Description
Hello community! We are Ariane and Kirren and we live on a 14-acre property with river views and stunning sunsets in Broadwater, Northern Rivers NSW. The place is gorgeous but we need some help! We have big plans for our new life and dreams here, and they are in their infancy - meaning there is plenty of room to grow and help us kickstart our future with your passion and ideas.
At this stage, we can accept a single, pair or small family in private accommodation. Lots of flexibility for hours.
Things to be aware of before you apply:
We are on tank water and septic. We welcome volunteers who are committed to preserving water and looking after the environment (this means being careful what you put down the drains etc.)
We are in the bush, meaning we share this place with animals. There are birds, spiders, bugs, mosquitos, snakes (although I haven't seen any yet), possums, frogs, cicadas etc.
We are more than happy to share experiences, dinners, outings etc., but we are also juggling lots of things, so independence is important.
We don't currently have internet connected in the guest accommodation but there is good phone signal to hotspot.
In your application, please let us know a little about yourself, if you have any experience in the tasks listed below, how you will make the most of the quiet rural life, and if you have your own transport.Types of help and learning opportunities
Help with Eco ProjectsGardeningDIY and building projectsFarmstay helpHelp around the houseGeneral MaintenanceCultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are a young couple who have recently hung up our travel packs to settle in at home. We loved volunteering through workaway, and hope to give back by providing a nice, natural and peaceful space for others passing through.
Help
We are seeking practical help with all types of farm/property tasks such as mowing, whipper snipping, fencing, weeding, collecting fruit, planting/tending vegetable gardens, weeding, path clearing etc. There are ample opportunities for skilled trades, and general skills. It is all new so the possibilities are endless! There are opportunities for some more creative tasks too. Volunteers should be comfortable getting their hands dirty. The primary focus is general maintenance, but from there we are very happy to explore other ideas for projects.

Volunteers will have a completely independent simple accommodation in a converted shed (bedroom, living, kitchen with stove top, shower, composting toilet, TV, dining room, lounge room etc.) with basic amenities. The "studio" is 50m from the house with a deck and lovely views.
What else ...
We are in a rural location of Broadwater NSW and independent transport would be ideal. The Northern Rivers is a beautiful area and this part is unique surrounded by rivers, beaches and sugar cane fields. There is a local pub a few minutes drive away, a national park and beach 6kms away, Evans Head 14kms away, Lismore and Ballina 25 minutes away, Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads, Bangalow etc. around 45 minutes drive away.
