We are located in the Songwe District in the south part of Tanzania, the place called Mkwajuni (Mwambani) if you see a map.

    Transport
If you arrive at the airport in Dar Es Salaam for the first time main way to get to our project is by bus and you will speed one night at Dar Es Salaam because the bus to Mbeya is departing at 6am and you will travel by the New Force bus up to Mbeya town, because there no straight bus up to Songwe so you will spend one night again at mbeya town next day you will take another bus at mbalizi station departing time at 9 am so you will take 3 hours up to mkwajuni. For the volunteers who want to come there by themselves and if you need someone to pick you up i will pick you.

    Weather
Since we are near a bit not close to the equator, it is generally cold during the day (21?-22?C) and fresh by the night (12?-20?C).

    What to bring?
Comfortable and light and cold clothing for the day and a warm sweater or a jacket. Be aware that Tanzania moral standards are different from western dress codes and therefore wearing shorts or skirts above your knees will get you a lot of attention.

Other important items: mosquito repellant and net, malaria tablets (consult your doctor before departure), personal medicine, sunscreen, hat, comfortable shoes and slippers. Feel free to bring any other items you think will be necessary for you.

    Accommodation
Accommodation is at the family’s house, where you will be provided with bed and adequate beddings. With the host family you will be encouraged to eat local African dishes (which most people find quite appetizing!) and take part of the family life and duties.

What to do during the stay?
There are different projects and services you can take part in. Arrangements will be made for you depending on your skills and preferences though we need every kind of volunteers regardless of the skills . You will be the one deciding how much time (hours and days) and energy you are willing to spend on any project. • What else ...

    What else ...

    MEALS:
We cook food that we normally eat with or without the volunteer as we want to show you our culture. The food is regional and seasonal, so it is not quite the diversity you may know from your home. We consider the dietary requirements of the volunteers. There are volunteers who are vegetarians, vegans and some who don’t eat certain kinds of foods (Muslims avoid pork). We want our volunteers to be comfortable from the first day so please tell us about the food you prefer and please tell us when you are getting hungry (sometimes it is so busy that it can get quite late for dinner).
