Description
The busy summer season is about to start on the farm and we still have a couple of volunteer slots available.
Please note that during the summer we require a 4 week stay:) Also it gets hot in the summer and the work here is often physical, so be prepared. This is NOT a hostel desk job. lol
We provide a shared room and a volunteer kitchen with basic pantry items included for self-cooking. The pantry is filled once a week as a vegetarian kitchen. Depending on your appetite and tastes you may want to supplement a bit. While meat is not purchased you are welcome to use it in the kitchen. We often cook for our workaway volunteers but when this is something you will do with other volunteers on your own time.
Here are the categories of work we have:
FARMING: Please apply for this position if you love nature, working outdoors, animals, food and getting dirty! Here is how you might fit in. You might be a Field Farmer if you have done some agriculture work, gardening, or are interested in permaculture, poly cropping, composting or irrigation. If you have building or tool skills that is also a plus. You could be a Harvest Farmer if you love turning ingredients into food. Here we are working on the harvest and ideas for our overstock of vegetables, so turning things into jams, jellies and sauces so nothing goes to waste! Animal Farmers need to have experience with animal care. We have a small farm of goats, pigs, donkeys and chickens all of whom are very friendly and crave attention. You would need to help keep them fed, health and happy this includes trimming their nails, brushing and mucking stalls. If you have building or tool skills that is also a plus.
HOSPITALITY: Please apply here if you are a people person! This is a very social position that includes some creative and computer work as well. IT skills are welcome along with photography, video and other languages. A driver's license is also a plus. Much of your time will be interacting with tourists in town and talking about the farm and helping them to sign up for a trip. We get kinda kooky and you can let your creativity fly with signage etc (sometimes we bring a baby goat). If you have a great idea about an event we are happy to also try something new. Organization skills are a plus.
Leaving early or not showing up is breaking your commitment and not only impacts us but is unfair to the other volunteers we turned down to give you your place at the farm.
Our land is a piece of magic and we strive to create a positive community of volunteers as there will be a group of you working together. We are wrapped up in nature here but still very close to cultural and tourist outings for you to explore on your time off.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We spent a combined 40 years working in Los Angeles Entertainment Industry so we can share many stories with you. We are artists and artists always learn from each other. I also ran a successful NGO in Animal Welfare in the states. We speak pretty good English and are currently learning Shqip (that's Albanian in Albanian) and can study together out in the field. As new ex-pats we have a unique view on changing and committing to a new lifestyle. Side trips can be arranged to visit unique local Albanian villages hidden away from the touritsy areas and engage directly with the traditional Albanian culture. We hope to inspire you in one way or another to follow your dreams.

We are looking for people who love the outdoors, enjoy gardening and getting dirty. Building skills are appreciated while farm experience will be met with awe and reverence! In the summer we can always use social people who can really get a conversation started. AND Most important we are looking for people with the desire to work with others and a positive attitude.

I stayed a total of 2 weeks at the farm, in November/December. The work was straightforward and was not difficult (if you don't mind working hard); be ready to get dirty depending on the tasks they ask you to do! I helped with tasks around… read more

Kyle and Shawn have been very welcoming and warm to us, and this is something we did really appreciate! They were very occupied with administrative issues, but they were always available when we had questions and when we needed… read more
Shawn and Kyle picked us up at the bus stop in finiq, and we went straight to buy chickens at an albanian house/farm, after the greetings, fresh peach and raki of course. So for cultural exchange, we did a front flip into albanian culture lol.
