Cleo and Mille were perfect workawayers, always available for any challenge, ready to contribute to any proposed activity and offer their own solutions when needed. Very curious and interested in local culture, they greatly appreciated our cuisine, the beauty of Naples and Herculaneum at the archaeological site where I work, and exploring the small towns around our countryside. They were great with Vito, who had so much fun and looked forward to playing with them in the evenings. We absolutely recommend them to all hosts and wish them both fantastic and exciting adventures around the world!

Adari is far away from the hubbub of cities. The noise here is the call of the muezzin, the chanting at wedding feasts, the clacking of looms and children calling "Chachu, chachu" to attract the attention of their favourite uncle who provides them with a safe space to develop beyond the constraints of their environment. Satyam explains that the name of the education project, project name refers to consciousness. "Let's raise children who don't have to recover from their childhood." The format of the project is currently undergoing change, an exciting learning curve for all involved. Opening the gate led me into the heart of a rural community where I sat with the women sifting rice, walked through the fields to be invited into homes to drink sweet tea, laughed at goats wearing coats and shopped for fresh vegetables with children in tow. Closing the gate invited me into simple homeliness that gave me as adult the same kind of belonging that the children find here. As a seasoned teacher my view on teaching shifted through engaging, meaningful conversations. Consciousness and integrity is lived here.

Lobke and Onno are wonderful people, and we couldn’t have asked for a better workaway experience. They are kind, considerate, and lovely. They helped us with a range of different projects, they are hard working and give their very best with each job. They are very respectful; they understand that each projects means a lot to the host, and they complete every job with a lot of care and intention. They are really honest people, and they enjoy taking care of the people and land around them. We felt it was such an easy experience to host them; we progressed so much in our work, and felt such a pleasant energy and flow between us all. We had many wonderful meals together and shared beautiful stories. It was an aboslute pleasure to host Onno and Lobke, they are beauiful couple. We can really feel they supported us from the heart, and we feel blessed to know them. Thank you so so much! We wish you the best of luck on your journey and hope to see you again soon.

I spent five weeks at the farm together with Emma and the other volunteers, and from the very beginning Beate and Christian made us feel welcome. The place itself is amazing, full of tropical fruits I had never even heard of before. Everything is homemade and very healthy, and Beate prepared delicious food for us every day. Some of the things I enjoyed the most were spending time with the cats, drinking smoothies made from fresh tropical fruits, and relaxing in the garden among the banana trees. We had plenty of free time, which we loved spending with exploring the area by bike or hitchhiking. The beaches are unbelievably beautiful, with white sand, crystal-clear blue water and the whole area is also a climbing paradise. Christian and Beate’s mornings start with reading the Bible, as their faith is an important part of their everyday life. It was genuinely interesting to meet people who look at the world from such a different perspective than us . They are very thoughtful people and we learned a lot from them. We really enjoyed spending time in Sardinia!

We had a great time and enjoyed staying there.

I stayed at the school for a little over three weeks, and it was a wonderful experience. It took me a few days to adjust to the rhythm and lifestyle there, but once I did, everything began to flow naturally and I truly felt like part of a small, safe, and welcoming community. Holy was very attentive to my well-being, frequently checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly. His lovely mother prepared healthy lunches and dinners for us (there were four volunteers during my stay), and she also made snacks for the children during their break times. The other teachers and staff members were incredibly kind and welcoming as well. Chatting and joking with them felt natural, and we would sometimes go out to eat together after school. The students, ranging in age from 3 to 18 and divided into morning, afternoon, and evening classes, were curious, enthusiastic, and playful. I stayed with the three other volunteers in a dormitory within the school. The dorm had air conditioning, a bathroom with a toilet, and plenty of space to move around comfortably. Overall, once I settled into the routine, the experience was both meaningful and enriching. It taught me a lot about myself and offered me a new perspective on the world and on how other countries function. It was fun, fulfilling, and I am grateful to Holy and all the school members for welcoming me so warmly and encouraging me to participate in the community. FOR WORKAWAYERS curious about a typical day, here is what mine looked like: - First class: 7:30–10:30 a.m. (with a 30-minute break) - Lunch break: 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. We volunteers usually ate together at the “Tree House,” a platform-style space surrounded by greenery, equipped with a fan and offering a nice view of the river. It was the perfect place to relax. - Second class: 1:30–4:30 p.m. (with a 30-minute break) I taught students aged 3-5 and co-taught with Teacher S. The children were adorable and cheerful. Always eager to learn and often rushing to bring me a chair when I entered the classroom. The teacher was also very welcoming and happy to have me there. During my morning break, I would often buy a refreshing coconut coffee from the shop across the street and chat a little with the lovely shopkeeper.

Ayano stayed with us for seven weeks, and she was an absolute delight from start to finish. She has such a sweet and gentle presence — incredibly easy to be around, calm, respectful, and quietly reliable in all the best ways. Her sense of routine and order is truly impressive. Everything she did was thoughtful, organised, and done with real attention to detail. She followed our house rules perfectly and always seemed to know what needed doing without ever being asked twice. Ayano is extremely self-sufficient and never once complained about anything. She just got on with things with such grace and positivity. Hosting her was effortless, and she brought such a peaceful, grounding energy into our home. We’re very grateful for the time she spent with us and would welcome her back again without hesitation. Any family will be lucky to host her. — Naomi and family 💛

Gabie and Agnes always went above and beyond for us! They were the kind of helpful who are so helpful that you didn't realise you needed the help that they gave until they gave it without you even asking (think extra kitchen cleaning, entertaining the kids and actually enjoying it and moral support for a frazzled working mum). These are two down to earth, great fun, kind and intelligent women. They are also very hard working. We had some hard-core bush weeding to do, and they didn't leave till it was done, I tell you the piles of weeds were 10 times as big as them. Life was fund with these two around and we miss them greatly.

I was looking to get paid in France and I couldn't have asked for nicer, more generous and funnier hosts than Anne and Tom. They welcomed me in the Chateau de Trévien since the first day they took over the castle and let me work a lot of hours, which allowed me to buy my dream van, instead of a cheap one. I spent over a month there and I did a lot of gardening, taming the vegetation that grew wild for years, I painted windows and walls, prepped the walls for painting and did some cleaning. There's a cold water lake with a south facing sandy beach just a ten minute drive away. The nearby town Carmaux has all the supermarkets and a really nice organic grocery store.

I spent two weeks with Jane and another Workawayer. Because of the winter time the house was a little bit quieter than in summer but still there were friends around, I could join the dance and yoga classes, we did hiking and funny bicycle trips, played games in the evening and more. I felt so welcome and happy that I found a wonderful place with Jane the kindest soul and very funny as the heart of the house.

David and Cassandre were excellent volunteers. They were kind, friendly, and very proactive with their tasks. Responsible, easy to work with, and always willing to help, they brought great energy to the hostel. We truly enjoyed having them here and appreciate all their support. Any host would be lucky to have them. Highly recommended!

Me and my girlfriend, stayed with Brigitta, Luca and Vito for 1 month. They are a super kind family and we had a really good experience working for them. They are good at giving recommendations and take you interesting places (ex. dancing tango or lindyhop) and just so helpful and nice to be around. The worktasks varied a lot, which was nice. We did everything from working in the garden and taking care of the chickens, to cleaning and sometimes taking care of Vito. We also did a lot of fun things together like making Christmas decorations, homemade soap and much more. They are always there to help you with if you have a problem. We got sick while we were there and bri brought medicine, tea and food to us, so we felt very taken care of. Their son Vito is so sweet and energetic, so it was fun to be around him. We recommend you to work for them, if you want to stay with a sweet family, get the best insides for Naples and have a really good time🧚🏻🧚🏻

Kristian stayed here at the farmhouse for a month, and his contribution was invaluable. From a professional standpoint, he's very skilled and capable in everything related to garden and plant maintenance. But the most important thing is his openness to conversation, his smile, and his generosity, which made his presence a great gift from God. Thank you, Kristian, and see you soon.

It's a privilege having the opportunity to stay with this family and in Lorinna. It was inspiring and damn refreshing to live somewhere where things work well and are sustainable, all while being amusing and beautiful. Nick and Arana are very hard working, and when we visited in spring it was a busy time. There's lots to do so you can voice your preferred tasks. We had lots of dinners and game nights with neighbors and old friends visiting. Most days we tried to help with preparing dinner and shared doing dishes. We enjoyed the big canvas tent we stayed in and had lots of bedding to keep ourselves warm. My partner and I helped with various interesting and spontaneous tasks. One day could look like digging out garden beds, weeding, and chopping wood. Others were helping with a roof demolition and replacing truck suspension. Without asking both Nick and Arana happily taught us lots, and they would explain the philosophy behind how they did and built things. We found the jobs satisfying and learnt things we'd use ourselves in the future. Nick and Arana are both very knowledgeable of Tasmania, and will set you up with the best hike recommendations. We're super grateful of how Nick helped us to fix up some cosmetics on our well used car. We'd absolutely recommended this workaway if you want to get your hands dirty in some of the most beautiful soils.

Staying with Shelly and Brei was the best decision we could have made. As it was our first workaway experience we were pretty nervous but they made us feel at home and at ease from the very first moment. Brei showed us with a lot of patience the routine around the stable and was always ready to reexplain if we didn't understand something. Additionally, everyone at the barn is extremely sweet, and we already miss them. You will have a lot of fun with the horses as they all have their own personalities and you really get to know them while working with them. In between chores we still had a lot of free time to walk the pups, bake and to work with the horses. :) If you choose to stay with Shelly and Brei you can be sure that they will make sure that you can fullfill your bucketlist. So if you are looking for a once in a lifetime experience with incredible kind people, breathtaking nature and the sweetest animals, you should definitely stay with them! Please give the pups, Stella and Spero kisses from us and a lot of love. We already miss you guys! We definitely want to come back. PS: Thank you Shelly for teaching us how to play Catan like Champions ;)
