We are a animal shelter formed to help abandoned and mistreated animals in the Algarve, South of Portugal.
Our kennels are beautiful little wooden houses, fully insulated, where we pair 2 to 3 dogs maximum in each kennel so they have a peaceful place to chill and sleep. All our dogs go for walks and have fun time at our parks every day.
We have a very motivated team that genuinely love animals. This place has proven to be a healing place not only for animals but to a few good human souls too :)
Our goal is to give a second chance to those abandoned dogs by finding them new loving families and homes, locally and abroad :-)
We also aim to educate and inform the local population about the benefits of sterilising their animals and the raise awareness about animal welfare.
Many previous volunteers had their heart stolen by one of our shelter dogs and ended up adopting one, giving them a new loving home ! :-) So if you also fall in love with one of our rescued dogs and want to adopt one, we'll walk you through the adoption process ;-)
If you are willing to help those that have left a sad passed behind and work hard to see them happy you are more then welcome to join us :) we could use your help and kindness.

Help
We need help with cleaning kennels, walking the dogs, exercising and socializing them, cleaning the cattery, socializing the cats and spending quality time with them, helping with the recycling, and general maintenance of the shelter and property. You need to be hard working and flexible. If you don't like lots of cleaning or the smell of dog poo, then we are not the place for you! You must like walking, you may walk up to 10km (if not more) a day with the doggies.

Accommodation
Accommodation is comprised of shared bedrooms (three to four in a room) in a wooden house and 4 mobile homes. Shared bathroom, kitchen and living space.
Food is not included.
For shopping, the town is only a 20 minutes away by walk. You will enjoy it since it’s a lovely country walk with a beautiful scenery.
Drinks (water) is included.
We have a swimming pool you can enjoy and lots of green landscape and nature.
We can never promise that the doggies won't bark in the night and you will be able to hear them from the accommodation. Most of the time they are quiet but occasionally something sets them off barking for a little while! You may also be required to sleep with a dog or puppy in your room as we do have some house dogs!
VERY IMPORTANT- The accommodations are responsibility of the volunteers to clean.
What else ...
We are situated just 10 minutes out of Loule, Algarve and only 20 minutes drive from the nearest beach! There's lots to see and do in your free time! Loule bus station is 10 minutes away, the train station is just 15 minutes away and Faro airport is 30 mins away. Good travel links around Portugal. Loule is a historical market town, very pretty with lots of little cafes and bars, a theatre, gypsy market etc.

I can only advise everyone to spend time at the place. I spent 2 weeks here and enjoyed every second. The work was fun and the dogs give you so much love.
