Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Activities: Tourism of various cultural and environmental sights in the area: Guano, las Cholas, Balbanera - the first Church of Ecuador founded in 1534, the mountain Chimborazo, various national parks, thermal pools, cultural sites, bicycling down Chimborazo, etc. There are a lot of things to do here!! Getting to know the flora, fauna, historical sites and traditions, hiking, etc.
The volonteers will be able to live in a traditional community in the mountains above the city of Riobamba, Ecuador. The integrity and traditions of our community have been conserved throughout dozens of generations. We practice small-scale agriculture, live in harmony with the natural world, and practice our way of life in accordance with our traditional worldview. Our worldview is made up of our outlooks on spiritual practice, community life, and nourishing work with the animals, the environment, the family, and the community. We hope to introduce others to our way of life in order to offer them a connection to our environment and culture. We believe that an interchange with travelers between our traditional culture and that of different cultures can help us to both connect with and learn from each other. We hope to find individuals who are willing to teach the children in our community fundamentals of the English language. What we can offer in return is a glimpse into our way of life and the bonds we have in our community. We have a unique gastronomy and can offer cultural exchange, language development, and environmental stewardship and tourism. We hope that a true and open exchange of our cultures will benefit us both, as we can each learn from the other.

Help
Several positions are available:
1. An English teacher to support our young students at the Tunsalao school and/or during late afteroon classes in Calpiloma.
2. Somebody to help with animal care at the farm, including light agricultural tasks in our modest-sized fields.
3. Anybody having some construction skills? Be welcomed! As we are builing a small lodge right next to our house, solid arms could be of great help.
4. A doctor to realise simple check-ups within our community. Since we live in a medical desert, heath care is hardly accessible to the ones in need.
5. Last but not least: we need a webdesigner and a social media expert so as to enhance the digital visibility of our social fondation:" para el desarrollo y servicio social".
A word about our the goals of our fondation:
Acting for the development and social service among our rural communities, we focus on education, preventative health, agriculture, community tourism and environmental protection. Our mission is to promote and fortify community participation, thus contributing to the defense and the full exercise of human rights for our rural communities,
In that sense, digital communication could extend the scope of our action and accelerate our chances of success.
As you could read, the demand for support includes a wide range of skills and talent. We would be grateful to welcome ayone willing to support on one of these above mentioned field.Languages
