Description
Hello, I'm Birgit, I'm from Germany and live on a 3.5ha farm called Pihlaka with a dog, chickens and rabbits in Estonia. Other animals such as sheep and goats will follow, because my goal is to live as self-sufficiently as possible here. I earn my money with an animal boarding house, so there are often other animals, especially dogs, who also live in the house.
The farm is 15 km from the Latvian border and 3 km from the sea. I bought it in 2021 in a very desolate condition and am spending my days rebuilding it. Helping hands are very welcome for this.
I am a non-smoker and therefore only accept non-smokers. You should also have a good feeling for the preservation of nature.Types of help and learning opportunities

I am happy to return the favor with free accommodation and good food. The animals I keep are also eaten and tofu doesn't grow here ;-), may be for strong vegetarians not the right place. I am happy to pass on my many years of knowledge about self-sufficiency, in particular the keeping and slaughtering of animals, growing vegetables and seed propagation. I try to do as much as possible myself.
Help
The farm is farmed organically, but only serves self-sufficiency.
In 2024 I am looking for people
- who are strong (to dismantle an oven)
- with artistic talent for the design of the house
- for building a pasture fence
- for the creation of a vegetable garden
- with carpentry skills
- to make firewood (mostly in autumn/spring)Languages spoken

You can use my bedroom and there is plenty of space to set up tents.
In summer I can accommodate 2 people, when they sleep in a tent. What else ...
The supposedly most beautiful sandy beach in Estonia is 3 km away. There is also a great bathing lake 11 km away, where you are usually all alone. Both are very warm in summer.
Nature lovers, especially butterfly lovers, will get their money's worth here. There are two raised bogs nearby that can be walked on. The third largest city Pärnu with many sights is 50km away and can be reached by bus, which does not run frequently. From Pärnu you can reach the cities of Tallinn, Tartu (2024 Capital of Culture!) easily and cheaply by long-distance bus. For Riga exists a bus stop 20km from here. But even here in the country there are many cultural offers in summer.A little more information
