We want to extend a huge thank you to Richard for all the incredible support during his time with us. His energy, creativity, and reliability were a game changer—especially when it came to organizing and running our social events. From open mic to trivia game night, and everything in between, Richard brought people together with ease and warmth. Guests felt welcome and engaged. We’re so grateful for the time, ideas, and heart he put into every task. Thank you again, Richard. You’ll always have a place here, and we hope to cross paths again soon!

In june 2025 me and my friend Marijana spend 20 days in Salome house. It was incredible experience, I love it! Our work was working in the garden and playing with children in a hostel. We experienced how massai life looks like in all aspects of life, specialy life of massai woman; good and bad ones. We also experience every day life in Waso, such as visit local market, weddings, visits friends, schools, we spent one night in traditional massai house called boma, one time we cooked dinner for all family members, playing cards UNO at the evenings, invited other volunteers for dinner, visit Serengeti. The atmosphere between us was very relaxed, friendly, we laughed a lot, cried when we said goodbye. These are very kind, welcoming, peaceful, loving people. If I didn't have a life and family in Slovenia, I would move there. Without any hesitation I recomend stay, to experience how life in this area looks like.

Wow, what an experience! Staying with Javi has easily been the best Workaway experience I’ve had by a landslide. Not only has it been a stand out on Workaway it has been a stand out on my travels in Europe. I only planned to stay a month but classically, I ended up staying over 3months. I’m already planning to come back and visit two more times. It’s now my new Spanish home 😂  So now to tell you why. Firstly and simply, I was well and truly looked after. I was never just a worker, I was a someone who was there to experience the beautiful place that Javi calls home. And I now leave being able to call Javi a good friend. I believe this is what Workaway was designed for. Javi is an incredibly generous human. Sadly this has been taken advantage of in the past so if you are lucky enough to visit Galizano, respect his generosity/trust and give him the work/appreciation he deserves. Javi is an easygoing, joyful, calm and collected individual who has a wealth of wisdom. This made it a relaxing and inspiring environment. I really loved our deep conversations and good laughs. He is not one to preach so I recommend taking the opportunity to ask some insightful questions and see what you can discuss/learn from each other.  I’m not usually the biggest cat lover but Nordes is a cat with an awesomely mad personality that I grew to love. He is certain to give you a laugh or two each day.  At times Javi was away with work but his communication was on point. I can safely say his communication while away was better than that of some people who were present in my previous Workaways. This made life really smooth.  I could go on and on but I’ll finish by saying, if you put in the effort you will leave this place with a lot of joy and a sense of belonging. For that, I’m extremely grateful.  Thank you Javi!

2,5 weeks at Francisca's place: What a beautiful experience. I stayed in a covered caravan with it's own little outdoorkitchen. It's the most cozy off-grid place you can imagine. Creative female energy is all over the place. We did a few things to make the place even more beautiful as it already is. For instance we created an upcycling outdoor shower, what was really cool. It was always a nice balance of doing things together and alone. We had daily check-ins and we decided together regarding to our needs how the day is going to look like. Here you can find also a very good balance between doing things for the project and doing things for yourself, between working and relaxing as well. Chilling in a hammock, dipping in the river, going to little events or markets in the area is some of the things we or I did here. The area is awesome. Beautiful nature everywhere with lots of rivers, forest, wild animals and sounds. There is an intercultural community with many interesting and open people. Francisca is a beautiful human being and a great host. I experienced her as warmhearted, caring, good in open & honest communication, generous, funny, authentic and wise. We had so many deeper talks AND laughter. I truly appreciate that mix. I feel connected to Francisca in a special way and I am sure we will see each other again. Dominique is a breath of fresh air ❤ He joind me in a very rainy spring and never complained about the weather 😊. He seems easygoing and chill, yet very well organized and hardworking - which is a great and not easy to find combination, in my experience. We had a great time together and I appreciate the help he gave very very much. He was patient enough to harvest spinach and garlic days on end, process and freeze it for us to have some nice supply over winter. We did some cool rose jam and elder flower jelly and a great poppy cordial - all interesting and some new recipes for me as well. It was nice to see how carefull he was about the set tasks in the household and how thoughtfull he was about the small details arround the yard. Thanks to his help, there was time to wander, watch birds and go hiking together and I felt once again very lucky and grateful for having such encounters. He will be a great host someday. 🥰

Maribel vino por unos cuantos dias y nos la pasamos muy alegre. Tiene una energia muy autentica y facilidad para hablar de los caminos de la mente, la vida. Tomo iniciativa y me ayudo a decorar y darle energia al lugar. Cantamos, pintamos, tocamos musica... Se paso el tiempo rapido. Se adapto al lugar y trajo un espiritu bonito, claro y con buena onda. Fue muy alegre tenerla por aca en la montañita y compartir

Thank you Mizuki! You shared us sunshine even when it was raining! And good company as well as delicious meals you prepared us. We are very satisfied with the work you did, beatifully stacked piles of firewoods and all other things done very nicely. We want to meantion especially you initiative and how easy it was for us to be your host. You amazed both of us and our friends with you finnish language. We know it is not easy to learn. Kiitos! We spend 3 weeks in George's site. 🌳 We have been introduced to permaculture world: raised bed gardening, hot composting, stone and clay construction, food forest, water collection and reuse, and many others! The tasks were varied: building bed gardening, strimming, collecting logs (fire prevention), clay work with Sarah, construction work with Frank, setting stones mulch around small trees, occasionally helping Emy in the kitchen (thank you for every nourishing and delicious veg meals 🥑🥬💓) and so on. We were sleeping in one of the caravans, everything is as described in the profile, we were close to compost toilet and the suggestive shower into the forest. Normally we had a truck of our use to move around in the afternoon or going to some beautiful beaches nearby. We recommend this place, besides the work surrounded by nature, if you want to share communal spaces with many others wanderers from all around the world. ✨ We are so grateful we met so beautiful, shiny and playful people there! We miss them already! Thank you George for hosting us and for create this community. ❤️

Dear Synnøve and Jens I really enjoyed staying in your place!! Every single days were extraordinary. I did weeding, painting (it was my first time doing it!), making Masks, making our instrument etc. even weeding, I really liked it, as the garden was so nice I felt plenty of nature there. I got used to snails.haha You two’s thoughtful, loving nature inspired me a lot. I could use a bike, so I enjoyed cycling as well when my free time. Thanks for Synnøve, I discovered many local places, met local people, joined local festivals and also learned permaculture (she made me connect with Martin and Boaft who do permaculture farming!). Thanks for Jens, I really really enjoyed meal in Denmark!!! His cooking was so good. I got some recipes from him, I will try to make them! Some times he helped me without words. He is cool! Thank you for welcoming me to your home:) I hope I will come back there one day. Unfortunately my English is poor so it’s not enough to explain my feelings though. Just I highly recommend anyone to come and work there with them! I’m sure you will find real beautiful Denmark!! Mange tak for Synnøve, Jens and everyone who I met !!!!!!!!! ARIGATOU GOZAIMASHITA:)

I spent two weeks volunteering with this wonderful family. The work was really enjoyable, and Mikey took the time to explain everything to me in great detail, so I learned a lot about permaculture. It’s important to note that it’s a physically demanding job, which was exactly what I was looking for. They have a very sweet daughter, and I loved spending time with her. In addition to working together, we also shared meals (Joey and Mikey cook amazingly well!!!), conversations, movie nights, and more. They made me feel at home the entire time, and they are such a lovely family. I 100% recommend this volunteering experience!

Thank you for this wonderful experience in Berne in this international community. Chagai welcomed me like a member of his family and I felt at home right from the start. Communication was easy. Lots of exchanges, activities shared together, great times with people from all over the world... Lots of sharing and meeting new people. Everyone participates and helps out in a good mood. It was a wonderful time with both of them. My wife Yasemin was finally able to eat healthy meals again, because they are an amazing cook. We all started to feel a bit guilty because she spoiled us so much with her culinary skills. She was very calm but always warm-hearted. Only after a few days, when she had warmed up to us, we could truly see what a precious person she is. Osman is an open-minded person who immediately finds his way around everywhere. He was a great help to us. Our daughter grew so fond of both of them over those two weeks that she still keeps asking about them. We laughed a lot, had good conversations, and above all, they were always very polite and never in any way intrusive. Unfortunately, the time was too short.

Aye and Keto were a real pleasure to host! They’re very friendly, kind, and open-minded, and we quickly felt at ease together. They were genuinely curious about Belgian culture and daily life, and we had some great conversations around those topics. It was also lovely to share meals and fun card games with them. They were very motivated, eager to help, and worked really well on the renovation tasks. They quickly became autonomous and were a big help. I definitely had a great week with their company and shared great moments! I’d definitely recommend them to any future host!

I had a wonderful experience at Lombos Garden...🌞 It was a special and new experience for me, even though I had experience with yoga and meditation. The work in the garden is really physical, but for me the work in nature and working with plants was really grounding. It felt like I did something good for the earth. I really like the concept of working as a meditation! We're really used to do things fast and we forget to be aware of things. I'm glad that Luisa and Pujari tried to teach us that more. In general I can recommend that place and I'm planning to come back one day! Besides that, I met wonderful people there, that I won't forget! Thanks a lot!

Femke war für ca. zwei Wochen Teil unseres Teams und hat sich vom ersten Tag an hervorragend eingefügt. Sie war sehr aufmerksam, interessiert und engagiert – immer bereit, neue Aufgaben zu übernehmen und Verantwortung zu tragen. Während ihres Aufenthalts hat sie uns in mehreren Bereichen tatkräftig unterstützt: bei der Zubereitung traditioneller Spezialitäten in der Küche, im Housekeeping, bei der Begrüßung und Betreuung unserer Gäste sowie bei der Gartenarbeit. Besonders hervorzuheben ist ihre große Sorgfalt – jede Aufgabe, die ihr anvertraut wurde, hat sie mit hoher Präzision und Verlässlichkeit ausgeführt. Femke war für unser Projekt eine echte Bereicherung. Wir hätten sie gerne länger bei uns behalten und wünschen ihr für ihre weiteren Reisen und Erfahrungen alles erdenklich Gute!

Our experience in this wonderful family is more than 5stars. From the first moment we were so warming welcome!!! Roman was so nice to drive us at the beginning and at the end of our staying!!! Tereza was amazing to prepare delicious breakfast every morning...and great tipycal czech food for lunch. The two little girls are so lovely and we really miss playing with them!!! The apartment was perfect, all equipped, cleaned and quite!! It's in the center with all the shops around and close to Roman's family. We spent time biking along the river and playing beach volleyball. There is a fantastic sporting centre very close. We visited Prague and Kutna Hora, we really suggest it!!! We spent 9 days together but it was so quick and we really would love to come again . Thank you for the love you gave to us. You are in our hearts and our home is open to you too. Big hugs to all of you.

Jacob and Francisca were really nice made made really good food for me and another workawayer, the land was beautiful. I got a lot of experience with volunteering here including plants, agriculture, and working with sheep. the days of work went by really fast because you get different jobs of work each day so you were always learning new stuff. I would love to come back and visit or work sometime in the future.i had a really fun time here with the people, animals and land.

Eszter spend about 6 weeks at our place in summer of 2023. We were really happy with having her here and still remember the time fondly! Our project was in its first year then, so a lot of things were only finished half way, and we had many challenges in our garden still. Eszter was a tremendous help during her stay: she understood everything fast and worked diligently. At least as important to us is that she has been a great guest to have around. Our conversations and the time spent together has always been very pleasant, and she made friends with other volunteers (and our daughters) too. We were sad to see her leave... Eszter, we wish you all the best and hope that your next workaway experience will be as enjoyable as the time spent with us!

It was a pleasure to host Esther at our place. She is not only creative but also full of energy and was always ready to help with whatever tasks we needed. She single-handedly tackled the construction of a cement pond and completed it in the blistering heat—a true trooper! We made essential oils together, and Esther was eager to experiment with a new extraction: curry plants. The jury's still out on that one! The most enduring gift Esther left behind was a collection of beautiful illustrations for each of the seed types in our seed bank. We shared many fascinating conversations over dinner, ranging from AI to her van-life adventures. All in all, it was wonderful to meet Esther, and we would recommend her without hesitation. Thank you for sharing your time and your love with us.
