Description
Hi there , we are looking for someone to help with construction of a kitchen extension and bathroom, so some practical experience with common tools is necessary, the bathroom will be mosaic, so any experience with that would be amazing, as I dont have any ... accomodation is in a tent , unless you have professional skills, in which case you can stay in my cabin and I'll stay in the tent!
Myself and Alba , my Spanish partner, are renting a beautiful strip of wild land by the coast of one of the last stretches of (almost!) unspoilt mediterranean Spain. The land is a 5 minute walk from a nice sleepy village, Maro, 10 minutes walk from the beach on a private path, and a 40 minute walk from tourist town Nerja. we have bikes you can use to explore the area as well...
unfortunately there was a big fire nearly 2 years ago which destroyed our kitchen , but we are in the process of building a new one, so there is a space to cook, charge phones, laptops and chill, and from looking at the lush vegetation you would hardly know there was a fire at all, although I lost many big trees..
Food is included , but we don't have fancy stuff, it's all basic vegetarian fare, lentils, rice , oats for breakfast , you get the idea ... if you have anything you specifically want we can talk about it though...
Accomodation is in a 2 person tent.
The place is pretty wild and jungly at the moment as we have not been there much, so you have to enjoy being in the middle of nature and all the creepy crawlies it contains ...
The kitchen garden produces a bare minimum , as I haven't been around to put energy there .. there is always kale and chard though! And there is a more overgrown area with recovering avocado and custard apple tree and more recently planted curious fruit trees like Sapote and mangos etc which I would love to turn into a multi layered forest garden.
All organic and full of wildflower and insects. . There are beautiful sea views and a little stream to chill by.
The hot shower only works if it's sunny at the moment, and there is a compost toilet..
There is a really nice group of people and friends in the area here that are open and welcoming and it easy to make friends of all nationalities. We also have a communal space in which we meet for occasional workshops, games evenings and communal work days, the occasional jam etc..
The land is beautiful , there is a stream with little waterfalls,
sea views,
beautiful beaches and mountains a short walk away,
a bike at your disposal
A warm and welcoming international community of interesting people and we can help you with your Spanish lessons.
Now the negatives: it is hot and muggy in summer! so bring light loose clothes! And there are mosquitos about too, so better if it is long sleeved . And you will very probably see snakes, spiders, lizards, geckos and all manners of critters about while you are here, so better if you're not squeemish ! Althought there is nothing that can harm you and they are always more scared of you... Apart from the mozzies! if you are lucky and keep your eyes peeled you can also see chameleons ! Think of Maro as a lost chunk of the Carribean in Andalucia x

Jack

Puedes… read more
Stefan is a special person for many reasons , not least of these is that he enjoys washing up . He is respectful and considerate of personal space and knows how to entertain himself with his books and music , but he is also sociable, easy to chat to and likes to get to know new people and help them out wherever he can. I left… read more
