Marah turned WorkAway into a FamilyAway! That's the only way how to describe that I went for "a few months" and stayed for 8!! I loved it and love them so much! I lived with them from March till the end of October. And we had an amazing time! I got to know Marah and all her friends, explore Bitonto, Bari and other cities in Apulia (Regione Puglia). I visited my home country Estonia twice, Malta once and spent the whole August in Tunisia with Marah and her extended family and all the relatives. I cannot even begin to describe the Tunisian hospitality and openness of the people, they truly treated me as a sister and made me feel like one of them in both Italy and Tunisia! Marah is an amazing friend, housemate and the most generous person in the world! She is also a patient teacher, who was more than happy to use only Italian with me that helped my vocabulary and grammar make a huge jump! Not mention how well she cooks and how much we laughed together :) It is an honour that her baby will call me an auntie! Because oh Kamar, my sweetheart! Amo la mia bambolina!! What a privilege it is to see how a 1,5-month-old teenytiny baby became a 9-month-old sitting and moving signorina! All the walks with the stroller, playing in the park, mealtimes and the happiest little face when she sees you in the morning just melt my heart! We still make videocalls weekly and I can't wait to return in January to celebrate her first birthday 🫶 See you soon!!

We had such a wonderful experience at the garden! Rana is such a kind, compassionate and positive Person that's full of love. She would always make sure that we are comfortable and don't work too hard. It felt soo good to talk to her about anything, because she is so understandind and wise. Her food is very delicious too! The house and the garden feel very magical, especially because of Loopie. He's like an old wizard because he has this sense of wisdom and calm. Also he LOVES cuddles of all kind. The cuddliest cat I've met! I already miss Loopie 😔 There's lots of interesting books and beautiful artworks in Rana's home and you can learn a lot from her. I highly recommend this wonderful woman as a Host! The place has so much to offer, even in cold, sad December it was beautiful. I hope we can come back someday! Lots of love💫

Best place ever with crazy people. Super free place, "if you want to take one week of, then take it" told me Mateus (such an interesting person). All the workawayers I met were very crazy people, I was so happy to play ping pong with everybody (available table to practice). Right into the city, super close to markets, you have bus and fery to go to Lisbon. Best bifana ever 10 min walking from the front door. I recommend the place if you want something unforgettable!

Our stay with Bishwo and Lena was wonderful, they are such kind, understanding, and motivating people to be around. We always felt that we were in good hands :) it was so nice to be in Bhaktapur and to experience a bit of the country. The projects were great fun and the team of workawayers were lovely. We hope our paths cross again! Thank you for the experience.

I spent a month in mid-summer with Bernhard at his permaculture forest garden in Wels. The work was pretty fair and well explained; it mainly consisted of gathering and picking fruits such as plums, tomatoes, and apples. Apple cider making was my highlight and something I really enjoyed learning. Bernhard is a very knowledgeable person with a big heart. More than a host, he became a friend. Through many deep conversations and shared activities - from music events to swimming in the river - he helped me gain a deeper understanding of nature and permaculture. I also felt very welcome because of his kind parents, especially thanks to his mother’s homemade cakes and sweets. Highly recommended for those who seek meaningful experiences in nature and with people.

I spent two months with Vincent and Denise, and it truly was a wonderful experience. I loved the work with the animals. Both Vincent and Denise were incredibly kind and made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. They were always accommodating, made sure I was doing well, and offered a nice variety of tasks so the work never felt repetitive. I also really appreciated our lovely chats. And the dinners were varied and delicious, something I looked forward to every day. Thank you both for such a great stay!

It was a pleasure to host Gabi for almost 2 months. She helped us with a wide variety of jobs and my little baby loved her! She made delicious desserts for us while she was here and initiated multiple dances which were great fun. Thank you so much for all your support. Good luck with your next steps ❤️

It was a pleasure to have Florian at our place, easy to work with, easy to have fun with and share meal times and adventures😊

You could say, I had the winter special edition at Shakti's wonderful camping place. She is so nice and respectful. The work was varied and fun. I met a lot of good humans and experienced a relaxed and also excited stay. During the work I had my best Coworker Paula with me, but also Piccolina and Leo had a visit. Thank you so much!

Coralie is a rare and ancient soul, carrying a depth of compassion that is felt immediately by all beings around her. She receives Master Sunyata’s teachings not only with her mind, but with her heart — and her understanding flows from a place far beyond intellectual learning. Within her rest many hidden gifts, waiting to be discovered, refined, and used with wisdom. She possesses an intuitive communion with nature and animals, a sensitivity that reveals her true path as a guardian of life. Though she may not yet fully recognize the magnitude of this connection, it is already alive within her. Coralie holds the potential of a future leader — one who leads not through force, but through presence, kindness, and deep inner clarity. Her journey has only begun, and the light she carries will grow stronger as she steps into the truth of ONENESS. ☀️💗

We loved having Louis and Serena stay at our homestay - they are genuinely great humans! They did bush regeneration, clearing large areas of lantana and also painting very high tricky round walls in our house that we are eternally grateful for! They both have an abundance of integrity, energy and willingness to help out - they are also fun to hang out with and they slotted into our community really well! Would have them back in a flash :)

Vraiment merci beaucoup, Clemence. Clemence stayed with me for less that two weeks, and after few days I felt she was the kind of person you are happy to have around. She is kind in a genuine way, always respectful, always attentive, and she has this gentle curiosity that makes every activity enjoyable. I was also able to go to Milan for three days and she was alone in charge of the house and the farm. Perfect! We worked together on so many different things — gardening, we planted onions, weeding the artichokes, looking after the chickens and some house tasks — and she was always focused, careful, and ready to learn. But what really impressed me was the work she did at the end: repairing the old plaster in a room of the trullo, the one that used to be the old kitchen. It was her very first time using trowels, including the American trowel, and yet she picked it up incredibly fast. Beyond the work, she brought a really warm presence to the house. She’s someone you can talk to easily, someone who pays attention, someone who doesn’t rush but also doesn’t waste a moment. I felt a very natural harmony working with her — and that is something you can’t plan and you can’t fake. I hope she will come back one day. She is welcome here anytime, and I recommend her to any host without hesitation. You will be very lucky to have her. P.S. Just a short note about timing and precision. I know there is a stereotype that Italians are not very punctual (!), but I actually try to be quite precise. When I have three, four, sometimes even five workawayers at the same time and we need to have breakfast at six or seven in the morning, it really matters that everyone is on time. Otherwise one person is still sleeping, another is in the bathroom, and in the end everything is a mess. For me, being precise is simply a form of respect — for the group and for each other. We always stop working at a clear, fixed hour, and I make sure nobody helps more than the agreed five hours a day. I try to be organised, yes, but hopefully not too much. In my experience, a little precision helps everyone feel comfortable and treated in a fairly way.

We spent about 3 weeks with Joanne and Reed, and what a memorable experience we had! They're both very generous and attentive hosts, who made us feel at home since day one. Their house is beautiful and our room was very comfortable. We helped them with varied tasks, including painting, gardening and animals feeding, and they always showed appreciation for our work, which was very encouraging (and we got rewarded everyday with Joanne's delicious meals!) We really enjoyed spending time with them both (and their two lovely dogs, Bisou and Bentley) and shared great conversations and good laughs. We can't recommend them enough and are already looking forward to see them again someday! Merci pour tout!

Lena is an excellent person, she was always willing to help me, with enough time to play with Sia. She found the resources to be able to treat Sia at all difficult moments. My daughter always remembers her fondly and we hope she'll come back next year as there are still many things she wants to see in Barcelona!!

What a fantastic few weeks we had with this beautiful couple! Antoine and Juliette settled in here with us and the cats like they belonged!! They are kind and thoughtful people, interesting to talk with and really enjoyed making the most of our beautiful local areas. They were enthusiastic workers who completed so many amazing jobs around our property!! From creating new gardens with arches (grow little pumpkins grow!!), to moving the compost, rabbit proofing the main garden to clearing out sadly neglected pockets of yard! They did everything really well, learned new skills quickly and were very conscientious of doing a good job! They were fun to work alongside and also very capable of being shown the job and left to it if we had other things to do! Cooking!! I can't forget to mention this. Wow... A real treat to have a duo get in the kitchen and create fabulous meals for us on a regular basis! Both Jeff and I enjoyed all the culinary delights and felt quite spoiled! We also enjoyed a few hiking adventures together and it's really lovely to have people with us that love the surrounding areas as much as we do! We miss them already, but we know they will have a great time on their Tasmanian travels and look forward to when they drop back in! They will be welcomed with open arms!!

What a warming experience! I stayed with Mel and Aslan in their welcoming, relaxed and green enclosed home for a week, but I wish I was able to stay longer. Mel gave me some different possible tasks to choose from everyday. From weeding, to getting some groceries, cleaning the porch, creating a biodiversity sign….., and setting up the Christmas tree. I personally loved to work in the garden, so my tasks varied from weeding to helping Mel redecorate the chook’s enclosure. I found all the tasks very enjoyable and rewarding. During my time off I went for beautiful walks through the dunes and on the beach as well as visited towns as recommended to me (and dropped off when possible) by Mel. She also took me to see the rock pools, which I absolutely recommend visiting. I can’t thank Mel enough for this amazing experience and her kind heartedness as well as the delicious meals and interesting conversations and chats we had together. Mel welcomed me with a home away from home. This is something I will never forget. Thank you Mel!

Hi David and Ilse, hope you are doing well and enjoy your life! As we already told you, it was great to have you here. I was perfectly satisfied with all your jobs. It was a pleasure to do some hard gardenwork in this great weather of June together. I can just reccommend your work, character, pianoplaying, cooking and simply your loving nature to every host! Thanks for doing some exercise (jogging) with the little fat pony... i´m afraid, he could need it again... We look at the little picture you gave us and remember the fun time we had together, playing with the kids, playing card game, talking until late in the night. With you the best for your life and hope to see you again someday... Greets, Thesie, Paddy and kids

We stayed with Toru here for 6 days — it was an amazing time and a highlight of our trip. Toru was so open and genuine with his goals and vision for the place—it was very inspirational! Toru takes a very fluid approach to hosting WorkAwayers: if you see something that inspires you around the house, you are welcome to do it! Toru is genuinely using Workaway to contribute positively to the local community of Hagi, and to provide a space for visitors to make what they want of the workaway. His heart and intentions are generous. Come into this with an open mind and a generous attitude and you’ll have a great time. While we were there, Toru showed us a local carpentry studio and took us to a local onsen. George offered to take photos for the carpenter for use on his website , and this ended up being one of George's workaway tasks - taking photos of a craftsman at work. This is a good example of how Toru encourages you to help in any way the community needs. We filled our days with creative work designing a porch area and creating a document to help future workawayers be self sufficient. Then we would cycle into town and explore the sites! We had plenty of time to explore. There’s so much to see: pottery studios, very beautiful old preserved homes, sake tasting, museums, a temple. We found Hagi to be one of our favourite places in our two month trip to Japan. Everyone was incredibly kind. It’s a very quiet gentle town, and a great way to see semi rural Japanese life play out. We cannot emphasize enough how lovely it was to get to spend time with Toru! He is such a generous, kind, and creative person who seeks to give back to his community. He is an inspiration! If you are an independent and motivated person with a desire to learn and share, we really recommend staying here ! George and Avery

Absolut empfehlenswert!
