    Description

    Dear WorkAwayers

Coming autumn, we are looking for a couple or two friends.

Some more about ourselves and what to expect from your stay: we live on a hillside amongst olive trees, mango trees and avocado trees. We ourselves also have olive trees, avocados, some citrus, almonds and vegetable gardens

We are always in need of helping hands in and around the house and on the land. Pruning, shredding, weeding and cutting grass but also painting and working in garden are the main tasks. We also have small construction works and repairs going on every once in a while. It is good to know that this area is great for cultural exploration, leisure and hiking.

To fully enjoy your stay bringing a car is a great plus as we live a 20 minutes drive from the beautiful town center and the beaches. Nearest bar and shop can be found at 10 minutes.

If you would decide to come and help us, you will have plenty of time to enjoy Andalusia, Granada, our surroundings and the amazing Costa Tropical. There are two language cafés, twice a week. There will be concerts, movies, musea, excellent public transport to Granada and Malaga and lots of beach life and nature to enjoy.

You can use our b&b with private bathroom, living room, bedroom and kitchen. If you would come alone, you wll have a studio with sleeping couch available. You can also use the pool in pool season.

We love to serve the two of you good main meals with lots of fruits and veggies, partly from our garden. For the joint coffee/tea and bocadillo break, breakfast and evening dish we will provide the ingredients. We bake our own bread and also we often have fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs.

Also important to know is that we highly value your and our privacy. So apart from an occasional hang-out and of course the chatting during helping time or language exchange you will spent your free time on your own or the two of you together.

Andalusian helping morning would be from 8/ 9 am to 2 pm, with regular and long pauses. At 2 pm it is the local time for the main meal of the day. Afterwards you would be free, also in the weekend to enjoy beautiful Andalucía.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Although I am not a teacher by profession, I can provide some free Spanish, Dutch or English lessons for beginners and conversation for more advanced students. Also there are two language exchange cafés in Almuñécar. As we are living here for 20 years now, we are very well integrated and know our way around. We love to help you find your way around. There is beautiful nature, some unspoiled beaches, Morish and Roman architecture and some very good local food and culture to experience... Nearby town is Almuñecar, a thriving and vivid Spanish community with many beaches and predominantly Spanish tourism.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Fully equipped cozy apartment: double bed or single bed, kitchen, small living room 12m2, WiFi, television screen, bathroom with shower, excellent WiFi, private terrace; all as a part of a beautiful country house/villa, built in authentic Andalusian Nazarí style surrounded by olive trees, avocado trees, citrus, vegetable gardens (all eco) and a beautiful private pool, which is closed from November till beginnings of April.
You will be served the ingredients for a Spanish breakfast and evening dish. You can count on a home made almuerzo (main hot meal). Our diet is mostly vegetarian with fish and an occasional eco chicken, but vegan is also possible. As you will have the afternoon off, from 14.00 pm and on, you can have a small meal or free tapas in town or wherever you feel like it. There is a small private kitchen at your disposal.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

You can explore nature in the province of Granada. Once in a while we might be able to offer you a lift to where we are gping for a hikebut you need to share the car with our two dogs , they will be in the open trunk 😉there is the Alhambra in Granada city, the freshly caught fish as a part of the local cuisine, many bars and restaurants some with live music and always the free tapas that come with every drink. There is a lot of Morish architecture, including our house, also a nearby Roman aquaduct and a castle. There are many beaches and there is subtropical coral and two language exchange options. There are protected beaches, with superb views from the cliffs. You could cycle, dive, hike and there is also a parapenting school. The best of all is the warm subtropical climate, even better than in the Valencia area, where our son lives. There are excellent bus connections to all coastal towns and Cities, up to Malaga.... We recommend you rent a small car, not expensive in winter. If that is not within your budget, you can join us when we drive to town in the weekend or in the afternoon, two or three times a week. If you would like to go out and stay till late, you would need your own car or a taxi to return at the house.
