Description
We live in Nelson, close to the city on a quarter acre property. We have fruit trees, a veggie garden, chooks, and areas to sit in the garden to relax. We have a dog called Tui who loves people and her walks. We have adult children who live in Auckland and Christchurch, we enjoy hosting young travellers and are keen to help with any plans to see what this beautiful region has to offer. We are open to flexible working arrangements. Kyra is a primary school teacher, Pete is a retired engineer. We are originally from UK but have lived here since 2001.

We've lived in Nelson, the heart of the Top of the South, for over 20 years and know the area and what it has to offer really well. We've tramped/hiked through all the nearby national parks including Abel Tasman, Richmond Ranges and Marlborough Sounds - happy to share our experiences. We might be able to teach you a bit about bee keeping or gardening or you might be able to teach us!
Help
There's always plenty to do around this 1/4 acre urban property. e.g. gardening, weeding, lawn mowing etc. Some property maintenance too - we currently need help to rebuild a fence. Help in and around the house is always appreciated. Then there's our property at Puponga which we try and visit every couple of weeks. No particular skills or experience necessary.

They also helped in the garden and house, they worked well as a team or individually and were happy to be shown how to do something. We enjoyed having them to stay.
We felt very welcome and loved every meal!
I helped Pete start building a fence. It was a good opportunity to learn and lend a hand. The hours were totally reasonable and Pete was good company.
