Helena was an absolutely fantastic help for us and we so greatly enjoyed her cheerful and willing personality. She took amazing care of our dogs and spent many hours taking them for extra walks/hikes. She was always willing to got help and also very self directed. We were able to include her in so many gathering with friends and everyone enjoyed her company. We would welcome her back at any time for hopefully a much longer visit!

We thoroughly enjoyed out stay here at Anokhi and would have loved to stay longer had we not needed to be out the country. Jeevan, John and Aditya were all so welcoming. Our project was to re-organise all the plants around the cafe and guesthouse (and there are a lot which made it so much fun). Aditya was so open and enthusiastic to all of our ideas which made it an absolute pleasure to work. Jeevan would cook us up a breakfast and lunch which were always delicious and appreciated. The rennovations were coming to an end while we were there and the new upstairs and shala look really promising. We already look forward to coming back. With routine work hours it was easy to go to yoga classes around work and explore the city. We are really grateful for our time here and the space Aditya creates. Really looking forward to being back again in the future!

Paula has truly proven me wrong. I was initially sceptical because of her young age and the fact that she is a first-time workawayer, but she turned out to be well-mannered, reliable, respectful, and mature beyond her years. Most importantly, she is a wonderful listener, and I genuinely enjoy chatting with her. In addition to playing beautifully with our four-year-old, Paula is also able to help with our baby, for which I am very grateful. Thanks to her, we’ve learned so much about Austrian culture and how Christmas is celebrated there — she even helped us bake cookies. Paula is very open-minded when it comes to other cultures, and she enjoys eating Asian food too. We highly recommend her to any future hosts. Hopefully we’ll get to visit Vienna in the near future, and Paula can be our tour guide!

Nico are Lisa are exactly who you would want on your team when the going gets tough (or any other time ) I had to suddenly dash back to UK for a month as my mother died, leaving my wife Cam to hold the fort (farm) for a month, because Nico is so responsible and capable, she felt comfortable leaving him in charge of the farm and other workawyers when she had to make overnight trips up to the city. As well as being dependable, Nico and Lisa are utterly charming. If you get a chance to host them, grab it with both hands.

Paul and Nicolas were easy to host and good workers, they seemed to enjoy learning some new skills and the amazing views around Comares. They left the accommodation in good condition after their stay and were polite and respectful with good language skills. I have never had an issue with the 60€ we offer for food I guess it depends on what you desire to eat/ drink, but my wife and I for example would not spend 240€ in a month so we feel it is adequate and the vast majority of helpers have enjoyed the experience of being self catering and not being maybe being served food that doesn't suit their needs.

I had such a peaceful experience here with it being just before the main season. Sid and Gaurav were really welcoming and laid back which made it easy to fit into the team. It was scheduled 4hrs a day 6 days a week which worked perfectly for me to explore the surrounding areas and have some time to myself. The work consisted of helping clear the veggie garden for the first few days and then helping out in the cafe wherever needed, setting up, waitering etc. Gaurav was great to work alongside and see all the changes he is making to the cafe. The food was delicious and I really loved all the flavours and different dishes. Being able to eat when suited you after the meal also made it really convenient. Everyone that stays here is really friendly and laid back which creates a nice atmosphere. Thanks again Sid for some musical teaching. I really hope I be able to pass by again in the future!

We couldn't have imagined a better start to this adventure—from the very first moment we felt incredibly welcome. The accommodation is fantastic, the family is super friendly, and the location in the nature is breathtaking. Bec's cooking is top-notch. It was really hard to say goodbye after four weeks—a definite recommendation for all future workawayers.

I stayed for a week at the end of November. This place was truly wonderful — calm and peaceful, with humans, nature, and animals living together in harmony. Arthur cooked amazing meals every day. I had never imagined that vegan food could be so delicious. On top of that, the dogs and cats were incredibly sweet! They’re all so friendly that you’ll definitely make friends with them. Arthur always looked after me, asking things like, “Did you sleep well?” and “How was your work?” He is kind, thoughtful, and very reliable. I really believe choosing to stay with him was the best decision I could have made. I’m sure I’ll come back again! Thank you so much!!

Aileen & Steven were wonderful on many levels, hardworking, capable, ready to turn their hand to whatever needed doing. They are also utterly charming and intelligent, great company. Midway through their stay, I had to dash back to the UK as my mum died suddenly, and they rose to the occasion and helped my wife Camilla hold the fort ( farm ) in my absence. They are also utterly charming and great company. We do hope they come back and stay again

Having Aly stay with us was a delight, she fitted in from day one and got on brilliantly with our family and the other workawayers.. She is hard working, capable, calm, adaptable and unflappable, and as a wonderful bonus, is highly creative. She carved a wonderful wooden sign for a memorial for my mum, who recently passed away If you get a chance to host her, grab it with both hands.

If I had to sum-up this first workaway experience in one word it would be : PERFECT! I couldn't dream of a better start in Canada. Sue's property is located in the beautiful Kootenays (Accessible by plane, some buses or you can find some rideshare/carpool option on fb if you are on a budget). If you want to spent time in an amazing scenic area, this is the place to go. Being outside in the garden was always amazing : The nature, the view on the mountains, the river nearby, the mist in the trees in the early morning and late afternoon... I spent almost 6 weeks there (mid Oct to mid Nov ) and loved it from the first to last day. Sue was very friendly. The communication was clear and she immediatly tried her best to make sure I would arrive by the best route. Upon my arrival, she left me settle and made sure I was confortable. She then gave me a tour of her beautiful property. She was flexible regarding the schedule and tasks. I always had a clear list of things to do and was working in autonomy. She was also able to give me clear guidance and priorization when needed. The tasks were diverse, interesting and she tried her best to adapt it to my skills and physical capacity (I wanted physical work). As we were already in fall, my main assignments were : weeding, harvesting vegetables and apples (they were delicious), preparing veggie beds for next spring, wood splitting and storage, trimming trees, river bank stabilization, fence minor repair and helping cooking and drying apples. Communication was always positive and clear. In addition, she tried her best to show me the local gems and the Kootenays during our days off. We went cycling, kayaking, hiking and even jumped into local hotspring (which was very relaxing). She is very knowladgable regarding bears and wildlife in general. I learned a lot with her and loved how she tries her best to live in the most respectful way possible to Nature and Wildlife. Regarding the accomodation, her suite was super spacious and confy. You'll have your own kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom and all the privacy you need. Cooking your own breakfast and lunch would be your responsability but I often joined her in the evening to share dinner with her (we often cooked together while discussing). She is an excellent cook and I was always pleased to share meals with her. She introduced me to some of her friends too and I really felt at home with her. I highly recommand her. Thanks again for everything Sue. ;)

Dhia is absolutely lovely. She did every different and varied task i required to a high standard. Dhia is very respectful with such a sweet nature. Please welcome Dhia with open arms she is very special. I have a major water shortage problem at the moment and while I'm struggling to sort it out Dhia helped by only using what she needed and saving water to feed plants. I wish Dhia the very best hosts and experiences in her travels. GG

What a delightful young Lady is Merel .! Quietly respectful, but with a cheeky sense of humour too .. , Merel is a competent young Horsewoman who was a great asset during her stay, and whom I hope learned some new skills to continue her horse journey. We thoroughly enjoyed having her with (I did consider kidnapping her). We wish her well and hope maybe one day we may meet again. Safe travels Merel .

Hosting Lara and Fides on Bowen Island for six weeks was wonderful. Their stay came together last minute, yet they immediately settled in with eagerness, positive energy, and a wonderful sense of adventure. The highlight of their time here was the incredible bond they formed with our two dogs. They took them on awesome hiking adventures and explorations, showered them with affection, and gave them the happiest six weeks imaginable - watching that connection grow was truly special and our girls definitely miss the endless snuggles! They were also wonderfully adaptable working inside and outside of the house — helping with everything from wood sorting and chipping, yard clean up, painting, dog washing, home cleaning, and even organizing paperwork - they jumped into any job asked. They also loved to cook and bake, filling our home with the smell of delicious meals, apple pie, brownies, and homemade German cookies! Lara and Fides are respectful, clean, easy to live with, and best of all brought joy into our daily routine. We’re deeply grateful for everything they contributed and would wholeheartedly recommend them to any future host. We wish you the most wonderful rest of your travels ladies!

Natalie and Vin were an absolutely wonderful couple. Our school is very small, yet even within the limited time and scale of our activities, they were always looking for ways to contribute and support what we are doing. We also had the chance to exchange a few thoughts about education, and those conversations were genuinely meaningful. Both of them were calm, respectful, and consistently thoughtful in the way they interacted with everyone. Thanks to that, I believe the children were able to spend their time with a real sense of ease and trust. Although the two weeks went by quickly, it was a truly special time. Thank you so much!

Akiko stayed with us for three and a half weeks and proved to be a very easy person to have around. She mostly kept to herself after hours, though was good for a conversation during dinner, while working or on an outing. She was respectful of the house rules and always clean and tidy. Akiko's work ethic was excellent and although slight in build she proved herself many times with determination to both take on the challenge of something difficult and also to complete a task with a good attention to detail. She proved to be excellent at finer tasks like weeding twitch grass and through vegetable beds and rarely complained despite the physically demanding and repetitive nature of this work. We can highly recommend Akiko as a great workaway and are grateful for all her efforts.

Luke is a very chill guy, Little River is a very chill little town and Dream is the cutest dog ever. Luke is clear about what he expects from you and he'll leave you with something to do while he's at work. If you don't have a car you will not be stuck, there is great hiking accessible from the backyard and it's a nice little walk into town with a cafe and a restaurant. Luke is very knowledgeable about plants and doves and I've learned some cool new things from him. Thank you!

Leah is an excellent host! She communicates clear what she expects from you, has great recommendations about what to do in the area (and the South Island in general) and has a very warm heart. We shared great conversations (Leah is very worldly) and I got to come with to some activities. There was enough work to be done, but nothing back breaking. I really enjoyed my time with Leah and am happy to have a new friend in Riverton.
