Description
Stay in our Oamaru stone homestead surrounded by gardens and vineyard in the beautiful Waitaki Valley and UNESCO geopark. In exchange for native tree planting and gardening.
Locally we have the Alps 2 Ocean cycle trail and lakes. Close to oamaru where you can experience streampunk, the victorian quater and little blue penguins. The property is large enough to have your own space or join in with our family of 3 dogs and two cats.Types of help and learning opportunities

Learn about native flora and fauna, experience the unique Waitaki Valley and geopark. Learn about the local wines and what makes our little region special.
Join us in the local community, it's small town rural New Zealand with as little or as much to do as you like.
We also like to travel and hear about where you are from, where you've been so we can learn for our next trip.Help
Looking for help with the garden, vegetable garden and extending the area where we are clearing non native trees and replacing with native trees. Lawn mowing and other garden tasks.
There are local community/charity groups we support that need helping hands for projects such as native planting, weed control, help with community groups. Opportunities to support these may be available (depending on the time of year) which we would welcome help with. A great opportunity to be involved and experience our rural NZ community.
Any help around the household is welcomed. We love to learn about your favorite and traditional foods and share ours with you.Languages

I am trying to learn Spanish but love learning the basics in all languages to use when we travelAccommodation
Separate room in a separate building with its own bathroom and fridge, tea and coffee. Breakfast and lunch will be in the main house, help yourself when you are ready or shared brunches at weekends. Dinner in the main house, shared cooking and cleaning and we like to learn from you as well as share ours.
What else ...
Having a driver's license to use our vehicles or your own transport is ideal given the rural location (we can arrange pick up from Oamaru or Omarama). A love of dogs is needed.
There are bikes to use on the A2O or pedal to the local cafes. We also have kayaks for experienced paddles (or we can paddle with you), kayaking is on the lakes in sheltered spots.A little more information
