Description
Steve and I live on a quiet and peaceful 7 acre hobby farm in Abbotsford BC. I offer wellness sessions and programs for children and youth while Steve works at the local railway getting ready to retire. Our animal family is made up of seven horse, two miniature horses, kune kune pigs, sheep, chickens, cats and a dog. We also have a small garden we hope to expand upon.
In the past we have run a bed and breakfast and enjoyed getting to know travellers and share our little slice of heaven with them. We have hosted farm stay individuals this year which is a new adventure for us. We enjoy meeting new people and creating a mutually rewarding collaborative environment here at the farm.
We are looking for a volunteer who loves animals and would be happy in our travel trailer set up next to our house or a private bedroom with shared bathroom in our house. We are easy to get along with and loves sharing stories.
Please note that we require all workaway folks to be double vaccinated as we work with children and youth.Types of help and learning opportunities

Steve and I have done some travelling and are eager to travel again after retirement. We are curious about other parts of the world and enjoy hearing from our guests. We are proud to share our Canadian heritage and suggest the amazing places to explore around our area and other parts of British Columbia.
Help
Duties would include daily clean up and care of the animals. For those that love to cook vegetarian/vegan meals we would be appreciative of this as well. There are always additional activities from building to repairing things around the farm. We are flexible and work to find a fit that works for everybody. We all help and being part of our team and contributing equally between volunteers is very important to us.

We have two offerings available. One is our 27 ft well equipped travel trailer which is next to our house for a person wanting more alone time (could accommodate a couple). We also have a spare room in our house with shared bathroom, kitchen and living room (suitable for one person). We enjoy sharing dinners together and often a movie or two during the week. Most evenings we retire for the evening at 9 pm.
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate workaways with pets. What else ...
There are so many wonderful outdoor activities close to our farm (hiking trails and parks) and we can suggest day trips to Whistler, Squamish, Chilliwack or Harrison Hot Springs.

They are a generous, funny and kind couple. I felt welcomed, helpful and it was like I was part of the family. I got on well with the other volunteers.
