I had a lovely time staying with the family in Huarmey! I got to practice my Spanish, and teach a bit of English. It was lovely to see such an authentic small town in Peru and experience local life

I satyed two weeks with Yvonne, Peter and Yuri and it was amazing. They are a really warm and welcoming family. I worked in the garden and cooked for them sometimes and i had a lot of time off to explore the beautifull region. They made me feel part of the family and taught me a lot about themselves about the culture and a bout gardening. They took me in their daily life and made sure i was super confortable ! I had the biggest meels, very good conversations, time by fire place, barbecues at the river, i took part of their singing group and so much more !! Thank you again for everything, i keep such good memories of those two weeks !

I'll put it simply: a little piece of heaven on earth! I've been to the sanctuary twice, and being able to disconnect from everything that's meaningless is a gift. You feed the animals, help out around the place, enjoy the peace and quiet, and learn everything animals have to teach! I'm deeply grateful to Zeljka, a friend for life.

heyheyy!:) I spend 3 months in this project and I had a really beautiful and colourful experience there. First of all: The time at school was amazing. It was a biiig gift of life to be with the kids. They are alive and pure joy. I also want to appreciate the amount of work Masika is doing always for the well-being of the kids. She is putting her wholeheart in the foundation! During the time at home I also faced some difficulties, missunderstandings as i understood the big impact of different culturial behaviours. Because of that I felt sometimes frustration in small daily things (household, foodsituation, structure of the foundation, improving new ideas). Ugandan culture has focus on the community well-being, so as a western individual person it was not easy to be always dependant from others (organisation, communication.) The house we were living in is more a villa than a African simple hut. In the beginning i didn't liked it, but now I am grateful for the hygiene and safety in there. For future volunteers: In this project/ school you are pretty flexible in the tasks, so make sure you bring enough self initiative and flexibility when things are not happening the way you want. Masika is a great woman. Make sure you communicate with her your planned school activities and ask as soon you have questions or confusion. Be transparent and not shy! If you like punctuality, Africa will show you the opposite;) As a white person you gonna be 24,7 in the spotlight when you leave the house. When you are low budget, I wouldn't recommend to come here. I was surprised how much after three months I spend. Everyone is asking you for money and you need to pay always more as a white. Being back home I am just happy to have this enrichment experience for life! I already miss the kids a lot! From my wholeheart I wish them and the organisation and Masika all the best:)

🇬🇧 We've been hosted by Alexandra & Scott in their stone house in Montenegro last year and we had an amazing time together. They have been excellent hosts from day 1. If you plan to help them either in one of their projects in Drusici - Montenegro or in Dorogne - France, you will find two hard-working human beings that like to co-create, share insights, music and knowledge and will make sure you are comfortable. The schedule is exactly as written in their profile and they will definitely make sure you have plenty of time for yourself to either just chill or visit the surroundings, they've been hosting guests/ tourists in Montenegro and they are really good at it. We hope to be able to join their project in France and be part of the amazing transformation that I am sure will be so rewarding. Alex and Scott are super talented and have lots of knowledge to share and they will be super happy to share it. 🎵☀️🥕

Chris owns a beautiful home in the northern part of Portugal. It has been half a day ride from Lisbon to Fundaō with the rede expressos bus. The ride was convenient and when I arrived a the bus, chris' friends happily picked me up at the station. I stayed for two weeks at the place and had a lot of great cultural exchange experiences. Chris' friend took me to different places and people around Saō Martinō. There were beautiful spots at the river, mountains and in the small towns. I received free breakfast and it was pretty fun and motivating to work for Chris. We had a daily call where we talked about the projects and had fun. During the two weeks I became part of the family. If you are looking for a remote and scenic spot in the mountains and want to meet kind people I recommend a visit

Henry was great to host, he adapted to the life here quickly and communicated very well. Plus he is a wonderful musician and I enjoyed playing music with him a lot. He was also very cute with Yuni though she might have been tiring for him a lot 😅

Nick and Bella did an amazing job during their six days with us in spite of pretty nasty cold wet weather which made the job of picking up the tonnes of Autumn leaves very challenging but they did it. They also brought in logs, piled the wood pile, cleared the rest of the vegetable patch for winter, sorted out a massively entwined Kiwi tree, unblocked sinks, put up light bulbs, decluttered three huge cupboards, and in general were a huge pleasure to have stay with us. We had lively conversations round the dinner table, mainly about our shared love of food! They are a great couple, easy-going, interesting and with a great sense of humour. We loved having them, and any host who can grab them, shouldn’t hesitate. Massively grateful to them both.

I really enjoyed staying with Rafael, his daughter and dogs! He lives in a very nice neighbourhood, close to the "Parque Rivera" and only a short walk away from the beach. Rafael is a very friendly and respectful person, that always made sure that I had everything that I needed, and that I was doing well! Thank you again for everything, and I wish you the best!

Jēkabs stayed with us for 10 days and we are very grateful for all his help. He supported us a lot with gardening, taking care of the dogs, and with great humor, he even became an expert at cleaning cow and sheep poop! 😄 He was always polite, showed a positive attitude, and stayed attentive to the needs of the house. His help made a big difference during his stay. We wish him the very best in all the adventures ahead. Thank you for your time, your work, and for sharing these days with us, Jēkabs. You will always have a place to come back to here! 🌱🐶✨

Hannah has been a fantastic person to host - she is incredibly enthusiastic and hard working. She has got stuck into each and every task we've needed help with and has always been there to lend a hand wherever it was needed. Hannah has really engaged with our charity's mission and has asked great questions to learn more and has been very empathetic towards the rescued monkeys in our care. Hannah has been a fantastic house guest and great at welcoming and supporting other volunteers. Thank you so much, Hannah!

Agos and Maxi were the best Workawayers we could have! They spent around 3 months in our village and helped us really improve our Airbnb comments. They worked on maintaining our apartments, but besides that, they would organize activities for our guests on their own. For example, they organized wine tastings that we had never had before, and they would sing and play music for the guests. We could trust them with any task, as they are independent and willing to work. They are very optimistic and pleasant people, and they were truly a light in our village. I wish I could have spent more time with them in Montenegro! Thank you guys for staying with us, we wish you all the best. I can’t wait to go home and try out the gift you left me. ❤️

Seb was a great person to have helping us at the sanctuary. He was hardworking and completed all the tasks we needed help with to a high standard. He was able to work well as a member of a team but also use his common sense to work independently. Seb took an interest in our charity's work and was very empathetic to the rescued monkeys in our care. Seb was a great person to have around - very friendly, positive and easy to chat to. Thank you, Seb!

We were staying with Stefano and Francesca from mid-October to mid-November. These four weeks were our first Workaway experience. To be honest, in the beginning our plans looked a bit different. But since our original host cancelled on us last minute, we were so lucky that Stefano offered us a place to stay. The farm is quite large and home to a variety of animals: three pigs, one horse, two very cuddly cats, five rabbits, six dogs, and nearly 50 goats. Most of the time, we took care of the animals in the mornings and evenings together with the other Workawayers. It was especially funny making sure that every single goat returned to the stable and no one escaped. In between we had a variety of different tasks, some examples are: weeding, cleaning and sorting out some spaces, maintenance work, planting seeds, harvesting olives, watering and untangling A LOT of wire from which we made a fence for the goats. The work was enjoyable and changed according to the weather. Most of the time we were three or four Workawayers and Stefano always found something appropriate and meaningful for us to do. Regarding working hours we had a lot of freedom, as we were able to decide when to work by ourselves (except for the time range when feeding the animals). So it was possible to go for a walk after lunch and continue with work in the afternoon. Monday to Friday we worked five hours each day. We enjoyed our time here a lot and are very glad to have made these beautiful memories. Some days of the week we were invited for a delicious dinner cooked by Francesca at their house, these evenings always were a lot of fun. Bjorn was always up to something, Loe (their dog) trying to hypnotise us into giving her some food and Leonardo was very energetic, a great entertainer even though we don’t even understand italien. One evening they even took us to watch Leo’s football match, which his team obviously won ;) and after some very good pizza, they showed us the beautiful city Arezzo. It was so nice staying with you and the time passed very fast, in the end it felt way too short. We are glad for all the things we learned and thankful that you took us into your home. We wish you all the best for your future ❤️

Anastasia is great. She is adult, responsible and hard working person. We felt very comfortable to live her alone with a tasks. As we were sure that she will do it. And we don't need to check on her. She painted the walls, sieved compost, pulled the weeds in the garden, took great care about the cats, made some decorations, glued together our broken China and flower pots, she cleaned both of her bungalow very clean 😅. She treated our place with love and respect. Anastasia made a good team with other volonteers. She is easy to be around and also good by her own. She really loved out cats, and we feel they missing her a lot. As we are😅. Hope to see her again. If she applies to you. Don't hesitate to take her.
