    Description

This is a full time school for studying Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoist classic texts, poetry, and culture. With a variety of focus groups on texts or for college students, it operates year round as a thriving Buddhist-Confucian culture community. It is supported through organic farming and after school programs around Taipei to support the educational focus of the main center.

It has generations of members, is volunteer run, and frequently has pilgrimages or charitable activities in Taiwan and S.E. Asia with a history of supporting education and housing for displaced children.

While the programs (both in person or online) are all in Mandarin many members speak English and it is located a few metro stops from the heart of Taipei.

If you wish to deepen Mandarin study and skills, staff are happy to converse with you and you can attend any of the daily text study and culture classes.

It frequently has outings to temples and cultural sites around Taipei you'd be free to join.

Learning about Buddhism and Confucian customs in context, community embodies these values and places an emphasis on broad thinking and critical inquiry in their classes and social activities.

The age demographics of members are from youth, college students, and seniors, all with a variety of backgrounds. Staying here would be an excellent way to see more 'traditional culture' based on Confucian and Buddhist values, share perspectives on social and global issues, and enjoy delicious home cooked vegetarian food and snacks everyday.

Option to attend weekly Buddhist sutra chanting groups and access to a meditation hall.

Time off is flexible and we would like you to participate in the community and shared work while also hoping you can explore the history and culture of Taipei. It is located five minutes from Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Station and transportation around Taipei/Taiwan is generally very easy.

Since this is an active school focused on teaching Buddhism and Confucian values we request guests to not drink or bring alcohol onto the property, have overnight guests, bring meat/fish, and be generally respectful and modest when interacting with students, volunteers, respected guests and teachers, etc.
