We were so lucky to host Thibault for some weeks in November and December. Thibault is a hard worker and always up for learning new things, and getting to know new things. It was a pleasure hosting him and recommend him to any host.

I was very lucky to spend the last week of my three months in Japan at Hiroe and Jos's farm near Nara, helping them with their food forest project. Hiroe and Jos are lovely hosts, caring and generous. They speak perfect English, which meant less of a language barrier, but they also took time to help me improve my basic Japanese. We had great chats and plenty of laughs over the fantastic dinners cooked by Hiroe. The farm itself is in a lovely green area in the Nara district. Work was very varied and I appreciated the fact that we would discuss what needed to be done, making me feel more involved in the project. Hiroe and Jos are very keen to involve the local community too and we had a fun lunch with local volunteers. The guest house is a beautiful traditional building, fully renovated, which the other workawayer and I had to ourselves. I could not have had a better experience for my first ever workaway and I was feeling a very heavy heart when I hugged Hiroe and Jos goodbye... arigatou gozaimasu, mata ne!

Dave and Julia are absolutely living the life I’ve dreamed of for a long time, away from the rush of the city and following a sustainable approach to living. Time was spent doing wood chopping, fencing, hedge cutting, and painting, as well as looking after their lovely sheep, hens, and cats when they were away. Julia is excellent with management skills, which she calls forward planning, and she also introduced me to British culture, where I didn’t do very well, though I did try my best. Dave keeps himself busy building and maintaining things around the house, and cycling with them was an experience—their stamina was genuinely impressive. And if you love music, this place is perfect, as they go to band every Thursday, where you can meet talented musicians, enjoy great music, and have a wonderful social time.

Jia is such a beautiful human being with a positive and flexible personality. Eager to learn and exchange knowledge. Eager to help from her heart and put efforts to make things work efficiently. She was a really good hand at the stable and in general in the farm. She quickly indulged in the culture and also with our horses. We really enjoyed her company and we would love to have her again in the farm in the future.

Hosting Mina was a wonderful experience for our family. She is the most lovely person, sweet and positive. Mina is also hard working and did such a good job with our sometimes rowdy kids. They all loved her and so did we the grownups <3 100% reccomend Mina if you have the chance to host her in the future. Hope to see her again if ever in Iceland, good luck with your travels and future work!

Staying with Phaëdra was such an amazing experience! This was my first workaway stay so I didn't fully know what to expect but right from the beginning I was welcomed super warmly and made to feel right at home. Phaëdra is such a kind and sweet soul, she is easy going and you can tell she has a true passion for her project and her community. She is not just a host but also friend. When I first arrived her father was staying with us for some time and if you get the opportunity to meet him you will not be disappointed, he kindly shared some of his amazing cooking skills with us and was also such a kind and warm host. The olive harvesting itself was super interesting, it was a learning experience for all of us involved but a really special process to get to be a part of. We got to taste the oil that was pressed from the olives which we had personally collected, something I hadn't even thought would be possible, and now I will never taste oil so good when I go back home. The work itself was tiring many days but in the most rewarding of ways:) The schedule was very relaxed however there is still order to keep things running smoothly. We shared tasks like cooking and cleaning the house and between the working days we had a lot of free time to enjoy the area and the company of the other guests. This stay felt like a perfect cultural exchange to get a glimpse into the local Greek life. Phaëdra herself and her family are all quite musically gifted and I had the pleasure of joining some of their gatherings in which they played music together and really put on some concerts for us to enjoy. I was initially supposed to leave one week earlier than I did but after getting sick for a couple of days Phaëdra was extremely accommodating to me in making sure I had a place to stay to feel better and let me continue on the project for a little longer. Staying here at Phaëdra's permaculture farm is an experience I would highly recommend, I really enjoyed my month here!:)

I came back from San Gimignano 6 months ago and I still think about this experience very often !! Thank you to Don Gianni for this amazing time. I went to Italy to be immersed in the italian culture and learn the language. But I gained a lot more than just having a good time. I learned a lot about human relationships ! We went to Rome for one week with Gianni and the teens (which are all amazing) to work in a welcoming center and this was a special time. I have met generous people... but nothing like Don Gianni. He will do everything to help you. So if you get the chance to do that workaway, go with your eyes closed, trust me! you'll feel very quick apart of the community. This is an experience I would definitely do again !!!

This was my first workaway experience. I felt comfortable with Anna and Joel right away. They put a lot of effort into everything and were incredibly kind—for example, we had game nights with delicious homemade snacks. The tasks were easy to manage because they made it very clear what was expected. The kids were sweet and well-behaved.

My volunteering experience with Isaac and his family has been absolutely unforgettable. From the very first day, I was treated not just as a volunteer, but as part of the family. Their kindness, generosity and warmth made me feel at home right away. The work was meaningful, the programs were engaging, and every day was a great opportunity to learn, share and grow. I am incredibly grateful for this experience and would recommend volunteering with Isaac to anyone looking for a truly special and enriching adventure.

I felt very welcome from the very first moment. They made sure that i'm feeling comfortable and can enjoy the stay. Everything went super smoothly, and the whole experience was really wonderful. The private space was great, and I really enjoyed the cultural exchange — sharing food, stories, and daily life together. The area is incredibly beautiful, the kids are so sweet, and the animals too. I truly had a great time here and honestly if i had the time i would have stayed even longer.

One of the most enriching and wonderful experiences we've ever had. A volunteer placement with a great deal of social, cultural, and knowledge exchange. Words can't express my gratitude for these two months in Italy, Amelia. First and foremost, a huge thank you to Angelica and Constantine, our hosts. More than just hosts, we became family. We had the pleasure and honor of sharing these months with them. They are wonderful people: lovely, kind, helpful, and caring. They trusted us from the start and were fantastic to us. They introduced us to all their friends and family, and we've shared many dinners together. They are friendly, kind, and interesting people. We've learned a lot about Asian food because Angelica and Constantino love to cook and experiment. Delicious meals. And how could we forget their dogs and cats? Chili, Felini, Nora, and Armstrong are the four loving dogs of the house. Nero, Henry, Eduardo, and Ida are the four cats. They are all incredibly adorable; we will miss them terribly. As for the work, we worked five hours a day, 5 day a week, with two days off, which we could use to explore the surrounding area. The work involved clearing the land, cutting plants, planting, and collecting leaves. It was a lot of fun and manageable; we really enjoyed working outdoors. It's a huge and incredibly beautiful place. Thank you so much for all the love you've shown us these past few months. We will always remember you and all your animals. We're leaving behind a beautiful family in Amelia, Italy, whom we will always remember with great affection and joy. This isn't goodbye, but see you soon. We love you all very much. Silvi-Andre 💕❤️

She was a calm girl. I remember her often reading books by the window or in front of the wood stove. She also got along well with her other roommate. She also had an active side, going on short trips to places like Togakushi Shrine and Matsumoto on her days off.

first of all sorry for my late feedback... I spent only a few days at the boat but if I would had more time I would have extended my stay with Dani definitely. he's a really openminded person with a lot of interesting views about life. He teached me a lot about sailing, the sea, the weather and I got the experience to sail during the day as well as in the night, which was kinda magical. the work was quite easy and enjoyable, washing the dishes, cooking, cleaning and bringing water with the kayak. In the free time I went for a swim, explored the little villages, went for a walk or just sunbathing on the boat ;) Even though I only spent a few days at the boat I still got the chance to see how beautiful it is to live on a boat and following the rhythm of the wind. I never got tired of the beautiful views, the salty water and and all the interesting conversations. thank you Dani for this amazing experience :)

Dwi, Ramon, Kumara, Wiraya, and Jules stayed with us for a few weeks while being on their way from Germany to Indonesia. It was a big pleasure having them around. They are super nice people and the kids are really nice. Ramon worked very hard and we enjoyed hearing about their plans for this big trip and going back to Indonesia. If you have the chance to host this super nice family, we can definitely recommend them.

Terra and Ryan and their 3 children stayed with us for a week. It was a big pleasure having them around. Both Ryan and Terra are hard workers and did a lot in the week they were here. It was super nice having them around, talking to them and for the kids playing together. The kids got along very well and played a lot together. Our daughter tried to let them stay longer, but unfortunately they had to move on. We can definitely recommend this family!

Maike, Enrico and their kids stayed with us for a week. We enjoyed having them around a lot. They worked hard and are super nice, easy going people. Our kids got along very well and together with the children of another workaway family staying here at the same time, it was a nice gang playing together.

I am truly grateful and happy that I had the chance to host Lisa for three months. Before meeting her, I imagined Lisa would be someone in her 50s because of how knowledgeable, mature, and wise she sounded in our messages. I was so surprised (and delighted!) to discover she is actually a young woman with an incredibly calm, thoughtful, and bright spirit. Lisa is one of the kindest and most genuine people I have ever met. She has a special gift for making everyone around her feel comfortable and valued. She really loves children — the kids in our home adored her immediately. Every week she would come back with big smiles and bags full of jackfruits (her favorite!) to share with all of us. Seeing how excited the children got when she arrived with those fruits is a memory I will always treasure. What I admire most about Lisa is her honesty and care for others. If something made her uncomfortable, she would tell me gently and clearly — not to complain, but because she sincerely wanted to help me improve as a host and make the experience better for future volunteers. That kind of openness is very rare and extremely helpful. She is full of creative ideas, always curious, and loves learning about local life. At the same time, she is the kind of person who remembers to ask, “How are you feeling today?” — and she really means it. Those small daily check-ins made me feel cared for in a way I didn’t expect, and they brightened my days. Thanks to Lisa, I have fallen in love with hosting all over again. She brought warmth, laughter, respect, and so much positive energy into our home. She didn’t just stay with us — she became part of our family. I would welcome Lisa back anytime, with open arms and the biggest smile. If you have the chance to host her or work with her, don’t hesitate — she is an absolute gem, and you will be lucky to know her. Thank you, Lisa, from the bottom of my heart. Come back soon! 🌟 Feel free to add or remove anything — this is your review and your feelings! But this version is long, heartfelt, and will surely make Lisa smile when she reads it. ❤️

Maria is a charming and delightful young lady with a maturity beyond her years. She was happy to get down and dirty with the many weeds on our orchard which looks much better now than it did before she came. She also helped by cleaning windows, a job that not many people enjoy! She also assisted our neighbour by grooming one of her horses. She was always willing to give things a go, including playing Bananagram, This was her final Workaway in NZ before she returns home, but if she ever returns we would love to see her again.

I stayed with Clare for one week, and it was honestly a wonderful experience. What stood out to me the most was her love for nature and the way she creates a real sense of immersion in her little paradise. Clare is incredibly kind! I also really appreciated that she makes sure to host multiple Workawayers at the same time. Thanks to that, I met amazing people like Breno, Lauren and Lucas, which made the experience even richer. It was also great for my English. Having the chance to speak and share with everyone every day really helped me improve a lot during the week. Clare even took us on a small hike and showed us a beautiful beach nearby, which was such a special moment. The work was varied and meaningful, the atmosphere was peaceful, and the property itself is truly beautiful. Overall, it was a fantastic week and I’m really grateful I had the chance to stay there. I definitely recommend Clare’s place to anyone looking for a genuine, nature-filled Workaway experience.
