We stayed one week with Kari and our time with her was amazing! Our main responsibilities were helping out with a party including cooking, set up, and clean up. Throughout the week we helped around the house and garden. Kari was an excellent host and showed us around the area and introduced us to other artists in the community. We could not have asked for a better Workaway experience!

Getting to know Ana has been truly special. She is dedicated, responsible, uses her time wisely, and carries the richness of her travels in everything she does. She makes beautiful music and has the courage to push herself to grow. I’m very happy to have met her.

Marie spoiled us with great cooking, the best cottage pie I ever tasted. Merlow, our Dog loved her. She always played with him, took him for walks and gave him heaps of belly rubs. She helped to clean the house, did gardening and helped me in my pottery studio for a few days. We went away in our Motorhome for a few days and she looked after our house and watered the veggie garden. When we came back home she had dinner all prepared which we really appreciated as we were tired after a long drive. Marie is a very kind and sensitive person, she is a very considerate house guest, we enjoyed hosting her.

This is the best Workaway experience I have had so far. I was able to experience everything I wanted and more, I could give back to the community, experience life with Indonesian locals, learn their ways and their culture, see beautiful spots, and all away from tourists. Ari took me to cool places every day, like waterfalls, beaches, viewpoints. I feel very lucky for these 2 weeks I spent here, and I miss the family very much. When i look back on my time it brings a tear to my eye! Ari and the family are so respectful, incredibly kind and want to make sure you have the best experience, i really feel like i have another family in Indonesia now. They go out of their way for you to experience the foods, drinks, snacks, traditions and they are very curious about you and your life. We never ran out of things to talk about and had a lot of deep conversations, but also the home is very chill and easy going, i always felt relaxed there. Behind the house there is a beautiful view of the mountain and pretty fields i enjoyed walking there in my free time. FYI you will have a lot of free time and there isn't much to do around other than when you teach a little or when Ari takes you out, so it is good to have a hobby and something to keep you busy, for me I studied my PADI theory so it was perfect to have some downtime. The people in the neighbourhood are also kind, (often looking at you as if they've seen an alien ;)) and excited to speak with you. I loved the little kids that lived nearby, they are adorable. Every day they would come to the house peek into the gate and ask to see me it was the cutest thing. I really enjoyed teaching them, I felt like i was making a difference. It was Ramadan so i only taught a little bit a day in the evening, usually you would teach at the school. Also there is so much food always, delicious fruits and the mum makes amazing Indonesian food. The home was good for me and i had my own simple room with wifi, it was very much like a traditional Indonesian house I believe so expect that the toilet and shower is outside. Also just a note that females are politely asked to cover their head when at the school, was not an issue for me but bear in mind. Also best to dress modestly otherwise you will get a lot of stares. This has been my favourite time in Indonesia and i wish i would rewind time and experience it all again! 100% recommend. Stay open to the new experiences offered, say YES and make the most of everything, you'll find it incredibly rewarding.

Thank you Sarndra! I had the loveliest stay with you. Your garden is so beautiful and working in it was so special, I learnt so much. The tasks very varied and enjoyable, and you were really communicative and extremely fair about working hours and days off which was great. You were so generous in how you shared your home, your time, your stories and your New Zealand reccs! I really felt at home here. I have been travelling by myself and your friendship was really appreciated. I hope to keep in touch, and see you again perhaps in Scotland! Thank you again for such a rewarding and special time.

I spent 2.5 wonderful and interesting weeks with Sanne, Maxime and their 3 kids in their cozy French home! Right from arrival, I was welcomed with open arms, making me instantly feel like a family member. My tasks were light and varied, starting with gardening work (picking kiwis, pruning a tree, painting the fence) when it was still sunny outside and housework once the weather started to get cold (e.g. vacuuming, cleaning the windows, picking up the girls from school + cooking an easy meal). All the time, Sanne and Maxime were incredibly flexible with my tasks and always asked me if I feel good with my responsibilities or if I would like to change anything. I always enjoyed the playtime with Indy and Loua or eating together with the whole family in the evening (the meals were always incredibly delicious!). My room was perfect—a spacious room with a comfy double bed. Maxime and Sanne kindly gave me a lift to Lyon when I wanted to go there, whenever they went there for work. In addition, Sanne showed me a couple of the surrounding villages, which was super interesting and I really enjoyed! All in all, I had a wonderful time with an authentic French (and Dutch ;)) family life. Speaking always in French, I could improve my French language skills as well. J'ai passé un séjour très chouette chez vous - merci beaucoup pour ce temps !

We had a wonderful time with Mathilde and Raphael. They worked hard and never complained, even though circumstances meant we had to offer different work than what they signed up for. (Too much rain to paint a house!) They were both very social, and independent, both of which we appreciated. We love company, but we live in very small house, so independence is a great attribute for us. They were not fussy, about accommodation or food...in fact, it was a real joy to create dinners for such appreciative young people. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting Workaways.

My brother and I spent the most amazing 10 days at Stefanie's in November. She truly made us feel at home and the food she cooked was just delcious! Not only is her home beautiful, but the Otago Peninsula is spectacular. We really loved exploring the area, but also enjoyed just relaxing at the house. The work was great. We mostly helped out in the garden and with the animals. We will definitely stop by again when we're back in the area. Thanks again for everything, Stefanie!

This was our first Workaway and it was such an unforgettable experience! Joep and Juul are so passionate about what they do and their passion is infectious. We quickly learned a lot about reforestation aswell as traditional building techniques which they use on their beautiful stretch of land. They made us feel very welcome and Juuls' homemade bread will be very missed! We also met lots of lovely people who were using the campsite... Would definitely recommend !!

Patty come for a short time, and that is pity.. lovely person, hardworking and nice company. Patty have been a great help.. we understand each other perfectly.. I love cooking together… Best souschef. Patty is always welcome back. ..

Daan and Jacob were an absolute pleasure to have stay in our home. They were polite, respectful and extremely helpful with the variety of tasks we needed doing. I would highly recommend this lovely young couple and would happily host them again.

Gaizka is an excellent Worker. He is pleasant, friendly and hardworking. He does not count hours but is more than willing to go the second mile. Gaizka is very versatile. He can drive and is very willing and is willing to go on errands. He can also handle the tractor. Gaizka is also very adept in the kitchen. We highly recommend him as a Workawayer.

I am so very thankful to have stayed with Craig and Rachel for my first month in Aotearoa/NZ. They are incredibly kind, great conversationalists, easy-going, and astonishingly generous; my time with them flew. I worked on a variety of projects — weeding invasives, helping create a living roof for one of their cob buildings, distributing mulch, re-graveling paths and driveways… Work days are about five hours, with an unscheduled break somewhere in the middle. Sometimes I would start early and eat afterwards, sometimes I’d do a couple short snack breaks instead of a longer lunch… the schedule can be very flexible. After work (or on days off) there is lots to do!! Goat Island Marine Reserve is a short walk from their place, and I often went to swim and relax on the beach. There is also a snorkel mask and kayak that you can borrow. There are several other beaches that I frequented, and many walks and cute shops to discover. For my first few weeks, I didn’t have a car, and Craig and Rachel were so!! generous in taking me along to see different beaches (they swim nearly every day), dropping me at the market for a few hours so I could wander while they ran errands, and showing me around in general. There is plenty to see within walking distance, but they showed me some amazing places I couldn’t have gotten to without a car. I'm very grateful. As for food, I will parrot all the other reviews and concur that Craig is an INCREDIBLE cook. I don’t know whether I’ve been blessed or cursed with having such good food at my first ever workaway experience… Craig cooks dinner for everyone every evening, and they supply any food you might want for breakfasts and lunches (which you fix yourself). They go into town several times a week and were always asking me if I needed anything from the grocery. You will not go hungry! Overall, it was a lot of sweat, laughter, natural beauty, and learning — quite fabulous in its entirety. Thank you Craig!! Thank you Rachel!!

Jose is absolutely lovely! He was great to talk to when we were in the house together, and took incredible care of the house and cats when we were away. The place was spotless clean when we got home, and all cats were very pleased! We would absolutely recommend Jose, and would be happy to have him stay with us again.

Hoda is a lovely friendly girl with a positive attitude. Always eager to try new things and experience all that our area had to offer, including swimming in the coldest (!) water, she quickly became a friend!

Olga, Carlo y Río.. mi experiencia con ustedes fue realmente transformadora. Son una familia muy especial, atenta, amable y divertida, con la cual he compartido momentos muy hermosos. Aprendí muchísimo en su tierra, en la huerta, los fin de semanas de recoleccion de olivas, jugando y compartiendo con Rio, el cual se robó mi corazón y también me enseñó muchisimo.. es un niño muy especial, muy divertido, cariñoso con el cual estableci un vínculo muy importante.. En mis momentos libres me enseñó Olga algunos primeros puntos en bordado, ella es un ser con una energía, entusiasmo, conciencia de la tierra y la vida realmente especial.. hace unos bordados increíbles (seguiré aprendiendo jaj). Carlo también es una persona que ha estado siempre dispuesto a ayudarme, con el cual tuvimos muy lindas conversaciones, tiene una energía y una calidez que te hace sentir en casa. Compartimos riquísimas comidas hechas a conciencia, con amor y súper nutritivas.. toda la manada de perros, gatos y gallinas han sido muy especiales y divertidos.. el lugar en el que viven es un paraíso, rodeado de naturaleza, con unas puestas de sol que son magníficas. Les agradezco muchísimo por permitirme habitar su espacio y aportar mi ayuda en las diferentes actividades del día a día. Los llevo en mi corazón y me encantaría volver a visitarlos pronto

Alex was a wonderful volunteer to host! He is very kind, respectful, and always eager to help. Every task we asked of him was done with ease and always with a big smile. On top of that, he plays great music on his guitar, which brought a lovely atmosphere to our place. We truly appreciated his presence and support, and we would absolutely recommend him to any future host!

Filippo is a friendly and easy-going lad who is always positive, flexible and eager to help! We enjoyed his company and we really recommend him to other hosts!

Hosting Olivier and Juliette was an absolute pleasure. They stayed with me for two weeks and helped build a toilet and bathroom for my camping area — and what amazing professionals they turned out to be. Even though the weather was cold, they worked incredibly hard and with great determination. If we were missing just one hour to finish a task, they never made any problem and were always willing to help until the job was properly done. Their work ethic is truly admirable. I will be grateful to them probably for the rest of my life for cleaning my workshop — they did it so well that I still can’t believe it! On top of that, they were kind, calm, polite, and fully respected all the rules of my home. I recommend them with all my heart, and I hope our paths will cross again one day.

I had a wonderful time at the ranch! I arranged to come with my rescue dog Rani and I was told I could stay in the trailer. But as the weather got colder, Jurgen and Tanya kindly improvised a warm little room for us — which was such a thoughtful gesture. Communication was easy, and there was so much hospitality and openness. Every morning started with a lovely coffee moment with Jurgen, and I always felt welcome. After coffee and breakfast we would start working at the ranch. I enjoyed working here and helping out during the day where I could! Rani was treated like one of the family — when they found out it was her birthday, they even surprised her with a little toy and a sweet note! She was allowed to run freely in the riding hall every day for a moment (ofcourse when there were no horses riding) and we and truly enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. I joined for beautiful sunset rides almost daily and felt really connected to both the place and the people. I’ll definitely stay in touch and would love to return one day.
