Description
Hello!
Updated , July 13th : I am looking for a native English speaker, or someone who lives in an English-speaking country with a C1 proficiency for November 2024 for between 1 week and 1 month ). You will have 2 mains tasks :
- helping me to prepare for the Cambridge C1 exam and share conversation in English with me.
- helping in my volunteer work with children ( Azra 9 and Keila, 12 year old) in Rennes on Saturday or Sunday afternoon. . I have plenty of games and the children are eager to learn. I would also organize activities such as cooking, reading and plays. I use flash cards to teach vocabulary.
Your main task is to speak to me in English and your mother tongue for 2-3 hours each evening. It's important to me that you take it seriously and you leave your phone in your room during this time. I would love to hear about your country, your culture and various subjects such as the news, your job, your studies, your travels, your life experiences. We can share a game, a song, a movie or a recipe for genuine intercultural exhange. I am not comfortable being the only one talking or asking questions. I would like you to be proactive and talkative, and to teach me expressions and phrases. Hosting native speakers is a precious opportunity for me to progress.
I also ask for simple cleaning tasks : vacuuming (every second day), mopping (once a week) and washing dishes together after the meal. My flat is very easy to clean because everything is almost new.
I live in what we call "habitat participatif" (co-housing). I have my own flat but I am part in a group of neighbours who share things in order to reduce our ecological footprint. We cultivete a garden together. Our hens give us eggs, we enjoy 3 tortoises and guinea pigs. We are renovating an old restaurant in front of our buildings in order to create a flat with a kitchen and guest rooms. We hope to create a common laudry room e perhaps share cars. We compost, have solar panels and some of us have toilet waterless.
My neigbourhood is composed of 23 flats distributed in 3 buildings. There are families with young children as well as old people. Children often play together outside and some of my neighbours regularly garden together on Saturday morning. We sometimes share lunch or pre-dinner drink in front of the garden when the weather is sunny. Some of my neighbours are close friends.
I live alone in a 2-bedrooms flat.My job is with asylum seekers but during my free time, I volunteer with children. My hobbys include board games, hiking, cooking, reading novels, watching movies, travelling and learning foreign languages.
I have both Couchsurfed and hosted couchsurfers some years ago. I have also volunteered through workaway in Scotland, Spain, Poland, Italy, Turkey and Morocco pre covid, and I have taught French to children and adults in families or organizations.Types of help and learning opportunities

Dol-de-Bretagne is a small town but has most things you will need: food shops, a swimming pool, a library, a cinema, all less than 10 min walk from my flat. Th train station is i 10 minutes on foot. You can easily reach the sea by train (Saint Malo). We are near Le Mont St Michel, Cancale and Dinan. The train journey takes 35 min and from Rennes, there are buses to different towns in Brittany. If you have a car, they are plenty of walks and hikes around, along Canal de la Rance, along the coast, and nearby forests.
