I had a wonderful time with Marta and her family. They all were very welcome, friendly and always absolutely nice! I enjoyed the familylife and also, the animals (dogs, cats and chickens) were very nice. The house, the property and the surroundings are very impressiv and I enjoyed the great landscape and the beautiful view. Also, the projects and tasks were great, it was always something different and I learned new things. Marta is a lovely person and I´m so glad to have met her. Thank you so much for this amazing experience!

Alex and Claire are wonderful people. They are very open and they host volenteers for all the right reasons. They were there for us whenever possible and tried to spend time with us, but also leaving us enough private time and space. I think this is a very fine line to walk and they are really doing a great job at it :). I always had the feeling that we are in this as a team, not just the volunteers but also Alex and Claire. It is not that often that you find people who put so much heart into hosting volunteers. And in doing so they made my stay very pleasant eventhough the circumstances might not have been perfect. Quick shoutout to all the volunteers who are reeding this: The Oliveharvest is no easy job, but it is rewarding and it was very much fun to me. Working as a team and finishing the day as one is just great. If you have a day off (which most likely is a rainy day) take the car around the mountains, the weather might be better just a few villages ahead ;). Or ask Alex for a church history tour, those are great!!

I have to say I was very lucky to have Lubo as a Workawayer in my place. He came all the way to Japan from Sweden through many countries and arrive here in the summer when it was super hot. First of all, he is a very nice and friendly guy. He is as old as me but got along with younger Workawayers very well, and everyone loved him. He is very skilled with DIY works, and he definitely helped renovating one room a lot. He can make a plan about how to renovate a room and instruct younger Workawayers how to work. As a result, the room became very beautiful while Workawayers were enjoying working with him. In addition, he proactively cleaned the rooms and organized the things which I was very impressed. I hope he will come back here some day, and I highly recommend him to any Workaway hosts!

I stayed Valeria house for two weeks, and Catania was such a beautiful city full of history. Valelia is incredibly intelligent, strong, kind, and also sensitive and charming!! Above all, I truly felt she is a wonderful mother. Even with her busy schedule, she manages everything at home, and I was treated to many delicious homemade meals. I’m really grateful for everything. The house is very clean and secure. I had my own private room with a dedicated bathroom, and I was able to stay comfortably. One of the luckiest things during my stay was being able to join her daughter’s 18th birthday party. I’m sure the preparation was a lot of work, but being part of such an important event for Italian families became a very special memory for me. My experience here was truly valuable. The tasks—pool care, house cleaning, and some garden maintenance—were not difficult, and I also had plenty of free time. I enjoyed exploring Catania, and I even took day trips to Mount Etna, Siracusa, Taormina, and Messina. The public transport from the house is a little limited, but once you get used to the buses and metro, getting around is quite manageable. I’m grateful for such a wonderful to meet. I would be very happy to visit again someday. Thanks again Valelia.

Jeanne and her friend Sarah were a joy to have around. We had good and fun conversations and Jeanne showed a big interest in many things, which got her to know finally who the famous Monsieur Creosote is. Apart from helping us with olive picking they did the dishes and even cooked once for us which we appreciate very much. We can 100% recommend her.

Anna and Honza stayed with us at the end of the summer for two weeks, which passed too quickly. They were such a sweet couple, whose teamwork was excellent. They both were very kind, polite, tidy, multiskilled and intelligent with a good sense of humour. During their stay they built and fixed a lot of bigger and smaller things here and there, being very skilled in using different tools. Honza helped in designing and starting the foundation for the new gazebo, which hopefully will be constructed next summer. They took good care of the animals and kept the kitchen nice tidy, in addition to all other various tasks they did during those couple of weeks in the yard and the garden. We really enjoyed their cooking, having the opportunity to taste many Czech specialities. We shared may interesting discussions many good laughs over the dinners! We also made nice outings to the forest to forage mushrooms and berries. A detail worth mentioning is that they spoke English, not Czech, with each other whenever there were other people around, which is actually a very nice thing to do. It was a pleasure to host them, hoping to see them again!

We spent one week at Peter and Ann's place with my friend Sarah during the olive harvest. We felt very welcomed, the Workaway house is very pretty and comfortable. We had a great time with our lovely hosts and fellow volunteers at work and during meals, and we're thankful to Peter for sharing his knowledge about bees and the nature around with us, and to Ann for making sure our every needs were met. This is definitely a perfect Workaway, with everything being very nicely organised, we warmly recommend.

Matěj stayed with us for about two weeks and helped with various building and repair projects in the garage and around the house. He was appreciative of the space and respectful of our home. He is not a noisy person, and the atmosphere in the house stayed calm while he was here. We shared many meals together and played Catan a couple of evenings. He mentioned he enjoyed the tranquility of our mountain life. We wish him all the best on his onward travels.

Fiorella, Antony, and Liam supported us during a very complex transition period. They always maintained constant communication and demonstrated excellent follow-up on the activities that needed to be carried out on site. In addition, they managed to find a good space nearby for Liam to play with other children, while they contributed to reviving this place with their energy and unique personalities. We would be happy to collaborate with them again in the future.

We had the privilege to be the starting point for the Great Tour in the North of the two adventurers Fanny and Manu. They spent three weeks with us in October. Such a nice and hard-working duo! These easy guests seamlessly adapted themselves to our everyday life. Maiko the Dog adopted them immediately, following them everywhere. Manu and Fanny enjoyed working outdoors despite the often gloomy and rainy weather: they harvested and prepared the garden and the property for the winter and next spring, turned soil and moved tons of wheelbarrows full of compost. They did not seem to get tired of physical work at all. They were eager and skillful enough to fix many smaller and bigger items using electric tools. Once a week they cooked us a French dinner - what a delight! Not forgetting that they took care of most of the daily animal care with great responsibility. Fanny and Manu were very interested in Finnish culture, food and customs, and to try all new things like foraging autumn mushrooms and cranberries in the marshland, going for cold water swimming or to eat moose. They became enthusiastic sauna persons who impatiently waited for snow and Aurora Borealis. So great to see such curiosity, joy of life and lack of prejudices. We communicated mostly in French, but they also made progress in English during their stay. We wish them all the best for the continuation for their big journey, a lot of new wonderful experiences and hope to see them again! Bon courage!

Silja joined us for two busy weeks in July, but that time passed much too quickly. We were delighted when she came back in September for another 4-5 weeks, already like a family member. Silja described herself as a typical Estonian: slow thinking, hard working. The latter part was definitely true, the first part absolutely not 😊. In addition to be hardworking, Silja is calm, smart, kind, practical, reliable, has good sense of humour – and is very determinant when she decides something. When she came back, she had decided only to speak Finnish, and that is what she did. Even if it took sometimes time to express more complicated issues, she did not choose an easier way. What a courage, what a determination! She had the same attitude to working, be it hay work, gardening, taking care of animals, mocking animal sheds, fixing places, cleaning or any other tasks. She and Auymi made up an excellent team in cleaning and painting the chicken coop as brand new. She got well along with everyone coming and going in the summer, but on the other hand, she had no problem at all to enjoy her own company during the quiet autumn period when there were no other guests and we were busy with our paid jobs. She enjoyed the forest: to take long walks with the dog or on horseback, or to forage mushrooms and berries. To share the everyday life, discussion and laughs with Silja during those weeks was extremely easy and pleasant. To be able to trust her without any worries the care for the animals during Hanna’s one-week-absence was an absolute relief. We hope she keeps on visiting us also in the future!

Solveig and Julius stayed with us for a week. They helped us manage the garden, take care of our pets and farm animals, and help us with small projects. They brought so much joy and great company, always joking and ready to take on any task that needed doing. We have wonderful memories and hope to see you again one day. In the meantime, we wish you all the best and good luck. Hugs from Stefano, Francesca, Leo, and Bjorn ♥️♥️

I am really grateful to Heather, Mohammed, Hiba, Yusef for hosting me so kindly, and showing me somw cities around Morocco, I was glad to be part of their family life. Everyday was different and brand new. I enjoyed having some time for my self as much as doing activities together, it was a good balance. The kids were nice to me they are really creative and artistic, Yusef can transform a plastic tube into a fishing gear, and Hiba can craft a bag or a skirt out of a piece of cloth. I have learn about fishing, and I've got a lot of inspiration on creating jewelleries and drawings. Yusef was enthusiast for the many little things we've done togethe: popping pop corns, doing origami, ride the scooter, planting seeds, carolling, cutting veggies.... With Hiba I had fun trying out some gymnastics, and doing some walk-talk. Overall, the environment is a calm but never boring. I could feel the cultural matching in the life of the American-Moroccans. A mix of Christmas and cous cous. I had the chance to meet other foreign people in the local surrounding we went to a play, by the ocean, to the local market and pubblic spa. The traditional meals home made were delicious. Thank you a lot! take care of your dreams and nourish your inner sparkle of magic.

Jill is an incredible woman! She is so strong, intelligent, kind, and passionate. You can really feel the love that she’s put into her food forest, and it felt so special to be able to contribute to it. Her home and her presence is very healing... I left Jill’s place feeling more confident and more myself. I hope I can be like her one day! Jill, it was such a pleasure hearing about all the different lives you’ve lived, listening to the wild stories you have, and having thoughtful conversations about culture and the environment over the most delicious and nutritious food. I only wish I could’ve stayed longer! Thank you for taking the time to teach me about syntropy and weaving!
