Hi! I stayed at Krischas place for 5 days and learned/understood a lot during this short but fruitful period. I appreciate her kindness, authenticity and honesty, it is very refreshing. Also, thanks to her I could discover this area: see Arnis, the smallest town in Germany and just have a dialogue with space and wild nature. Take care.

We had a wonderful time in Sicily with Christa and Turi, we stayed there about a week. They are very welcoming and excited for new travellers! We arrived after a very hot summer in September and it was very clear Sicily is not like the rest of Italy, but beautiful nonetheless. The place is rather remote and hard to get to, so they picked us up at Catania Airport. After that, the car ride is about 30 minutes from there. There are two guest buildings as stated, one apartment and one small studio, both adjacent to the house. The house itself is an old wine processing facility they marvellously restored for their main living space, the surrounding area is a beautiful old vineyard at the feet of Mount Etna. The work mainly involves taking care of said vineyard, garden and various tasks around the farm or house as they can no longer do some of the work themselves. As such, they are very appreciative and flexible in working hours and arrangements. It is advisable however to take the weather into account and avoid the mid-day Sicilian heat if you're not used to it. Turi is a great cook and they provide great food, dinners and conversations, luckily I can speak quite some Italian as English is a bit difficult sometimes. The surrounding area is amazing for hikes, bike rides and is great for outdoor activities. However there isn't much else to do around and the nearest town is about 15 minutes by car. Public transport is close to non-existent; there are literally four busses a day that take 60-90 minutes to the get to the nearest city (Catania). These depart from unmarked locations in said nearest town. So if you want to visit any other city like Catania, Syracuse or Taormina in your free time you'll either need tons of extra time and research or rely heavily on the host for a ride. Thankfully, they helped us get to Catania most of the time, but personally I don't like requesting additional help during off-time. Luckily once you get to Catania, most connections become very easy. Take into account that it might not work out so very easily for everyone due to varying circumstances. Overall a great experience, wonderful weather and environment and thanks again to Turi and Christa for going the extra mile with help getting around.

Hi there !! 🌼😁 We spent one month at Marit’s place, and it was incredible! Marit is a wonderful woman, kind, patient, and full of love. We did different types of work, and it was always enjoyable: gardening, harvesting potatoes, and fixing a few things before winter. The beach house is a beautiful place, surrounded by the fjord and the mountains. We feel so lucky to have spent all this time there! We also met Pavel and Veronika, two of Marit’s good friends, and we really enjoyed having dinners with all of them, it was so much fun and such a nice experience! Thank you for everything, Marit. It was truly a pleasure meeting you! ❤️ And, have a good winter ❄️ !!

I stayed close to 3 weeks here. I taught English at the local kindergarten, 9-12:30, and 3-6. The teachers and the kids were super lovely and welcoming. The teachers don't speak English but we communicated using google translate. The family were also welcoming, and staying with Bata was absolute a great time. He introduced me to his friends, and we drank together. The bathroom was outdoor squat toilet for the reference. The shower froze in the autumn time so I had to use the public shower 5 minute walk away from the house. Thanks for everything Bata, it was a great experience of Mörön.

Clementine and Thomas were an absolute pleasure to host! Communication was excellent from the start — clear, friendly, and reliable. Clementine was a huge help supporting my daughter with her studies, and her patience and kindness really stood out. Thomas was incredibly handy with maintenance work and got through several jobs efficiently and with great skill. They were both respectful, positive, and easy to have around. I’d happily recommend them to any future host and would welcome them back anytime!

I spent 3 weeks with Anke and Stefan and it really was wonderful!! It was my first time working with Workaway and travelling alone. I was nervous in the beginning, but they made me feel at home so fast. Anke and Stefan are kind people, who really listen and want the best for you. They explain the work very well and there was a lot of variation in the work which was great! The way how they work with the horses is really beautiful and interesting. The surrounding is amazing and I did many hikes and rides in the forest. I learned so many good things which I will cherish forever. Thank you so much Anke and Stefan💕

I spent around 10 days at Ute's house and it was beautiful, Ute is a very kind and strong single mother raising her teenage children (Fred and Liv) so wonderfully. I helped around the house organising certain rooms and areas such as the pantry, the winter garden and the garage. I felt very comfortable in her house and the surrounding areas were stunning and it was also very easy to use public transport to get into Berlin. I would be so happy to visit again in the future! Thank you Ute for having me!

Wow! Alberto is a very generous, cool dude. He likes his food and is a very good cook. You'll definitely learn a lot about the local cuisine and wild food. Jara is a sweetheart . It truly is a great place to disconnect and enjoy nature. I could have stayed for months but had to leave to see my sister nearby. One of the best experiences you could have on Workaway, where you do your best but receive tenfold and leave having made a new friend. Gracias hermano.

I am almost 2 months here and i really got to know the family well .The family embodies the spirit of community and kindness. Their welcoming nature creates a warm atmosphere for everyone around them. They are always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it's assisting with local events or offering support to neighbors in need. Their genuine smiles and friendly conversations make them a joy to be around. They truly make it a nice experience for me being in Rivas , i would really recommend it to everyone!

This review has been months in the making because it is hard to capture our experience with Amy and Danny. We are honored to have been two of the first ones to leave our mark (and sweat) on the land. They are both extremely talented and charismatic people, it has been truly inspiring to be in their presence. Amy as project leader brings dynamism, humor and a great vision to the space. She is so vital and has a truly intriguing mind if you are lucky enough to sit down and get to know her. Her curious and creative outlook on life has been amazing to be around. Danny's knowledge is genius, almost as extraordinary as his remarkable life stories. He is a practical man, who finds beauty in simplicity. He can create and build out of anything, honors every material and finds a purpose for it ! We have learnt a lot from him about techniques of eco-building and feel motivated to build our own eco-home one day. Also he makes great kefir!! As for the other two project members, Lady and Coco, our new furry friends, they have stolen our hearts! Each has their distinct personality. We have enjoyed giving them cuddles and being greeted by them with so much love!! Falling asleep to the sounds of nature has been special. We all had to power through the hottest month of the year (May),but we all found a natural rhythm as a team and were able to motivate each other and still be productive. This happened organically because they were so patient and understanding with our needs and gave us willpower. Sometimes just being there with them was motivation enough as we felt as invested in this project as they are. These two also have great knowledge about Mexico and Zipolite with its hidden beaches, great places to eat and drink. We have received a lot of useful recommendations of places to visit for the continuation of our trip through the country, that are hidden gems only known by locals. They also welcomed us into their social life and their extensive friend group. We honestly felt so loved and well looked after. Thank you for having the interest in getting to know us deeper, beyond this project. It is impossible not to love you guys! We miss you, dear friends. We are so excited to see how this project grows and we hope to come back and contribute some more in the near future! Lots of love! xxx M&M

I spent two weeks with Marzena and Jacob (and the cats) and had such a lovely time. This was my first ever workaway experience and so far the best I've had. Marzena is truly one of the kindest, most generous people I have had the pleasure of meeting and she is such a role model for a strong independent woman. Her cooking was delicious, I really enjoyed Jacobs mushroom tour and loved putting my curation skills to use in displaying all of the artwork Marzena has collected and made over the years. She lives in a beautiful place in Denmark, close to the beach and within reach to other smaller towns and the train station into Copenhagen. I hope I will see you again Marzena, Jacob, Shnooshka, Lulu and my baby Mrumru <3

Thank you, Shelly and Layla and Bodhi! I felt welcome from the very first moment I set foot in the house. I spent around one month in September at Shelly’s place. Shelly is a super mom, we had many wonderful talks, and I learned a lot from her as she has so much life experience to share. Layla and Bodhi are super sweet, energetic kids who always bring joy to the day. I helped with housework and joined a trip to Albany to help pack for the move. It was a lovely experience being part of their family life, warm and lively.

Hi Astrid ❤️❤️❤️, and thank you for all the help you gave me staying at my paradise- the beachhouse by the sea. You were doing all kinds of work, easily and willingly. You saw what was needed to be done and came up with good solutions when there was a problem. It was great to get to know you!

Oh… Wow! I stayed at Majken's home for five exciting weeks in autumn (September to October). In my time staying there I also met a mother from Germany with her son, a great guy from Czech Republic and a Spanish couple (all other workawayers). There are sooo many reasons why this was a wonderful workaway experience that I tried to organise my thoughts, and I think I can divide them into three main topics: Overview: 1. Natural surroundings with lovely animals 2. Majken is just great :) 3. A lot of different projects Description: 1. Natural surroundings with lovely animals The (quite old) house with the big and beautiful garden (including a vegetable garden) is surrounded by meadows, fields, and forests. 200 meters from the house is a little lake, and there is a raft which you can use to get out onto the water. The area with the house and a few other old buildings is located just outside a tiny village (it's more a bunch of a few houses), so it's super quiet and peaceful! (For the young people who need WiFi like me: The internet connection is very good, don't worry!) The garden is really big! There are a few apple trees in the "normal" garden, then you have the vegetable garden, and of course there is the big terrace where you can sit and relax! And there is a second little terrace next to the vegetable garden from where you can have a look over the neighbour's field. In the vegetable garden are many different vegetables and fruits. We could always go out and get a few raspberries for breakfast, or some potatoes for lunch / dinner (please note that I visited Majken in autumn). In the greenhouse are very sweet grapes and even more tomatoes! Considering the animals: Cheeky chickens, funny cats, lovely dogs and horses are waiting for you! I had the opportunity to ride out with Majken on one of the Icelandic horses, it was really great! The dogs have a lot of energy, play with each other and run out and in and out of the house. If Majken is working, the workawayer needs to feed the animals early in the morning (but most of the time Majken is at home and will do it). The house is very cosy, and the wood stove is great when it gets colder! 2. Majken is just great :) Majken is such a wonderful, creative, energetic, friendly, flexible and caring person!!! She is so nice and always asked me if I'm ok with the tasks, and I always could do a break if I needed it. And she asked me every morning if I had slept well, I will never forget that! I would also like to mention her cooking skills. Whatever is growing in the garden, she will do some magic and - Voilà - there's something delicious! That does not mean that she will cook every day. Sometimes she or a workawayer will cook for everyone, sometimes everyone just looks after themselves. You never have to come to eat with the others if you are not hungry / not in the mood for conversation and other people, everything about meals is flexible. And the homemade bread is very good, too! You can have a talk about life with her (Majken is very good in English!!), have a laugh or get lost in plans for the next project... ;) Thank you so much for showing me the Harry Potter movies!!! :) 3. A lot of different projects Well, this point can be a bit overwhelming in the first few days. Majken has so many ideas, plans and projects going on... Renovating the old buildings, painting, construction ideas, ... (At this point, I would like to mention the pizza oven that needs to be built, because I hope the next time I visit Majken this one is finished and ready to "create" a lot of pizzas ;) .) And of course there's also the usual cleaning stuff, feeding the animals and weeding in the garden. However, for the workawayers it's pretty cool to have so much stuff going on, because you can often choose what you would like to do, and if you don't feel like weeding, you can paint something, if you don't feel like painting, you can build something, and so on ... (Sometimes there is something that has to be done, but dear reader, I guess you get the point.) I can only say: I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! I wish Majken all the very best for the future, I hope we will see each other again!!!! See you Eva

It was a pleasure to volunteer for Agata & Tamir. At their guesthouse and the calligraphy centre. They welcomed me with an open heart. Always taking care, that all volunteers have everything they need. Whether it was cooking equipment, food or enough warm blankets for colder nights. :) A rich variety of different tasks. Also supporting the volunteers' strengths. For example, I had the chance to organise and run a workshop myself. I did learn a lot during my stay - not only about script and calligraphy, also about the Mongolian way of living. Agata and Tamir, many thanks for this great experience.

Ania is one truly special soul! From the moment she arrived in Goroka, she brought sunshine and big energy to my project. She helped lift my whole homestay to a new level — from designing flyers, posters, postcards, and booking graphics to making my dream book “Introduction to Beehive Construction” look professional and beautiful. 🐝 She also helped me decorate the homestay, write traveler notes, create guesthouse listings, and even prepare products for the Goroka Show! She’s full of ideas, quick to adapt, and always ready to give 200% of her heart. Ania is creative, reliable, and fun to work with — always smiling, respectful, and full of good energy. She can do marketing, graphic design, social media, photography — and she really understands how to lift a project with soul. For any future host: you are lucky if Ania comes to your place! She will bring art, vision, and a big heart. Tenkyu tru, my sister — yu save wok strong na yu gat bigpela spirit. 🌺 You’ll always have a home in Goroka with our family. 🍯💛

I stayed at Pieter and Tinne’s farm for two weeks as my first Workaway, and honestly, it was a wonderful experience; I’m so glad this was where I started my journey. Getting there was simple, and Tinne kindly picked me up from the bus stop before welcoming me into their beautiful home for dinner. The farm itself is absolutely gorgeous and peaceful, waking up to see sheep grazing right outside the house felt like a dream for a city person like me. The garden is beautifully maintained, and I was lucky to catch the cherry blossoms and wisteria in bloom. Pieter also let us pick oranges, grapefruits, and lemons from his trees, and every night you can stargaze right from the property. I loved that they usually host more than one Workawayer, so you get to meet other travellers too. I stayed with a lovely couple from the UK; we cooked together, went on walks to spot wombats at night, and had picnics on the hills with the most stunning sunset. It was fun watching the curious cows everyday as well :) The accommodation was perfect; a spacious yet cozy separate house with a fireplace for cold nights, a comfy bed with warm duvets, strong hot water, and a fully equipped kitchen. During my stay, we mostly worked independently; Pieter gave us simple, clear tasks each morning, such as gardening (weeding, pruning, mulching, watering, planting) and general cleaning (windows, pool, etc.). Tinne was kind, often taking us to the grocery store when we needed things and even dropping us off at Healesville village on weekends to explore. I already miss Scruff greeting us every morning and watching her run around the tractor as well Mo charging towards us all the time. It was a truly comfortable and meaningful start to my time in Australia. Thank you so much, Pieter and Tinne, for welcoming us into your beautiful farm and making it such a memorable experience!

Maie was everything we had expected from her description and more. She had all the qualities she described and got on with the tasks we needed to do understanding what was expected with the minimum of instruction. She completed jobs to a high standard and at a quick pace. Maie was interested in the local social and cultural facts and took the opportunity of our location to travel to interesting nearby noteworthy places. Nearer home Maie was good company during shared time, offering interesting conversation. In all she was the perfect workawayer . Thank you Maie.
