We spent three months and overall it was a rich and memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, Eric and Joelle welcomed us with genuine warmth. Their land carries a calm, grounded atmosphere, and being surrounded by mountains, clean air, and quiet made our stay feel very special. The work was varied and hands-on, which kept the days interesting. We helped with harvesting, watering garden sections, processing fruit, preparing spaces for a yoga retreat, cooking for participants, gardening, caring for the animals, and house-sitting tasks. We also experienced olive harvesting, which was a highlight. Joelle’s knowledge of permaculture and food processing is extensive, and we learned a lot from her. Eric also offered practical experience and thoughtful advice, which we appreciated. Our accommodation was fantastic a comfortable community house with our own private room, bathroom, and a fully equipped kitchen. It was a cozy and peaceful space, especially with the fireplace during colder days. The land is remote and surrounded by nature, making it ideal for someone who enjoys quiet environments and simple living. A big part of everyday life is Heira, the resident cat. He quickly became one of the highlights of our stay. He’s affectionate, always around, and you’ll need to feed him and give him the attention he confidently demands. One practical note for future volunteers: the working rhythm is flexible and not always clearly structured. For some, this may feel natural; for others, it may require a bit of communication to find balance. Understanding this ahead of time helps set the right expectations. This Workaway is ideal for anyone who enjoys being close to nature, wants to learn about permaculture, appreciates remote living, enjoys gardening and hands-on tasks and understands the importance of sustainable practices. We left feeling inspired, grateful, and full of new knowledge and meaningful experiences.

Katie and Earl are the kindest people. I stayed with them for almost 3 months and felt very comfortable from the first day. They were very welcoming and always appreciated the time I spend with the kids and made sure that I was feeling well. The workload was more than fine, as I had a lot of free time to go to the city or explore some towns nearby, like Bath or Bristol. Frome is a beautiful city as well, with nice coffee spots and cute little shops. It was also possible to get a few days off to travel a bit further or for friends and family to come for a visit. The kids were so sweet and I really enjoyed playing on the trampoline, with Lego or on the swing and going for walks to the sandpit. At the beginning you might think that four kids are a lot, but Katie and Earl always made sure that I never felt overwhelmed by having to watch all of them at once. So if you like spending time with children, I can really recommend staying with them, as I enjoyed it very much!🌟

Fatima was kind heart girl. She helps in our class... She played with our children... She helps in our friend's school... We really appreciate everything she did. She is beautiful, polite, active, and friendly. I recommend her to join in your project or community.

We hosted Nour for 5 weeks. Although it was his first workaway experience you couldn't tell. Adopted within days into our rhythm, performed well in the tasks given, rain or shine. He likes to talk and socialize but has no problem with his own company either. Nour, thank you for your stay, you're always welcome here. For future hosts: don't hesitate, we highly recommend Nour.

I had a wonderful Workaway experience ! The family was welcome from the first day, I immediately felt at home. Oak and Beatrix are two amazing kids, full of joyful energy and very kind. It was a real pleasure spending time with them. They live in a land of peace. This was one of my best workaway experiences, I am grateful for everything. I will be more than happy to return one day. Highly recommended !!!✨️

Sofie was our first work away at our home in Spain and what a pleasure it has been! From day one we have had a great time with her. She’s a very friendly, kind and helpful person and a joy to be around! She helped us a lot with chores and was very gentle and kind with our beloved pets, she took great care of our horses while one of us were away which was a big help! Sofie enjoys the outdoors and gardening and she was fantastic helping us with weeding and planting some veg, I learnt some new skills alongside her which was really fun. She was also very understanding as our annex was quite cold - we weren’t prepared for how cold it was going to be! Sofie also helped with some cooking and was always helping to wash up and keep things nice and tidy. We were sad to see her leave and hope she will return for another visit soon! What a lovely person to be around, any host would be lucky to have Sofie stay 😀

First off I would like to say that I appreciate Janette very much. She looked after my rancho for 5 weeks while I was gone. I know it wasn’t always easy but she stayed on it. Janette is honest, trustworthy and organized and I would definitely recommend her.

It was great to host Kyle for two weeks. From the moment he arrived, he was a kind, well-mannered, and helpful person. Kyle helped me with simple tasks in the garden, cleaning the house, and decluttering my garage. It was also a mutual cultural and language exchange.

Andreas was a great help to us during his stay. Happy to join in with others and also to work independently. He might not have the best skill level but with lots of enthusiasm and a great sense of humour, he's a pleasure to have on the team. Hola querida Chi! I’m sorry it took me some time to reply, Xi. I’ve been in Norway for a while, but being back home reminded me how much we miss you here. You truly brought something special to our team. Your positive energy, your smile, your kindness, and your willingness to help made every day better. We learned so much from you and your culture, and travel experience, and the way you connected with the students. Even though English isn’t your first language, you shared your knowledge with so much clarity and confidence. We were very lucky to have you with us. Thank you for your honest feedback as well. Living in a small rural area means that some days we have to choose between picking up leaves or dealing with maintenance issues caused by the humidity — but we are improving all the time. Now that I’m back, we’re fumigating regularly, and I already feel the rooms for volunteers are much better cared for. I truly hope we can welcome you back one day so you can see the changes for yourself. And to anyone reading this: we highly recommend this wonderful human. If you have the chance to host her as a volunteer, consider yourself very lucky.

There are not enough superlatives to describe my experience with Kat! Motivated, hardworking, always willing to go the extra mile and provide suggestions. We completed sheep fencing, repaired gate and fencing,tended the animals together, and Kat helped get the lawns undercontrol. Kat, an absolute pleasure to have you stay with me! We went on some mini adventures, and Kat's visit was over to soon. And on the last day when I was working at the community shop, Kat cleaned my house and yard from top to bottom. A departure gift was also very much appreciated. So thank you Kat, from the bottom of my heart. I hope you get to go on your next adventure very soon!

Joshua, what a great guy you are. Humble and hardworking. I really enjoyed both your company and your stories of life's experiences. Antonia ,we couldnt imagine that you are only 19 years ,and you were so ready to live this experience!!!!! She is so good person,indipendent and so hard worker person!!!never she feared to learn new things and worked always with pleasure,because for her is like new experience.Very gentle,and deeply respect us !!!! I loved my time staying with Violeta and her family on their beautiful farm. The work was really fun and varied, I especially liked the olive harvesting. The family are very warm and welcoming and helpful to me when trying to learn new language. The pets are also adorable! I would highly recommend and I can’t wait to go back ☺️

Francesco was an excellent volunteer. He is a curious, respectful person, always ready to learn and happy to share his knowledge. We had the pleasure of hosting him for two weeks, and his presence was truly a joy. He helped with the final steps of building our refuge and never hesitated to roll up his sleeves. He is also a very good cook! We highly recommend Francesco to any host. His enthusiasm, reliability, and positive energy will be helpfull to any project. Thank you Mikky and Hermis for staying with us in Montenegro last spring (and apologies for the late feedback!). It was a true pleasure having you both in our little farm, you guys are much fun! Thanks for all the little projects you did around the farm (painting, gardening, etc), you guys are always happy to do anything that needs to be done, and you do it well and with a smile! And on top of that we had wonderful time having interesting conversations and playing music and singing together, which was a bonus! I would really recommend those guys, they are very trustworthy and we enjoyed a lot their company. We hope to host them again in our next place in France! Alexandra

I spent two weeks here and really enjoyed the work and the tranquillity. The cats and dogs there are all super sweet - I would love to come back and adopt one! I spent my time outside of the morning shift (approx. 2hr but could be longer if plants needed watering) and evening shift (approx.1.5hr) chilling with some of the dogs and reading my book. If you have a car then it is easy to drive to lots of lovely beaches and waterfalls. If you don't have a car then Iris and Chris will help you figure out the buses. We also went to the local market with them a couple of times and went for a short hike to a waterfall as well. They provided food staples as well as fruit and veggies for us to cook/eat as we wanted.

We really enjoyed the two weeks that we stayed with Hedwige and Maurizio and we felt welcomed into their home from the day that we arrived. Our tasks mainly invovled helping out around the house, gardening and completing maintenance work, with Hedwige always explaining clearly to us what we had to do. We loved every meal that we shared with them- the food was delicious and was often made with fruit and vegetables they had grown themselves. We also enjoyed the interesting conversations we had and the opportunity they gave us to learn about Italian/French culture. Hedwige and Maurizio were both very kind and generous and we are grateful to have had such a wonderful Workaway experience.

Ali volunteered with us at the school as a teacher’s assistant, and we are very happy to recommend him! He brought a positive attitude, reliability, and genuine interest in language learning and teaching, which made him a great addition to our team. He supported our language classes by helping students feel more confident during activities and participated actively in classroom interactions, especially in our beginner and conversation groups. Ali was respectful, open-minded, and eager to learn about Polish culture while also sharing his own background in a way that enriched the learning environment for everyone. I was fortunate enough to experience 23 days of volunteering in Iceland, which far exceeded my expectations. I was welcomed by an extraordinary family: Mom Gígja and Dad Ásgeir are wonderful, warm, and attentive people, who made me feel at home from day one. The presence of their four dogs and two cats made everything even more special. The daily work was enjoyable and well-organized, always carried out in an atmosphere of mutual respect and collaboration. Gígja and Ásgeir were extremely available to teach me new things, share their culture with me, and make every moment meaningful. We also did several activities together that I will remember fondly: we swam in a pool with relaxing saunas and went on a crazy ATV ride, experiences that made everything even more fantastic and fun. Even though my English wasn't perfect, our connection was natural, spontaneous, and beautiful, like that of the best families. During these 23 days, I felt like a son, welcomed with sincere and selfless affection. Over time, a wonderful friendship was born, deep and authentic, which I will always cherish. I recommend this volunteering experience to anyone who desires something authentic, human, and enriching. I will forever cherish the memory of Gígja, Ásgeir, and their wonderful family. And, of course, I look forward to welcoming them back to my home, hoping to be able to reciprocate at least in part all the kindness and affection they have given me. A simply unforgettable experience!
