Description
We are a non-profit, charity organization run by volunteers. Our farm is located just 5 km from the beautiful lake Balaton. We rescue animals that have been abused, neglected, abandoned, bound for slaughter, injured or unwanted in any way and give them safety, rehabilitation and comfort in our open air lifetime sanctuary ranch. We take care of 15 horses, 4 calves, 1 donkey, 2 cats, 8 sheep, 40 goats, 1 dog. They live free and peacefully on our 40 acre sanctuary.
The life of our shelter is based on our volunteers' work. We have no boss, no one to tell you what to do but we except you to be responsible and enthusiastic to take care about our animals and the land where we live. We are all here for the animals. We show you our daily routine and you can be a part of the experience.Types of help and learning opportunities

Our Workawayers will be able to experience the rural Hungary, a really unique and peaceful place. They will work with horses, goats, calves, sheep; these beautiful creatures who can teach so much to us:
Confidence - to be able to manage an animal of that size and ability.
Responsibility - to come out and care for the animals day in and day out and when you are sick or lazy, you cant just decide not to come in. They depend on you.
The value of hard work.
Our Workawayers will take care of 40 crazy goats, which means that they will learn how to milk them, how to herd them and how to give them medicine when they need.Help
There are various tasks at the farm, like building fences, shelters or drinking-through for the horses. We are looking for volunteers who are motivated to work with rescued horses, help them to socialize with people. Our volunteers also need to take care of the goats: milk them every morning, give them water and keep an eye on them.
The minimum stay is 3 weeks.Languages spoken

What else ...
Lake Balaton is located only 5 km from our ranch which is the largest lake in Central Europe, and one of the region's foremost tourist destinations. By cars it takes around 10 minutes to get to the Lake Balaton from our farm.
Usually we have 2-4 workawayers at the same time. At the evenings our volunteers can enjoy time together next to the fire or in the cozy living room.A little more information

Zita, Csaba and the 2 Daniels are all very interesting people and we'd love to meet again.
They all do their very best for the rescued animals and we could experience that it's not always an easy thing to do, so we have a lot of respect for this initiative.

This was my first workaway experience and I stayed there for a week. When I came to Siofok it was a bit misunderstanding when I supposed to arrive, so my first impression was 4 hours waiting for someone to pick me up. Transport by bus is also possible, but not on weekends.
