Description
Hello there! We are a young family (2 adults, 2 kids, 1 dog and some chickens) living just outside Cleggan, Co.Galway , a beautiful and remote part of Ireland's West Coast.
Types of help and learning opportunities
GardeningDIY and building projectsAnimal CareBabysitting and creative playHelp around the houseCultural exchange and learning opportunities
We live right on the beach in beautiful, north Connemara so we are surrounded on all sides by the ocean, the islands and amazing mountain ranges. It's absolutely perfect for anyone who loves being outdoors, in nature and especially for anyone who likes to be on the water or hill walking/hiking.
My partner and I are both chefs so food, cooking, fishing, vegetable growing and so on are at the centre of everting we do. This would be an ideal place for anyone interested in the culinary side of things and especially for someone who is keen to learn more about kitchen gardening.
Finally, Cleggan (5 mins) and Clifden (15 mins) are two fantastic villages near by that are both buzzing with culture, music, an amazing new film society and thriving communities.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
Mainly we are looking for help with the kids, help around the house + garden and help with the general day-to-day of a busy young family in the countryside! On top of our jobs, our hobbies and a long list of house + garden projects we also don't believe in being run off our feet every single second. So that is why we're looking for some extra help!
We're looking for an energetic, independent and dynamic person (or people) who wants to join in the fun (or mayhem?) of our life on the beach and be an active participant in everything we do. Absolutely, we love our chill time as much as the next, but we always enjoy it so much more after a great days work and activity, whether it's gardening/DIY or getting out into nature.
This would also be an excellent stay for a young couple, travelling together.
Some more details about the help we welcome...
Lily is 2 years old, with bags of personality and incredible energy and keeping an eye on her is one of the main areas we need help. She loves serving imaginary tea, being outside and playing with our dog, Hector.
Rui is 6 and when he's not at school he likes easting pizza, playing with his toys, making a mess and tinkering with his tree house.
We have a small but beautiful kitchen garden + green house which we fertilise only with seaweed from the shore. Growing vegetables, rearing pigs and chickens and fishing for crab, lobster and mackerel are our favourite things to do so if you like that sort fo stuff this could be a great fit for you.
We also have a long list of gardening and landscaping projects to do and would welcome any help in this area as well.Languages

Workaways would have their own private bedroom (double bed) and a shared bathroom.
Mealtimes and food are very much communal activities so be ready to help out with cooking, cleaning up and eventing in between. What else ...
So long as you have a valid EU driver's license you will be insured on our car and will have the full use of it during your time off. Wesport (1hr) and Galway (1hr 15mins) are not far away and between them and the rest of Connemara there is a huge amount to do in the surrounding area. But don't stop there!
