    Description

Hello, my name is Juliana (Brazilian, 37yo) and I live in our small farm with my husband Jacques (South African, 42yo). I work mostly online and Jacques manages the farm's animals and organic food production.

Our goal is to grow most of our food in our land as well as making a business from the pigs and charcutarie production, which we've started recently and in the future producing essential oils, jams and other products from the fruit production (which we are stating to plant now).

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Learn with us about food production in an organic system working with us in the land, learn how to care for the pigs and chickens and also some charcuterie techniques. Plus there's the general maintanance of a farm so there's plenty opportunity to learn about it. Everyday something new may come up for you to learn and also teach us! We will be together everyday, exchanging knowledge, life stories and meals.

  • Help

    Help

We are seeking assistance with various tasks:

    1. Planting and managing food garden
    2. Caring for animals, including chickens and pigs
    3. Cleaning and taking care of the volunteer house
    4. Carpentry and construction.

We prefer individuals with experience and enthusiasm in at least 1-2 of the tasks listed above.

It's important for us that volunteers are comfortable speaking English because, who runs most of the farm work is still learning Portuguese but it's fluent in English and we had some experiences with non-English spearlers where the language barrier made life more difficult.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Workawayers will have their own independent room in a recently renovated 2 bedroom + 1 bathroom house, with a nice view. They will have access to a fully equipped kitchen and all amenities for comfortable living.

The food provided comes directly from our organic gardens (depending on what's growing at the moment) and from grocery staples provided by us, such as dry goods, spices, etc. If you require anything else, we can provide offer rides to the market.

It's expected that you keep the house clean and take good care of it, this means your room but also kitchen, bathroom and lounge.

Jacques and I live in a separate house in the same land, so we are close to help with anything and to share meals and experiences.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There is a nice waterfall a 30-minute hike from the farm. We also have hammocks and bonfires at the house, and you can swim in the lake and use the barbecue.

On weekends, if you want to travel, there's a bus station in town.

We often visit the nearest market in town and also go to São Paulo quite often, and we can give you a ride.

We expect you to clean up after yourself and prepare your own meals.

The only food we provide is from the organic garden when available, and basic staples. If you need or want anything else, it is your responsibility.

Well-behaved pets are allowed. The volunteer house has a small fenced backyard for pets to be safe. But around the rest of the farm we ask people keep theis dogs on leashes for their own protection and of the farm animals.
