One of the things I remember most about Hime is her joyful laughter. She isn’t afraid of tackling jobs that she’s never done before and does so with energy and enthusiasm every time. I went away for a few days and she had no qualms about staying in the house alone. Hime finished off the project we’d discussed (painting part of the inside of the barn) and took care of my two cats. She’s independent as well as being very warm and friendly. I enjoyed her company very much, as did my friends who continue to ask after her.

Carla was an absolute delight, she is a kind, bright, hardworking and very committed person. Our kids really enjoyed her company and you could genuinely see that Carla enjoyed their company too. She was always child lead in her play with them, jumping on the trampoline, making art, playing football, going in the pool, playing on the beach, she was up for it all. Carla stayed with us for a month and she slotted into the day to day running of our home immediately, she is exceptionally clean and uses her initiative really well. She was always up for new experiences weather it was in work or socially. Carla is a very considerate, sweet and interesting girl with a great sense of humour, I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone considering her as a workaway. We would happily have her back again in the future.

It was an absolute pleasure to host Pedro. Although we hosted him in winter when it was nearly 0 degrees outside, regardless Pedro was always willing to help and assist regardless the challenge and often on his own initiative. We got to enjoy a lot of time in conversation sharing life experience. Pedro is very well put together and is a very capable human being. We are very thankful and grateful for his contribution and the time we spent together.

Nanami stayed here for 2 weeks and helped us a lot😊 She has a friendly personality and can communicate well with many people in all activities. We are happy to host her and provide her with new experiences, especially regarding the people and culture in Sri Lanka. It's also because she tried to dive into them by herself. We would be very happy if this experience becomes one of the key triggers for her new exciting adventures. Arigato👋

I had a truly wonderful experience with this Family. Alaitz and Rafael are incredibly warm-hearted people, and their children are bright, sunny and full of curiosity. Even though I didn’t speak Spanish, we were still able to communicate surprisingly well. The kids were so open and eager to connect that we quickly found our own little way of understanding each other. From the very beginning, I felt welcome and safe. I settled in quickly because I always knew I could ask whenever I was unsure about something. Their home is a beautiful place, and everything was so well taken care of that I never had to worry about anything. This was my first Workaway experience, and I couldn’t have wished for a better start. They supported me in every way from daily life to helpful tips and recommendations for weekend trips. I’m truly grateful for this time and wouldn’t want to miss this experience for anything. Much Love to this wonderful Family

We are grateful and happy that Eva spent 3 weeks with us. She radiates a great deal of calm and peace, which makes her a very pleasant person to be around. Sometimes we didn’t see her—only the results of her work showed us: aha, Eva was here! She is conscientious and hardworking. Eva was a tremendous help with all the tasks on the finca: weed patrol, mowing, freeing cacti from a scale infestation, providing valuable daily support in the kitchen, removing soil from the chicken enclosure, pruning plants… truly an all-round talent. Thank you also for the conversations. Eva has a vast wealth of experience as a volunteer. Anyone who hosts her can consider themselves lucky. All the best, dear Eva!

I spent 4 unforgettable weeks at Sanctuary Under the Stars🌟 I got to know what it is like to care with your whole being and risk everything to save someone's life. It was a beautiful and a very teaching experience. All the kids were wonderful and I got to know pretty much everyone <3 George the rooster joined the sanctuary while I was staying and he became a really good friend. I miss his loud persona🫶🏼 Andy and Dalina were welcoming and warm. It felt like I was staying at a friends' place. I spent a lot of time doing different jobs with Andy during the mornings or afternoons. Andy was good at giving instructions and let me also solve some tasks on my own. On my stay I did a lot of waterpipes, finished building the shed, rolled and moved watertanks, of course fed the kids<3, did meds with the moo kids, did some fencing, moved solarpanels, built some garden beds and cleaned out the caravan. We also drove around with the quad bike every day. I had a lot of time for myself as well and that's when I went on walks in the forest and discovered some beautiful trees! If your into tree climbing, there are hundreds of climbable trees on their property. I hanged out with the kids a lot and enjoyed the silence. It truly felt like a break from civilization and society. The room i stayed in was cozy and the bed was really comfy! During my stay i pretty much just used the lawn as a toilet and George kept me company in the evenings when i went to visit him in his toilet house for number twos xD There was a warm outdoor shower and the kids were there to give u company <3 The nightsky was breathtakingly beatiful and i got to experience the brightest full moon ever. I saw two rainbows and shooting stars. I only left the property around 3 times. I would’ve had more chances but chose to stay there. If u don’t have ur own vehicle like me ur pretty much just going to hangout at the property and then do errands at the nearest city of Whangārei every now and then. Their property is very secluded and that is something u have to keep in mind before coming. I personally enjoyed this tons because I value my own time. Their wifi worked nicely and I could enjoy my series and movies during rainy days :) Andy and Dalina provided all the food and Andy cooked the dinners most nights. I cooked a few times and was always helping with the dishes. Breakfast and lunch were self service and I finally got into PB&J sandwiches! I totally get the hype ;P Thank you Andy and Dalina for having me and letting me experience ur life and sharing ur values and thoughts with me. I’ve learned countless things that I would not have learned anywhere else. My visit to your sanctuary has changed the way I look at life and other beings and has made me realize that most people are not even aware of the things that you guys wholeheartefly believe in. I’ve realized that the majority of people are ignorant because they lack the awareness and there is no one to challenge their beliefs. Thank you for sharing and teaching me ur beliefs, it has been life changing. The work your doing is truly inspiring. I miss life with you and the kids so much :’) Sending you all the love ❤️

I had such a wonderful time staying with Izabella on her beautiful property. The work was varied each day which I loved - it was great to get stuck into a variety of tasks from outdoor painting & gardening, to cleaning out the lovely goat pens, cooking, and even some bus renovation. I bonded quickly with both Izabella and the goats (lucky enough to see two little newborns arrive), and felt very grateful to be in such a positive environment, with both calming and uplifting energy. I also had plenty of down time in the afternoons and was able to explore the community and take part in the weekly yoga class, visit the cafe, and swim in the nearby stream. I only wish I could have stayed longer! I hope to stop by again. Thank you for everything. Sending extra big hugs to Dusk & Dawn :)

My girlfriend and I volunteered in Nozawaonsen for one month and had an incredible experience. The work mainly consisted of cleaning the accommodation ready for ski season. The mandatory hours were from 9-12am and any hours that we chose to do after that were paid. This was a great exchange as we were able to save a bit of money for our next trip! Everyone we worked with was absolutely lovely and the team of Akira, Kei and Saki were the best. We really felt at home and our private room was amazing, in one of the hotels .The town is relatively small but has a lot of restaurants, cafes and bars. There's a bus every hour or so into the next town where you can catch a bus to Nagano and beyond. We would love to come back to Nozawaonsen in the future!

For my first workaway experience, I couldn’t have chosen better than the beautiful and cozy farm of Cathrin and Tim. From the location where I could explore the countryside but also other cities to the nice apartment I could stay in and, of course, the fantastic meals. My day was filled with interesting tasks, including things on the property and taking care of the cute animals such as sheep, chickens, and dogs. I’m really grateful for the experience and the things I was able to learn. Thanks again for the great time, Cathrin and Tim!

I stayed with Rita from August to December 2025. During Summer and Fall we did some work around the house, prepared for Winter and started training the Dogs with the ATV. My Task was to take care of the dogs in the morning which means feeding them, letting the out to play and keeping the dogyard clean. I the beginning Rita would show me everything and after a couple of days i started to do it alone. Working with the dogs is a fantastic thing. Especially after i got better at reading them which i was taught well by Rita. The best thing was the training, first with the ATV and later with the sledge. The Area around Alta is beautiful, both with and without snow. I lived in my own Cabin, where i had everything i needed. Besides of the Huskies there where three house dogs which i spent a lot of time with as well going for walks or just cuddeling on the couch. All of the dogs are amazing, unique and very friendly. I had a great time in Alta and miss each one of them. I am definitly considering coming back one day and recommend a stay there to everyone who is ok with having lots of dogs and only few humans around them. It was always possible to take a day or a few of if rita is not working, but for me it was barely neccesary because spending time with the dogs was all i wanted to do.

I experienced such warm hospitality and was truly spoiled during my two-week stay at Marta and Miran’s home. And if it weren’t for visa limitations, I would have stayed longer without hesitation. From the moment I arrived, they treated me like a VIP. When I visited, their house was under renovation, so cleaning and moving furniture became the main tasks. But the real heart of my days was spending hours sitting & talking with them over endless cups of coffee (which I loved), along with Marta’s incredible lunches, bread, and pastries. (Potica was incredibly delicious!) Slovenia is such an interesting country, with a blend of cultural influences from all its neighbors. They taught me so much about Slovenian culture and history, things I had absolutely no idea about before. They are wonderfully open-minded, always listening to my story, deeply loving animals, and caring about every living creature. Everything they do is filled with care, responsibility, and love. What touched me was how well they remember every workawayer or visitor who has stayed with them. It shows how much they value each encounter. Listening to their stories and seeing how open-hearted and compassionate they are truly inspired me. I’d recommend this workaway to anyone who’s on a journey to become a better human being:)

I arrived here and was greeted with a instant invitation to rest, relax, feel at home and take a few days to settle in as well as given a very clear set of detailed information regarding schedule and cultural practices to help me feel at ease with what the expectations are for my month there. If you are looking for a workaway where you do your hours/get food and a bed - this isn't it! This is a space to go with the flow, embrace the community, open your mind and heart to being part of a unique way of living and to study yourself deeper and learn about Buddhist practices and pristine mind. The schedule is changeable and leaning into that and seeing what lessons it gives you was something I enjoyed the challenge of - 430am wakeups, chanting until 2am, karaoke in Busan - all part of a meaningful month of embracing each moment as it comes. I cherished time in study together, loved the 108 bows, embraced early morning meditation (although did fall asleep a few times!) felt so grateful to all the delicious food at Cafe Narang as well as meals out with the community. I came away with a deeper sense of appreciation of being in the moment, of seeing humanity as one and of leading with love, of true honesty with what my own personal boundaries are and a real sense of love for the life I live and the way in which I choose to navigate the planet. Due to being winter, my main community work was helping in the cafe making cookies and helping with canapes for events as well as general cleaning duties and washing up for the community after meal and tea times. If you do have dietary requests or are working with any chronic illnesses that need consideration, discuss this with the community, they are deeply caring and full of compassion - yet you do need to be open minded that you work and live as one and the practices do encourage letting go of personal autonomy to get a richer understanding of the teachings. I won't forget my time here and the friendships made and this village is one of the most memorable workaway experiences I've had.
