Description
Hi, I’m Denise, a Portuguese/American retired orchestra musician. My place is 30 minutes from Lisbon, near the Sintra mountains and the small town of Colares, just a few km from several beaches. I host yoga classes and retreats regularly, our teacher is Georgia Marnham, of “Yoga Bahia”. Regular yoga classes are available to volunteers.
The Quinta is over a hectare of land and we have gradually been expanding the organic garden and fruit orchard, as well as building some interesting structures, including a a Mongolian Yurt, a strawbale cabin and an 'Earthship'.
There are great surfing beaches nearby, trails and cliffs for climbing. We have a lot of animals, including 4 horses. We would love to have some long term help! Amongst other things, looking after the horses, the garden, and maintaining the natural swimming pool and general maintenance is needed. Looking for the right couple, or single person with a passion for horses, to join us!Types of help and learning opportunities

We have already had quite a bit of experience with environmentally sustainable types of construction, and can share that knowledge.

Help
Would love to find a couple who is both good with horses, plants, and carpentry / construction , if possible. That might include fence building, compost making, maintaining the natural swimming pool, wood chopping, painting,... The length of stay depends on your plans and how well we get on, but we always start with a one week trial period.

A large Mongolian yurt with a wood burning stove and windows ( plus use of a “community kitchen” - compost toilet and solar shower.)
What else ...
There is SO much to see and do in this area, you will not be bored! Culturally, Sintra and Lisbon have much to offer; for sports we have biking, surfing, climbing and hiking, horseback riding, among others. At our land we have a pool, volleyball court, table tennis, etc.
