I really enjoyed volunteering here! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It's a very social hostel so you meet lots of people. The yoga classes were chill and mostly consisted of beginner groups. The social media tasks were pretty chill and as described, they are just glad to have you there. Sumudu wants to make the hostel the best experience for everyone in all ways so he was great to work with. Would love to visit again one day!

Ian was incredibly helpful in the boatyard, keen to pitch in with any job with a positive attitude, and was great company while we were sailing. His ability to make friends wherever we went led to some fantastic experiences. Ideal crewmate, cannot recommend enough.

It was a pleasure to have Josephine as a workawayer, she fit into the project really well helping with the cats, chickens, some small projects in the garden and in the kitchen cooking and baking✨ It was also lovely to explore the area and spend free time all together with the other workawayers who were here during her stay:)

Ryuji is a very seasoned workawayer and we can clearly see why he is so popular! He has a fantastic work ethic, keen to learn and experience everything, he's gentle, has a great sense of humour, is really good and natural with animals , very adaptable, cheerful, and just great to have around! He's only been gone 1 day and we miss him terribly! Thank goodness his English is very good cause our Japanese is terrible!! Ryuji- we hope to see you again!

I stayed with Vera, Segoi and Bart for a couple weeks, and really enjoyed all my time spent there. Vera is a kind and accommodating host, the kind of person you can have a conversation over a glass of wine and a vinyl of Fleetwood Mac. She made sure my stay was comfortable, took time out of her day to show me around and include me in local activities. I truly felt welcomed. The tasks probably depend on the season, but in general the work wasn't heavy or tiring, just help around the garden and general maintenance of the farm. I learned a lot about handling and pruning an overgrown garden with the help of Vera's eccentric and wise friend Bert. He was equally kind and also showed me around when he could, and was precious company. After a few hours of working with nature in the morning and afternoon, there was plenty of time left for exploring, biking around, taking walks and contemplating. I already miss the time I had there, and really hope to visit everyone again. The flatlands of the countryside often overcast and divided by canals and can feel like they go on forever, but I never felt lonely.

David & Yanli where an absolute pleasure to host. Both incredibly clean and respectful. We experienced an incredibly delicious mostly Chinese cuisine cooked by Yanli, using ingredients from the farm. And David built wooden shelves he masterfully treated and applied on the walls. They're Dog Lulu was also super fun! He slept in the van and was great company during the day, also very respectful and not at all noisy. I welcome you both back whenever you'd like!

I spent 3 weeks here with Elisabetta and Francesco and it was one of the best choices I ever made. Time passed so quickly because I had a lot of fun end there is so much to do if you want to keep you busy, but it also felt like I spent there an eternity, because I learnt a lot: everything Francesco or Elisabetta do it's worth to be learnt and they are excellent teachers, patient and precise. We prepared the soil, we put the seeds, we transplanted the cabbages, we collected the eggs, we looked after the bees, we made the sauce, we cooked our vegetables, we looked for mushrooms, we painted a sign, we built a stair! We sang toghther, we made jokes, we ate a lot, we swam in the river. We threshed the wheat, we grinded it in a water-mill, and then we made the bread, using this flour that they procuced from the very first step of sowing the seed. We had many dinners with their amazing friends, and I really enjoyed the sense of community they all share in those hills. That's really something you don't realize you are missing living in a city, where you are always surrounded by other people but it's just an illusion to feel part of a community. We did so much stuff I can not even keep them all in my head, but at the same tine I know that I will never forget any of those moments. Moreover, both Francesco and Elisabetta are not just great workers, but easygoing people that made me feel part of their family since the first day. I genuinely admire their world vision and their attitude to life has been inspiring for me. So really thank you Francesco and thank you Elisabetta for tought me to see further. And thank you also to the sweet Haru, who was always supporting us when we were working in the fields, with her adorable clock-handed ears :)

Lucia stayed with us for a month, and thanks to her planned and organized way of working, we managed to finish most of our tasks even before winter arrived. She is responsible and always completes what she starts in the best way possible. During our free time, we also spent very enjoyable moments together and she truly felt like part of our family. You can trust Lucia with your home without hesitation. We did exactly that and had the chance to visit our family for a week while leaving our house and dogs in her care. Thank you for all your support and friendship Lucia, we are sure we will meet again ;)

Saroj’s farm is a peaceful, beautiful home just outside the ringroad of Kathmandu. Very close to the monkey temple and there are so many other hidden beautiful temples nearby which you can hike to outside of work hours. Work consisted mostly of looking after the goats in the field right opposite the farm. We also cleaned the barn and also helped planting garlic in the back garden. The work hours are quite relaxed (about 2-3 hours a day). They feed you 3 meals a day which are all delicious and cooked by Saroj’s mum 💙 We had a really lovely time with Saroj and his family and also met a lot of like-minded amazing workawayers at the farm. If you are looking for a peaceful and lovely place in or around Kathmandu, this is a perfect place to be. Thank you Saroj and your lovely family 🙏

We spent an incredible month at Catherine's house, where we were made to feel at home. Catherine is a very kind, welcoming, laid-back and fun host, whose company we already miss greatly. The house is beautiful, and always full of life with the dogs, and Catherine's lovely family and friends visiting. Staying at Catherine's house, we felt like we were visiting friends rather than on a Workaway; we were so welcomed and included in the day to day of the house, with croquet, board games, delicious long lunches and glasses of wine and chatting by the fire. We built internal shutters for the windows upstairs which was a great project and other tasks were more like helping around the house - walking the dogs, cleaning, cooking and picking walnuts. We also had lots of fun helping with Catherine's birthday party. Catherine is a great teacher, and thanks to her patience with us we made great progress in our spoken French. The region itself is striking in both nature and history. In our free time we loved our visits to Mont St Michel, Saint Malo, Fort de la Latte, enjoying oysters at Cancale and beach walks at Sable d'Or. Our room was upstairs, very comfortable and with a gorgeous view of the yard and autumn trees from the window. We loved the calm and natural beauty of the area. We can't believe how quickly time passed, and are so grateful to Catherine, to her friends and family for making the month we spent in Brittany so special and unforgettable.

Gray was an absolute pleasure to have and land here. He was so helpful and supportive. He was a self-starter, proactive, and being able to work on great projects with skills he had as well as skills he was able to build on the farm, as well as building and welding an amazing goat shed from scratch and building a number of animal feeders as well as providing a number of supportive pieces of animal care, growing food, and a number of other maintenance and supportive tasks a lot around the farm. He was so aligned with the people that were staying here and was able to provide community support as well as just positive energy on the land. I would welcome him back any time. He's become part of the family and so grateful to have such an amazing human support the land and the vision here.

Thanks to Kim and Syd, I had one of the best quality time in my life. It's amazing that all the meat, eggs, honey and goat milk we eat are self-sufficient. Usually, I get diarrhea when I eat a lot of animal foods, but I was surprised that the digestive system worked perfectly for the animal foods here. They changed my view of food dramatically and now I am aware of the difference in food quality. Also they taught me the joy of planting trees. Syd and I planted more than 150 trees  and I know that they will be very useful as food for goats, bees nectar sources, and as shades of animals in the near future because I can see the results of planting trees by Syd and Kim a few years ago. It is beautiful that everything is related and circulating here. In addition, I have had valuable experiences such as slaughtering sheep, making compost, eating camembert cheese and riding a horse⋯even more and more. Without their passion and love for the land, trees and animals, I  couldn’t experience any of these. I am very honored and happy to meet Kim and Syd. Thank you for everything.

I spent three wonderful weeks with Jérome, Manon, Justin, and Sajan, and from the very first moment they made me feel like the fifth member of the family. We shared so much quality time together — family meals, workouts, hikes, day trips, and cozy movie nights. I had my own room with a beautiful view and the freedom to use the whole house. I even got to enjoy the jacuzzi — watching the sunset over the mountains from there was truly unforgettable. My tasks were divided into two parts: tutoring Sajan and helping with various jobs in and around the house. Communication was always easy, clear, and relaxed. I am endlessly grateful for the time we shared and the wonderful experiences I was able to have with this family. If you’re looking for a harmonious family atmosphere, an inspiring environment, and breathtaking nature, this is absolutely the right place!

I had a great week at Ozzie's beautiful place in Datça. In the mornings, we worked in the garden, planting trees, harvesting fruit, chopping wood, and doing small DIY projects. In the afternoons, we took trips to the city center or the beach. Ozzie is a very welcoming and helpful host who gladly showed me Datça and its surroundings, as well as the delicious Turkish culinary food and culture. I also had the pleasure of meeting his very friendly neighbors during a shared raki evening. All I can say is: thank you so much for this wonderful time, and I hope to see you again very soon in Datça or Berlin. 5/5 stars 🌟

Marleen stayed with us for six weeks. Her main tasks were caring for the animals and working intensively with a fearful pony. She exceeded all our expectations! Her intuition with horses, her empathy, and her knowledge about these animals are truly remarkable. We would be delighted to welcome Marleen back anytime!

Rodrigo and Thomas were excellent workawayers. They were very good workers, loving with the doggies and caring of henny the hen! We enjoyed many hours of great conversation, shared meals, board and card games as well as a shared day out to the Caminito del Rey. Rodrigo shared the driving for shopping and trips out and was excellent. They were very respectful with the house and surrroundings keeping everywhere very clean and efficiently cared for. In addition all the olives were picked, gardens weeded and the daily round of sweeping and mopping completed! I have no hesitation in recommending them to future hosts.

Volunteering here was such a formative and wonderful experience for me. The people involved in the project are so loving and respectful and I wish them all the best in their future efforts. I always felt listened to and welcomed and I learned a lot about French countryside culture and life :) Bisous à tous•tes!
