Although Makennas visit was shortened by a last minute change of arrangements, she filled her 3 weeks with us with boundless energy.

Makenna carried out tasks and chores willingly and cooperatively with little intervention or direction.

I spent 3 weeks in Castlecomer with Cynthia and her family and I left with a new purple sweater and SO many fond memories. A typical day consisted of laundry, dishes, a few general housekeeping tasks, and helping with dinner. This leaves plenty of time for board games, movie nights, or trips into Kilkenny. Cynthia uses her life experiences to give

A few more things to note: Steve is an especially great time when drinks and cornhole are involved, Aodhan has the voice of an angel, if you twist Ruadhan's arm enough he WILL hang out with you, and if you see something in one of the dog's mouths look away because you probably don't want to know what it is.
If you are given the opportunity to join Cynthia and her family absolutely take it. I wouldn't trade it for anything and wish I could have stayed longer. Miss you already and I hope I run into you again. 💚
Gabby was a pleasure to have as a workaway.
She was communicative, relaxed and very helpful.
Tasks were completed in a timely manner and she asked for clarification if needed.
She had a great adaptability and embraced our family changes and circumstances as they unfolded.

I have spent 5 weeks in Cynthia's house with the family and the lovely dogs ans cat. Everybody was very nice to me and I felt comfortable very quickly !

As for the accommodation, due to circumstances I was lucky to try almost every bedroom during my stay ! But usually the Workaways stay in the guest house just outside the main house. It is a very comfortable little house where I felt very good !
Castlecomer discovery Park is a lovely place to go for a walk break and it is just nearby the house. If you want to travel, there are regular buses that will take you to Kilkenny but Cynthia was always here for me when I needed a lift. I often had to take my free time during the week and Cynthia was very flexible, so thank you for that !
It was a great stay for me, hope to see you again soon !

Karli was a breath of fresh air and brought the best of herself and her heritage to share. She took direction easily and embraced routine tasks with ease and grace. She wanted to embrace everything about our little island (even the weather), and it certainly threw all seasons at her.

She had the confidence to cook a South African meal and gave us the honor of sharing her 21st birthday. She entertained us with her wit.

I wish her well and hope that our paths will cross again one day in the future. Much Love and Best Wishes.

Castlecomer was my first Workaway experience and I am absolutely thrilled with the experience! The cottage is such an excellent stay (I felt throughly spoiled by the space and amenities).
On top of that, Cynthia and her whole family are so lovely, they are a bonus. I had such a wonderful time getting to know them all and swapping stories. I felt

I've spent almost three months with this family, from September to late November, I want to thank Cynthia and Steve for the warm welcome in their household and for being around their children, especially the youngest one Aodhan, and Israel, the lovely boy that they host for an exchange year. In these months I had the opportunity to visit England, travel with Steve, and stay in their home there. I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of members of this huge family, a long list of exquisite people, which was a precious thing for me, I consider it meaningful to appreciate the essence of these people. I loved my accommodation, the cottage is beautiful, I have to admit that I miss having a little cozy house all for myself. Family dinners were a moment of reunion and the cat lying on the sofa beside me was hilarious. I learned a lot from this experience and their daily life, I hope to have left to them something in return. I recommend this family and wish them all the best!

My stay with Cynthia was really great! It was my first Workaway experience and my first trip on my own. I stayed for 1 month and Cynthia did everything to make me feel comfortable. The accommodation was perfect and very comfortable.

All the rest of the family were also very kind to me. The family would take me with them on their excursions.

Cynthia treated me like a daughter and always helped me when I had a problem.
I can't thank Cynthia and Stephen enough for everything they did for me. They made this trip memorable. So don't hesitate to contact them!
I wish them all the best for the future.

Frini adapted to her new surroundings really well.
She was extremely reliable and trustworthy.

She left a lovely review which was really appreciated, a sure reflection that you get out of any situation

I got to spend three months with this family. If you’re considering contacting Cynthia - do it. Should she have contacted you - just know you’re in luck.
I can only agree with the feedback from the previous Workawayers.
The tasks are comprised of light housework for the most part, which you’ll be familiar with either from helping at home or

Cynthia and I took care of dinner together most days, and she was always considerate of me being a vegetarian. No complaints about the food – everything tasted great. The spacious accommodation with a comfy bed is perfect to rest and recharge.
Cynthia and Stephen were extremely hospitable, attentive, generous and always considerate of me. Regarding the organisation of day trips, they can help you out (public transport options, recommendations, alternatives). Time permitting, they’ll even give you a lift to the bus stop or train station or pick you up. Being taken along on trips is probably something you wouldn’t experience with many other families.
Very appreciative of my experience with this family (my 1st Workaway experience). Thanks a lot!You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

There are so many great things I could mention here! I spent amazing 10 weeks with the family and the time was just flying.

Cooking together in the evenings was always a lot of fun! I learned a good new bunch of recipes and dietary restrictions, like being a vegetarian were absolutely no problem. The food was always great and new ideas or recipes were always welcome.
The accomodation was obviously more than anyone could've asked for and there is a good connection to the public transport, especially from Kilkenny.
I was looked after and included so well the whole time and Cynthia & Stephen really tried their best to improve my journey even more, helping me out in so many ways.
They took me along on family trips, but were also extremely supportive regarding the organisation of my own travels, always had a recommendation for a nice place and made sure I got back safely.
This family gave me so much more than I could have asked for; They may have busy lives, but are eager to let you play your part in it. Thank you.You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Where should I start?
I was lucky to come across such an open-minded family, open to others who integrated me into their family life.

Cynthia and Stephen are exceptionally attentive and care about the well-being of their Workawayers. Regarding food for instance: Cynthia had bought vegetarian dishes before I even arrived, concerning the accommodation...I was "rotten spoiled"!
I can't thank you enough for everything you've helped me with and for the unique stay I've had!
PS for other Workawayers: it's worth not targeting the "big cities only". This part of Ireland is well served by public transport. Plus, do not hesitate to communicate your needs/desires for traveling, this family has an open ear!You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

My experience at Cynthia’s house was just great!! It was my first experience and I never thought I would be so well enough to stay until my work allowed me to.
