usually left things very tidy already). We did a lot of splitting and moving wood, which we really enjoyed. However, one of the best aspects was that we used a quad bike (which Michel taught us how to drive) to travel between the cabins and to transport the wood. This was so much fun, and we got to see a lot of this beautiful area in the mountains! We brought our own car so were also able to visit places nearby (Mont-Tremblant is lovely), but even if you're not driving, there's so much to do in your free time right outside the chalet if you enjoy being outside. There are walking trails, canoes, paddle boards, etc., which Michel was kind enough to let us use whenever we liked. While we were there, Michel split his time between the chalet and his home, so part of the time we were there by ourselves. I think this would be an amazing Workaway for anyone who likes working outside, and enjoys a combination of solitude and company. We loved it here and hope to return. Thank you very much to Waleria and Gustavo for welcoming us in their paradise! We spent almost one month here and we loved our experience here!! We worked a lot in the agroforest and learned many new things! The job is very interesting and very intense but after work Waleria cooked us the most amazing food every midday (she truly is the best cook of Minas Gerais) Gustavo knows a lot about agroforestry and nature in general and we loved to discover so many new plants, fruits and animals!! Waleria filled our playlists with great Brazilian music and both of them loved to introduce us to their friends and family! Everyone was so lovely and kind, we almost felt like we were part of the family! The little house where we slept was very nice, and we became close friends with the chickens who were our closest neighbours :) We recommend this Workaway to all the nature lovers who want to discover a more self sufficient way of life 🌿 big hugs to Waleria, Gustavo, all the family and your lovely pets Xuxu, Chia and Mario 🌞🍄‍🟫🫶🏼🌟🧡

Volunteering in this hostel is definitely one of the highlights of my travels so far. Such a comfortable and social atmosphere with so much to do in Cali but the hostel feels like a chilled home away from home. I stayed for 5 weeks and loved the work. It's really well explained by Laura the manager and she, José or Martina were always there to answer any questions or worries. The shifts are often busy and go quickly because there's always something to do, always someone to chat to! As a volunteer, it's a lovely break from fast paced travel to come to such a relaxed place combined with the vibe and energy of Cali, definitely unique and it was a hard place to leave. I made great friends and definitely would love to return!

Haber recibido a Cathy y Cami fue maravilloso, siempre dispuestas a ayudar y compartir junto a nosotros. Nos apoyaron en un momento muy difícil de salud, fueron un gran aporte durante su estadía y les entregaron mucho amor a nuestros perros. Son una hermosa pareja y esperamos encontrarnos nuevamente en algún lugar. ♥️♥️

Este fue uno de los Workaways más cómodos y acogedores que he hecho! Noe te recibe en su casa con los brazos abiertos, pero al mismo tiempo respeta mucho tu privacidad y tu independencia. La ubicación de su casa y de las cabañas de huéspedes es hermosa… puedes hacer caminatas preciosas y visitar distintos ríos cercanos, así como pueblos de la zona. El trabajo era muy claro: tareas simples, agradables y siempre bien explicadas. Casi todos los días hacíamos algo diferente y Noe fue muy paciente con mi falta de comprensión de algunas palabras y términos en español. Tiene muchísima paciencia y explica todo muy bien, además de ser muy comprensiva con mis intentos de hablar y contar historias. Compartimos momentos muy lindos y pudimos conocernos muy bien, ya que no había muchos huéspedes durante mi estancia. El alojamiento es perfecto y un descanso maravilloso después de tantos dormitorios de hostales. Me encantaría volver a visitar. ¡Gracias por todo, Noe! ¡Un abrazo grande! <3

I went to Marian's house in Tracadie during novembre/decembre, for 2 1/2 weeks. It was a very nice workaway experience ! My main tasks was to cooked for her, garden and clean her house. She has an great hospitality, generousity and she makes you feel very comfortable in her home ! Thank you so much for all you shared with me !

I loved the stay with Annabelle, Truman and their little baby ❤️ I’ve spent time in a little community we created together with several more volunteers and it was amazing and lovely and pure living. We were singing, dancing, building house and other projects, we were discussing and speaking together always trying to understand each other, we were gently supporting each other. I learned to work with wood and many more tasks! I love the land 🌴🌳🌱💧 — the nature really is breathtaking and nourishing, waterfalls and levadas, fruit trees… earth paradise 🍎🍇❤️ Lovely and absolute recommend!!

Ida and Lotta are such wonderful polite and respectful women, they made there time with us and our children very enjoyable, we had some lovely conversations and laughs and shared stories and experiences with each other, I think they both would be a pleasure for anyone to have stay and help them out as it has been for us, Thank you both so much for your time and help I hope ye have a lovely time with the rest of your travels 🫶.

Margaux volunteered for the month of October and half of November. Having Margaux for a month and a half was such a treat for us. She was communicative, friendly and hard working. She maintained cleanliness in the hostel, checked-in guests and changed beds. She also interacted with guests and was able to gather people together to hang out. We had an amazing time with her, even though it was low season. She is energetic and willing to help at any moment. We loved having her in the hostel to help us. We would recommend her to anyone that is in need of a volunteer who is willing to help and bring up the mood in the hostel. Best of luck to you and much love Margaux from the Staff.

If you are looking for a stay living in the middle of the jungle, helping with the farm animals, basic maintenance jobs, and enjoy a rustic lifestyle – you will love this one. But if you need regular access to electricity, internet, hot water showers, and amenities, you will certainly be pushed out of your Comfort Zone. Yet what a growth opportunity to learn and live a farm life, and discover your own strengths (and weaknesses). At least that was what my stay at Lane’s place was for me. Fortunately I had 2 weeks with Lane there first to learn what I needed to maintain the property, systems, and animal needs before Lane left for his yearly visit to the States. Best part of all was Lane’s meals – serving fabulous food is certainly one of his great passions. I even learned some new recipes as part of my responsibilities was feeding his day-worker breakfast and lunch. Once Lane left I was on my own, and that was an amazing, yet unexpected growth opportunity. Having been working at a 'desk job' for the past few years, I had forgotten how strong and resourceful I am. I certainly needed those forgotten skills here, and felt quite proud of what I achieved and even overcame while there. Some of the best memories include sleeping at the glamping site, and hearing the night sounds of the jungle, marveling at the sheer number of stars, and enjoying the rising and setting of the moon. Best of all were the friendly and affectionate dogs – I was never really alone. I especially apreciated the company and help from his neighbor, Patty. Whether you choose a short or long stay, if you are ready and willing to appreciate a rustic lifestyle, you will have a great time at Lane’s place. Fortunately now that the rains have stopped for the year, that means no mud or nightly bugs. But be sure to pack some really good ear-plugs, or the roosters will be waking you up at 2 or 3am!!!

My experience at the sanctuary was truly wonderful. From the very first day, I felt a genuine welcome and a very warm atmosphere. The Dea team is incredibly kind, patient, and always willing to explain each task clearly. The work with the animals is meaningful, varied, and organized in a way that allows you to learn a lot without feeling overwhelmed. The animals are cared for with so much love, and it’s inspiring to see everyone’s commitment to their well-being. The surroundings are peaceful and full of nature, which makes every day enjoyable, even when the tasks are physical. I’m leaving very grateful for the experience, for everything I learned, and for the lovely people I met. I wholeheartedly recommend this place. Thank you for making me feel like part of the family!

Our stay with Barbara and Jakup was truly wonderful. From the beginning they made us feel incredibly welcome and appreciated. We loved the shared dinners, the game nights, and the warm, open atmosphere in their home. The work was flexible and clearly communicated, and we really enjoyed having the freedom to choose our tasks and create our own schedule. We also appreciated the trust they placed in us—letting us use the tools, the gym, and our own little apartment independently. Staying with them felt more like visiting friends than doing a work exchange, and we are very grateful for their kindness, generosity, and openness to hosting us. We would happily return if the timing works out. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Mi experiencia con Giacomo e Ilenia ha sido muy muy buena y divertida. Avanzamos, reímos, compartimos. Ellos son magníficas personas, de gran corazón y simpleza. Sencillos, con convicción de un mundo mejor, más consciente. Son responsables, comprometidos, alegres, sonrientes y pacíficos. Pasamos 12 dias en casa de Rich i fue una experiencia increible. Si te gustan los lugares tranquilos y la naturaleza como a nosotros, dsifrutarás mucho del voluntariado. Fuimos en temporada de tortugas y tuvimos la oportunidad de liberarlas. Los atarcederes son preciosos y puedes dedicar el tiempo libre a practicar surf i disfrutar del rio haciendo paddle. Rich pone las cosas fáciles y se asegura de que te sientas cómodo sin exigir demasiado. Disfrutamos mucho cocinando juntos y compartiendo buenas conversaciones con él y los locales que trabajan en la propiedad. Las tareas principales fueron pasear y educar a los perros, que son adorables! mantenimiento y jardineria, aunque siempre puedes aportar las habilidades que se te den mejor. Muchas gracias por abrirnos las puertas de tu casa Rich, ya os echamos de menos! un abrazo!

Alicia est très agréable, nous avons passés de très bons moments ensembles. Elle est très discrète, toujours prête à rendre service, elle est venue deux fois à la maison, La première fois, nous avons travaillé ensemble a des travaux, très bonne communication, très respectueuse, très facile à vivre, Alicia a su s'adapter très vite à mon mode de vie et à ma personnalité. La deuxième fois, elle est venue garder la maison et mes deux chats pendant mon absence, elle m'a envoyé des photos régulièrement et c'était super. Ils étaient trop heureux et moi rassurée. La maison était très propre quand je suis rentrée, et Alicia a été très attentionnée. Je recommande vivement Alicia.

I stayed 3 weeks with Ulrika and Mats in October and it was incredible. They were so nice and welcoming. We talked a lot about swedish culture and the differences between our countries. They were very interested in me and even showed me some wonderful places in Trollhättan, as well as let me ride one of the horses couple of times and even took me to a book fair in Gothenburg. They always made sure I had enough food, as I am a vegetarian and they were meat eaters. Their dog was so energetic and cute and I had a lot of fun with her, as well as with the other animals. The work was very easy and Ulrika and I worked a lot of the time together. I helped cutting some branches, taking care of the horses, as well as cleaning some parts of the barn with Mats. Also they helped me with any problem I had and I can´t thank them enough. This was one of the best times I had in my life and I would love to visit them again! I can truly recommend them! Margot and Hippolyte are a lovely couple and we very much enjoyed hosting them. Very polite and positive, they work very well together. Willing to get on with the tasks we needed doing. They made the vegetable garden look amazing within a week and helped with numerous other tasks and were always happy to help. A very good experience for us and I hope the same for them!

Ken and Kathy stayed with us in November . They are an exceptional couple. They're great company and also very hard workers. We invited them to help us with our large grounds in Crete, with its many bushes, shrubs, trees and a kitchen garden. They worked very hard, putting in several hours each morning before the temperature became too high. Ken is gifted as a handyman as well, and did a wonderful job adding a roof extension to our large chicken coop to protect the hens from both the sun and the torrential winter rains. They made a warm friendship with our four cats. We thoroughly enjoyed the meals we took together, and have fond memories of interesting discussions on a whole range of topics. We would love to meet them again! We are very happy to highly recommend them for further work away assignments.

Bob and Cathy were excellent Workaways/house sitters. We were only able to spend a couple of days working together before we headed off to complete our Camino de Santiago. We were immediately at ease in their company and confident that our old house was in safe hands. All was well on our return and we had more time to work together before closing up for the season. It was a positive to have such independent Workaways who were happy to do their own thing or happy to get involved, help out and share stories and life experience with us -they were great company. We very much appreciated their assistance and it was a real positive to have Workaways who were experienced with house and garden maintenance. We can whole heartedly recommend Bob and Cathy for any future Workaway opportunities.
