Our 3 week stay in school in Kidatu was very enriching and valued experience for our family. The host Jema is reliable, communicative, honest and always going above and beyond to help and make everyone happy. I was teaching the older kids in the school, and they were an absolute treasure: smart, polite, with open hearts. As a family, we really enjoyed creating the vegetable garden together with the staff and pupils. The only disadvantage were the rough living conditions in the dormitory, where we stayed. Also, because we shared the building with 30 children, sometimes the noise level and the lack of privacy were a little bit tiring and overwhelming. But at the same time our children made a lot of friends there and all kids at the dormitory were sweet and helpful. We had a lot of fun and heartwarming moments together. We can honestly say it was a very welcoming place and a great workaway experience; the living conditions can be improved fairly easily, especially now, when the running water is connected to the school grounds. We feel very grateful that we could be a part of this amazing community. It was our first trip to Africa and the school will always stay in our hearts. We wish you all the best!

It’s hard to decide where to start this review - there is so much we want to say. Graham and Saranne are absolutely fantastic people. Insanely kind and wildly generous, the whole family made us feel comfortable the minute we stepped through their door and made sure it stayed that way until the very last moment when we were send off with full bellies. A major part of our role included house and dog sitting. While the rockstar family was on tour, they made sure that we had enough (fresh and good) food to eat and wood to make a fire. Next on the list of why you should absolutely stay with Graham and Saranne, is: Ziggy. An absolute blessing of a dog. Weirdly human, playful and sweet dog who loves cuddles. We connected with him very quickly and we miss him already. Once they came back, we helped Graham with the wine bottling process and prepared the farm for winter, which included tasks like: clearing the property, pruning overgrown olive trees, fertilising young apple trees and cutting wood. Graham has an enchanting personality and made us laugh a lot, creating a relaxed and comfortable working environment. He is knowledgeable, experienced and more than happy to explain anything you ask him. He also always has a saying up his sleeve, some of which we now proudly adopted. In between, we would often got lost in conversations with Saranne about everything and nothing. She’s a great listener with a witty personality, which made it very easy to talk to her, often leading us to lose track of time (and work haha sorry Graham). You quickly realize that they have lived more than just one life. This not only armed them with infinite stories to tell but also made us bombard them with a million questions, which they answered with seemingly endless patience. We admire them and their mix of humor, experience and curiosity a lot and thank them for these amazing 3 weeks in which they made us feel part of their family.

Overall it was a great experience! Suleman is a great guy. I volunteered with him for about a week, and then I ended up going to volunteer for a cousin of his, as I wanted to stay more time in the desert. There are not a lot of tourists right now, so what I did was a mixture of helping with household chores and such, and also updating/building some aspects of his business. He also made some time for touring around and seeing the desert, which was really very generous of him. This a really cool place to visit, and a cool cultural experience for those who haven't been to this part of the world or interacted with the bedouin culture. Some of the details of the advertisement were a bit out of date, but I helped him update them, so it should be accurate for those reading now. Overall it was a great experience, and I definitely recommend staying with Suleman, and checking out Wadi Rum in general!

My time with Sophie was amazing! We connected perfectly and had a great time. Also, the work was nice, I had many different tasks to do and in the end there was a great result. I had so much fun and enjoyed the time absolutely. And the landscape is wonderful. So: For me it was the perfect workaway experience!

I had a great experience with the dogs and cats. You get an immersive experience staying there, which is different and unique compared with other shelters. It's also what makes bonding with the dogs so special. The dogs are so amazing, I miss them so much. There's also about a dozen cats to look after, and they're adorable. The work involves a few hours in the morning, either cleaning the dogs, or cleaning and feeding the cats, and maybe some other tasks. In the morning everyone goes on a walk together, which is a great way to feel part of a team all looking after the dogs. In the evening the work is a couple of hours, going on another walk and then feeding the dogs before they go to bed. Once everything is done and the dogs have gone to bed, it's a great satisfying feeling to end the day.

We had a wonderful time with Annie. She's so kind and her cooking is amazing. We helped out with what would be her new home on the ground floor of the house. We painted, sanded walls, and helped with the cooking. Annie is a fantastic cook, but she also likes to experiment with other foods. We cooked arepas, vegetarian lasagna, and one day we had a pizza night where we made all the pizzas ourselves. She was very grateful. The town is peaceful and has beautiful views. It was truly a wonderful experience, and we'd love to come back again. Thank you, Annie, for being such a good person. xx Juan & Gaston 🤗

Wonderful guest. Thoughtful, strong and capable. Lives her intentions and puts them to work. Give her the right tools and she will do well with them. She keeps her blade sharp. We would look forward to her return.

I spent the most amazing month with Laura, Paolo, Diana, and Perla who took me in with welcoming arms making me feel like apart of the family. I miss them all dearly and am so thankful for their kindness and the incredible memories I made and will cherish forever! Both Perla and Diana were in school during my stay so I helped with Penny (their sweet dog) throughout the day and hung out with Perla and Diana after school. Both girls ended up feeling like my honorary little sisters; Diana- goofy, caring, and creative, and Perla- independent, generous, energetic. I had a blast being around both Perla and Diana and there was never a dull moment with these two! From card games to painting nails, learning dances to hide and seek, they will keep you busy and entertained! Laura was also an incredible host and I am so beyond grateful to be welcomed into their home with such love and openness. Laura went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and cared for and had everything I needed. She was extremely easy to communicate with and everything felt very straightforward. If you're lucky enough you'll also be able to experience Laura's amazing cooking which I indulged in every single night (I already miss it so much!). I hope everyone has the chance to be around this family, I miss them so much and hope to one day be back! Thank you so much to the entire family for having me and showing me love and kindness miss you all <3

It has been a while since Bilal was here. He came to join our short-video project and in the meantime he was also doing his own university project. Bilal has a lot of happy energy, could tell us a lot about his homecountry Kurdistan, liked to capture the moment for his vlogs and I remember I played pingpong with him and he is a master!! If you like to have a social guy around who is willing to help, hire Bilal :)

Marlus stayed with us for three weeks, bringing a sincere wish to share. One of her most meaningful contributions was her ongoing photography project. She documented daily life, family moments, community gatherings, and playful interactions, capturing the real feeling of this space. Her photos have a quiet honesty. They hold a moment, and you can feel it. She also used her drone to create some beautiful aerial shots, adding a special layer to our shared memories. Each morning she prepared breakfast for everyone: a simple but meaningful gesture that helped bring the group together at the start of the day. She cooked delicious cakes and chestnut cream, painted garden signs, helped create a cozy corner in the garden with Felicity, and was always ready to give someone a lift when needed. Marlus is someone who feels deeply, and who gives best when there is connection. When she feels that sense of belonging, her light shines. We’re grateful for the time spent together and for all the visible and invisible traces she left behind.

If you have a chance to host Ian, DO IT! He’s one of the most detail conscious helpers we’ve ever had. He works on the task, very independently, until it’s complete. And he’s a joy to be around. 🤩

Volunteering for a month here was an amazing experience. From renovating to hospitality work, it was a great place to learn new skills. If you like surfing or chilling on the beach, Punta Hermosa is a really nice place to spend your free time. Patrice (the owner) always takes time to hang out with the volunteers beach activities, cooking classes, jamming sessions around a nice fire… I can definitely recommend this place.

Dominique and Wim are attentive hosts. They give you a warm welcome and everything in their home makes you feel at ease from day one. I had a great time with the other Workawayers and the atmosphere really helped me improve my English while enjoying the experience. They took the time to show me around Alicante when I arrived and suggested several outings together, which was very thoughtful and much appreciated. Lobo and Lucky are adorable and made my stay even more enjoyable. ☀️

Robin looked after our farm for almost 5 months and took very loving and attentive care of 3 cats, 7 sheep, and lots of plants. Daily animal feeding, countless cuddles, pasture building and various gardening tasks—all superbly managed. When we returned, everything was as it had been before, as if we had never been away. Thank you Robin, and we would entrust our farm and animals to you again anytime!

Not really adopted, but almost! Maddox was such a help, even if he had to do most work alone. Seems he is really strong, when we realised what is all moved and done. He dug out the rest of a tree, which really clung to the ground. ;-) Wolf and Maddox made some music and sang together. Also he provided us Pancakes (miam) and we had many, many good talks. Not enough in the end, because again it was too early to let him go. But..... good luck, wherever you go and are and maybe we'll meet again?! You are very welcome!

It's time to reflect on my time at the farm! The things I liked: -A mix of foreigners and Vietnamese are working there which is really nice for getting to know Vietnamese culture. Everyone is very nice and feels very welcoming. - Variety of work. I mainly did work in the garden, some construction work and fertilizing. Hao has a lot of trust in his volunteers, which is nice to feel -Hao likes to teach and he is good at that. The small workshops he gave were always super interesting! -Start the day with nice coffee - Nice Vietnamese food being made by a cook for lunch. Its just really nice to work hard and then have food ready for you. Some other comments, and the reason why I gave a 4 star rating and its something I didn't see on earlier reviews so I thought it would be good to shine some light on this too. -The dorms are pretty basic and because of lack of pictures on the workaway profile it was a bit of a shock in the beginning for me. I got used to it eventually and had great sleep there. I dont think it's for everyone though. You definitely need to be okay with some insects, dust, mud and a hard mattress. - I was there during coffee harvest season and it was a pretty busy time because of that. Since the farm is a startup and also a small business, this led to some extra work and overtime for some volunteers especially the ones working on the coffee processing machines. I think everyone loved the work and was okay with this, but it's something to be aware of. I think the motto: work hard and play hard is definitely applicable! What I didn't like about it that not everyone was finished with work at the same time. To conclude; I'm really grateful for my time here and shared some good laughs with the other volunteers and got to meet really special people in a part of Vietnam where not many tourists go. Thankyou and I'm looking forward to a reunion in Europe!

We were blessed to have her kind soul and helpful hands with is during the summer. Great with our oldest, who she spend countless hours with in the garden. Anyone should count themselves blessed to have her gentle spirit visit.
