Description
the Farm is a small (60 acre) mixed farm including hay production, chickens for meat, pigs, sheep, cows, bees, vegetable gardens, fruit trees and an exciting new project we’re working on, a large cut flower garden for market. We will also have some building projects in the works. It will be a busy year with many varied projects!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We love to hear about our volunteers lives and experiences, and in return offer rural farm living as an opportunity to experience Canadian culture and hospitality. This is a beautiful area of BC, and we are fairly close to world renowned Wells Grey Park. There are plenty of hiking and biking opportunities, and we try and enjoy local events with our helpers. We've had many volunteers from countries including China, Germany, Britain, France, Belgium, Japan and the US over the past 14 years.
Help
The volunteer help is mainly farm tasks but may include cooking or housework. The farm help includes helping in the gardens, flower field, and the hayfields, irrigation, firewood, painting, etc. A large flower crop is grown and marketed at a farmers market. A comfort level with equipment or a willingness to learn is an asset. The farm is peaceful and beautiful.

Accommodation
A private travel trailer is available for volunteers and easily accommodates a single person or partners. Meals are eaten in the farm house or on the deck. The farm is fairly quiet, - our children are grown and gone but often come back to visit with grandchildren. WiFi is available, but may be limited. (i.e. streaming and Movie downloads). TV is not available - we enjoy the outdoors too much! Most of our food is organic and grown on the farm. A guest room in the house is available at times in the event of an overlap of volunteers.
What else ...
The North Thompson Valley is a beautiful area. We are 10 minutes from a small town and 1 hour from Kamloops, a small city. Wells Gray Park is a must see! Lots of wildlife in the area.

This was our first workaway experience and we did quarantine here.
We got to live in a nice little cabin right next to the main house with another german girl who we quickly became friends with. So we had our own bathroom and kitchen (which we didn't really need) and our own… read more
