  Description

  My name is José Manuel and I am a native of this place. I live on a one hectare farm with centenary olive trees, citrus trees and a great variety of fruit trees. There is also an orchard, chickens and a swimming pool. The cultivation of the farm is organic, no chemicals are used. The house is located at the foot of the mountains and further down flows the Guadalfeo river. It is 3 kilometers from Órgiva in the Alpujarra of Granada.
  
  I can offer accommodation and food to 2 volunteers in exchange for help on the farm in agricultural work, orchard, garden and house for approx. 20 hours per week.
  The volunteers will cook in turns and we want to eat together twice a day. At weekends we will eat independently.
  
  Once a week we will come together to talk about the past week, how we are feeling, what went well and what not so much and about the tasks for the week to come.
  
  It would be very cool to do some activities or outgoings together, too!
  
  The accommodation is in an independent and well equipped house. The volunteers will have to share a room.
  Esther, a volunteer who is responsible for the management of this page, will also live in the house (I am looking forward to meet you! I came here last year and fell totally in love with the place. So I came back and will hopefully share it with you guys, too! )
  
  We really like the calmness and peace of the place and are searching for a harmonic way of living together. We want it to be a place of respect for each other where the needs of everyone are heard and met. We want to welcome the unique way of every person and give space for their ideas, creativity, talents…!
  
  The farm is not a business. Everything that is harvested is for our own consumption or for the family. The idea is to be grow as much good quality products as we need. It would be great to be able to conserve the overflow for the winter.

  Me llamo José Manuel y soy nativo de este lugar. Vivo en una finca de una hectárea con olivos centenarios, cítricos y gran variedad de frutales. También hay un huerto, gallinas y una piscina. El cultivo de la finca es bio, no se usa ningún producto químico. La casa está situada al pie de la montana y abajo fluye el río Guadalfeo. Está a 3 kilómetros de Órgiva en la Alpujarra granadina.
  
  Puedo ofrecer alojamiento y comida a 2 voluntarios a cambio de ayuda en la finca en labores de agricultura, huerto, jardín y casa de 20h aprox. por semana. Los voluntarios cocinarán en turnos y comeremos juntos dos veces al día. El fin de semana cada uno se alimentará como quiera.
  
  Una vez a la semana nos juntáremos para hablar de la semana pasada, compartir como nos sentimos, lo que fue bueno o no tan bueno y de las tareas para la semana que viene.
  
  El alojamiento es en una casa independiente y bien equipada. Los voluntarios tendrán que compartir una habitación.
  En la casa vivirá tambien Esther, una voluntaria que es responsable del management de esta pagina. (Tengo muchas ganas de conoceros! Vine pot primera vez el año pasado y me enamoré totalmente del lugar así que volví y espero poder compartirlo con vosotros pronto!)
  
  Nos gusta mucho la calma y la paz del lugar y buscamos una convivencia armónica. Queremos que sea un lugar de respeto mutuo donde se escuchen y atiendan las necesidades de todos. ¡Queremos acoger la manera única de cada persona y dar espacio a sus ideas, su creatividad, sus talentos...!
  
  También sería genial hacer paseos juntos, excursiones…
  
  La finca no es un negocio. Todo lo que se cosecha es para el propio consumo o para la familia. La idea es de hacer crecer tantos productos de buena calidad que necesitemos. Sería genial poder conservar lo que sobra.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  Travelers can get to know the natural environment where they can do many activities in nature and immerse themselves in the local culture. We want to learn together, think of good ways of living together, of projects or beautiful walks. The farm is a place with a lot of peace and tranquility where one can recharge with sun, good food and company.
  I also offer some learning activities of handicraft activities, for example basket weaving and others.

  Los viajeros pueden conocer el entorno natural donde se pueden hacer muchas actividades en la naturaleza y sumergirse en la cultura local. Queremos aprender juntos, pensar de buenas formas de convivienca, de projectos o paseos bonitos. La finca es un lugar con mucha paz y tranquilidad dónde uno puede recargarse de sol, buena comida y companía.
  Ofrezco también algunas actividades de aprendizaje de actividades artesanales, por ejemplo el tejer cestos y otros.

  Hablo muy poco inglés y estoy interesado en aprender Esther habla español, alemán, francés y inglés. I speak just a little bit of english but would be interested in learning more. Esther speaks Spanish, German, French and English.

  Accommodation

  The accommodation is in an independent rural house equipped with kitchen, bathroom, living room, 2 bedrooms with 3 beds, garden and swimming pool. The two volunteers will have to share a room. I live a little further in another house.
  There is also place for tents or hammocks.

  El alojamiento es en una vivienda rural independiente equipada con cocina, baño, sala de estar, 2 dormitorios con 3 camas, jardín y piscina. Los dos voluntarios tendrán que compartir una pieza.Mi casa está un poco más arriba.
  Tambien hay espacio para tiendas o hamacas.

  What else ...

  Órgiva is the nearest town and is just down the road. Walking takes about 40 min. But there is a bike you can use and we will drive to town several times a week. Hitchhiking works quite well, too.
  It is a town with many cultural, sport, social and spiritual activities. It’s small but buzzing and kinda the hotspot for hippies and such in Spain. There is a large community of international people, many from Northern Europe, approx. 80 nationalities in total. It has restaurants, supermarkets and many "alternative" groups/projects/classes/comunes etc. There is a handicrafts and food market once a week, cafes....
  
  The Alpujarra is a mountain region, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, with many typical villages to visit and many hiking trails and sports activities, or mountaineering on the peaks of the Sierra Nevada to do. You can also walk to the river from the house to have a bath. Granada is one hour by bus and the beach is also one hour by bus.

  Órgiva es el pueblo más cercano y es bien sencillo llegar. Son 40 min aprox. caminando pero también hay una bici que se puede usar y iremos con el coche un par de veces a la semana. Ir a dedo también funciona bastante bien. Es un pueblo con muchas actividades culturales, deportivas, sociales y espirituales. Es chico pero con mucho movimiento! Es un poco el hotspot para hippies y tal en España. Hay una gran comunidad de gente internacional, muchos del norte de Europa, aprox. 80 nacionalidades en total. Tiene restaurantes, supermercados y muchos grupos/projectos/clases/comunas "alternativos". Hay un mercado de artesanía y de comida una vez a la semana, mercadillos, cafés...
  
  La Alpujarra es una comarca de montaña, a los pies de la Sierra Nevada, con muchos pueblo típicos para visitar y muchas rutas de senderismo y actividades deportivas, o hacer alpinismo en las cumbres de Sierra Nevada. También se puede caminar hasta el rio desde la casa para banarse. Granada está a una hora en autobús y la playa también a una hora en autobús.
