    Description

I am a single Mom living in Dingle, Co. Kerry, Ireland originally from Louisiana, USA. My daughter is now at college in Cork. We have a lovely sheep dog Rosie who is now 11 years old. I live on a hill near the town, overlooking Dingle Harbour and the Conor Pass. I

This area is very rich in Irish culture, heritage and language as it is part of the Irish speaking Gaeltacht. There are numerous walks and beaches within walking distance of my house.. The town is small and friendly enough that you could know many locals fairly easily. I come from a musical family in Louisiana and play and sing mostly American music should you be interested in that. This truly is a magical area.. the farthest westerly town in Europe.

I have to travel often, so could really use help with minding my dog Rosie. I have plant beds to be cared for as well.

I am always interested in learning as much in language as I can. I grew up speaking some French in Louisiana as I come from the Cajun area. I studied Russian and French at University of Alaska Fairbanks.

    Accommodation

I have a spare room in my 3 bedroom house. It is situated on a hill overlooking Dingle and Dingle harbour. The rear view is of fields with sheep and cows, the Conor Pass, and surrounding hills. So although in an estate, it has a wild and peaceful feeling up here.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Dingle, An Daingean Ui Chuis (in Irish), is on the Wild Atlantic Way. It is known for its fun musical pubs and lively atmosphere as well as festivals including Feile na Bealtaine art fest coming up in May. Within the surrounding peninsula and islands you can find endless beauty, ancient archaeological sites, megalithic ruins, and too many spectacular beaches to count. This area is known for its friendliness, and as a home to many musicians and artists, both Irish and foreign. There are a number of buses that go around the peninsula daily and are very cheap.

My house has decent internet service. But we are remote on this peninsula so I can't say it is perfect. It might blink off very occasionally in bad weather, but generally very good.

A smaller camper would be ok for the front garden.

I love animals so would welcome pets.. The only thing is they would have to get along with my dog, who is very agreeable to other dogs. Not as much with cats, but it can be done.
