Help
We have just purchased this incredible eco retreat on the Isla Los Brasiles here in Nicaragua!
It was built by over 700 volunteers but unfortunately hasn't been occupied for the last 3.5yrs, so as you can see, we have some work ahead of us!
The island itself is located in poneloya, with leon being the big city closet, we can be there in under an hour! Half the fun is the ride here, a quick boat trip, then horse and cart!
We're putting the call out to whoever wants to learn natural building methods such as cob, light straw and clay, round timber, permaculture, yoga ( massive 32 space shala) and best of all, the island itself is a turtle nesting sanctuary, so you will see and maybe participate in turtle releasing! We also encourage our volunteers to run workshops for everyone at the project!
We believe in a life/work balance, and because of this, we only ask for 3hrs per day M-F.
We have sooo much space for free camping, can accommodate up to 35 people!!
Our focus will be on natural building methods such as light straw and clay walls, stone and masonry bathroom walls, and floors, some round timber construction, gardening, setting the vegetable garden up, paving of natural stone, palm thatching of roofs, we have some incredible ideas if you're an artist for our private cabañas and signage around the retreat. We provide all safety equipment(ear plugs/safety glasses/gloves) and show safety checks on all of our power tools.
We're also looking for someone who can help create an online presence, social media, website, photography, drone work. Open to all ideas!
From now till end of april, we will be seeking many of you to help us launch for the new year!!💙💚
So come and experience life in a community setting whilst learning about yourself, the land, and the local indigenous community!
Meal plans are available at a cost of $85 per week should you choose not to cook your own food. Meal plan meals are shared between hosts and everyone choosing to. We will be running plenty of workshops, and dropping into ceremonies when we feel the call!Languages

We've got you covered with 2 awesome outdoor showers (one more to build) and 3 eco-friendly compost toilets ( 1 more to build). It's all about convenience! When it comes to food, you've got options. You can either bring your own grub or opt for a delicious meal package offered by the project, $85 per week. Just a heads up, the communal kitchen is available for shared meals only. So get ready to mingle and dig into some tasty treats!
If you want to bring your own food, we have a rocket oven for you to use in the free camping area! What else ...
Surf, head into leon for nightlife, go volcano boarding, hiking, fishing, wakeboarding, horse riding, street food, national parks, or just relaxing on the 24km stretch of beach out the front! Her knowledge towards anything garden related was incredible. She actually helped us design our garden for the upcoming rainy season.
The best thing about Peta was her down to earth nature, her humour, and she is an absolute wizz in the kitchen.
She initially only wanted to stay for a week, but in the end… read more
