Born on the edge of the French Vexin Natural Park, a traveler myself, I created a small economic structure in 2010 to live in the French Alps, drawing on my university skills in alpine ecology, biodiversity, and evolution. I began hosting travelers at the same time, which amounts to about 100 different people hosted since the beginning. Our aim is to restore and improve the place where we live while doing our best to regenerate nature and humans. To achieve this goal, my solutions involve communication, active participation, questioning, experimentation, demonstration, and laughter...

Née en bordure du Parc Naturel du Vexin Francais, voyageuse moi-même, j'ai créé une petite structure économique en 2010 afin de vivre dans les Alpes françaises en m'appuyant sur mes compétences universitaires en écologie alpine, biodiversité et évolution.
J'ai commencé à accueillir des voyageurs en même temps, ce qui représente environ 100 personnes différentes accueillies depuis le début. Notre objectif est de restaurer et d'améliorer l'endroit où nous vivons tout en faisant de notre mieux pour régénérer la nature et les humains. Pour atteindre cet objectif, mes solutions impliquent la communication, une participation active, des questionnements, des essais, des démonstrations et du rire... Rien ne sort d'un cerveau prêt à brûler.

Your stay will involve a contribution of 5 hours per day, 5 days per week with room and board provided, on a 7-day basis. You'll be welcomed at home on Tuesdays, and your stay will be a minimum of one week, extendable based on our mutual availability and desires.
As your host, I'm committed to providing an environment where genuine interaction and mutual enrichment are valued. Our chalet is located just a half-hour drive from the majestic Mont Blanc or a day's walk along the ridges, offering privileged access to one of the most iconic natural wonders of the Alps.

Votre séjour comprendra une contribution de 5 heures par jour, 5 jours par semaine logé(e)-nourri(e), sur une base de 7 jours. Vous serez accueilli(e) à la maison le mardi et votre séjour sera d'une durée minimale d'une semaine, prolongeable selon nos disponibilités et envies respectives.
En tant qu'hôte, je m'engage à vous offrir un environnement où l'interaction authentique et l'enrichissement mutuel sont valorisés. Notre chalet est situé à seulement une demi-heure en voiture du majestueux Mont Blanc ou 1 journée de marche à pied par les crêtes, offrant ainsi un accès privilégié à l'une des merveilles naturelles les plus emblématiques des Alpes.

Welcome to our chalet , nestled in the stunning Val d'Arly, between the Beaufortain and the Aravis Range, at the northernmost reaches of the French Alps. If you're seeking an immersive experience bridging the two departments of Savoie, where responsibility, free will, and enriching exchange are paramount, then you've come to the right place!
We're in search of adult travelers passionate about discovering new cultures and willing to share their knowledge while learning from others. You'll take part in various activities, each offering a unique opportunity for learning and interaction:
- Constructing a geodesic dome using dry branches and lashings, a creative and practical experience to build a durable and harmonious shelter.
- Within our arboretum, you'll assist in reattaching labels to plant species while contributing to the creation of computerized ethnobotanical sheets. These sheets will accompany our visitors eager to plant these species, providing an enriching educational experience.
- Join in the forest survey by cataloging remarkable trees and learning about phytosociological inventories, a fascinating exploration of our natural environment.
- Utilize your handyman skills by sanding and varnishing woodwork in our chalet, preserving its rustic charm and authenticity.
- Harvest wildflowers and learn to dry them, a relaxing and artistic activity preserving the ephemeral beauty of nature.

Bienvenue au chalet , niché dans le magnifique Val d'Arly, entre le Beaufortain et la Chaine des Aravis, aux confins septentrionaux des Alpes françaises. Si vous recherchez une expérience immersive à cheval entre les 2 départements de Savoie, où responsabilité, libre arbitre et échange enrichissant sont au rendez-vous, alors vous êtes au bon endroit !
Nous sommes à la recherche de voyageurs adultes passionnés par la découverte de nouvelles cultures et prêts à partager leurs connaissances tout en apprenant des autres. Vous participerez à diverses activités, chacune offrant une opportunité unique d'apprentissage et d'interaction :
-Fabrication d'un dôme géodésique en branches sèches et brelages, une expérience créative et pratique pour construire un abri durable et harmonieux.
-Au sein de notre petit arboretum, vous aiderez à raccrocher les étiquettes des espèces végétales tout en contribuant à la création de fiches ethnobotaniques informatisées. Ces fiches accompagneront nos visiteurs désireux de planter ces espèces, offrant ainsi une expérience éducative enrichissante.
-Participez à l'état des lieux forestiers en recensant les arbres remarquables et en vous initiant aux inventaires phytosociologiques, une exploration fascinante de notre environnement naturel.
-Mettez vos talents de bricoleur à contribution en ponçant et lasurant des boiseries dans notre chalet, préservant ainsi son charme rustique et son authenticité.
-Récoltez des fleurs sauvages et apprenez à les faire sécher, une activité à la fois relaxante et artistique, permettant de préserver la beauté éphémère de la nature.

Accommodation
Shared rooms with separate exit. A bathroom reserved for guests. Regular toilets (Please do not put toilet paper in the toilets! The chalet is old, we must take this into account) and dry toilets.
Bed linen, pillows with or without feathers, and towels provided.
1 double bed, single beds 90cm. Shared kitchen for the entire chalet on the 1st floor. Possibility of an ephemer "cooking area" on the ground floor. Music instruments. Dishwasher and common washing machine.

Chambres partagées avec une sortie indépendante.. Une salle d'eau réservée aux voyageurs. Toilettes normales (Attention à ne pas mettre de papier dans les toilettes! Le chalet est ancien on doit en tenir compte) et toilettes sèches. Linge de lit, oreillers avec ou sans plumes et serviettes de toilette fournies.
1 lit 2 places, lits individuels 90cm. Cuisine partagée pour tout le chalet au 1er étage, Possibilité de "dinette" au Rez de Chaussée. Instruments de musique. Lave-vaisselle et Machine à laver commune.
What else ...
Free Time:
Caving, hiking, paragliding, and mountain sports.
Numerous bars or restaurants open in summer only, swimming lakes.
Rental of electric mountain bikes (expensive!).
Tourist activities and use of ski lifts on certain days of the week in July and August.
With a car, otherwise it's complicated:
Vineyards, castles, old towns Annecy, Geneva.
Botanical gardens, festivals, local events.
Transport:
Blablacar to Ugine or Albertville, then hitchhike with a sign "Notre Dame de Bellecombe works well".
Some workawayers are hikers arriving from the Tour du Pays du Mont-Blanc and the Beaufortain, from the GR de Compostelle and have stayed at the youth hostel in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc before or after their stay.
From Lyon or Geneva, trains bring you closer to Albertville or Sallanches.
Depending on the period, you then need to take a free bus "les lignes nature" from Albertville to Les Saisies or Crest Voland or line 83 from Sallanches or Le Fayet to Praz sur Arly then... me for the last 5-10 km!!!

Temps libre: spéléologie, randonnée, parapente et sports de montagne, nombreux bars, plans d'eau de baignade, location de VTT électriques (onéreux!), activités touristiques et utilisation des remontées mécaniques certains jours de la semaine en juillet aout.
Avec une voiture, sinon c'est compliqué: vignobles, châteaux, vieilles villes Annecy, Geneve, Jardins botaniques, festivals, fêtes locales...
Transports:
Blablacar jusqu'à Ugine ou Albertville puis le stop avec un panneau "Notre Dame de Bellecombe fonctionnent bien". Une partie des workawayers sont randonneurs qui arrivent du Tour du Pays du MontBlanc et du Beaufortain, des GR de Compostelle et ont séjourné à l'auberge de jeunesse de Chamonix -MontBlanc avant ou après leur séjour.
Depuis Lyon ou Geneve des trains vous rapprochent jusqu'à Albertville ou Sallanches.
Selon la période il faut ensuite prendre un bus gratuit "les lignes nature" depuis Albertville jusqu'à Les Saisies ou Crest Voland ou la ligne 83 depuis Sallanches ou Le Fayet jusqu'à Praz sur Arly puis...moi pour les 5-10 derniers km!!!

FRANCAIS Internet à la maison est une connexion partagée avec mon téléphone personnel. Pour une connexion Internet rapide avec la fibre, vous pouvez descendre 1 km jusqu'au village jusqu'à l'office de tourisme. ENGLISH Internet at home is a shared connection with my personal phone. For very fast fiber internet, you need to walk down 1 km to the village and use the tourism office facilities.
Space for parking camper vans
FRANCAIS La réglementation du village interdit les camping-cars en dehors des zones réservées à cet effet. Les workawayers qui restent sur mon terrain ne sont pas concernés puisqu'ils restent pour une courte durée. ENGLISH The village regulations prohibit motorhomes outside designated areas. However, workawayers staying on my property are not affected as they stay for a short duration.
