Description
Hello,
My name is Amy, I’m 53, and I live in the middle west of France.
I bought an old forge house, in the countryside. It’s a great place, peaceful and full of hidden beauties.
There is plenty to do there. I am renovating the house as much as I can, learning on the way. The house is full of things that need to be sorted out and I also need to take care of the garden.
No need to know anything about anything : just to want to try and learn.
Learning a new language or improve my english or spanish would be great to…
Whatever you want to try or enjoy doing will suit me.
Beware that there is no bus or else. If you don’t come with your own car : You will rely either on the bike (I have several, you can borrow them), hitch hiking (current here), me or my neighbors. I always help as much as I can and will pick you up at Parthenay’s bus station anytime.
There are lots of great places to visit less than an hour away around here too : Beautiful Villages, with medieval features, old churches and castles. The famous Poitevin Wasteland, The « Puy du fou », the « Futuroscope » and all.
Niort and Poitiers are the largest towns around.
La Rochelle is close enough to go for a day trip (about 75 min away).
Nantes is less than 2 h away.
Around in the village, there are more animals than humans and nature is beautiful. While walking around, you may encounter rabbits, foxes, deers, ragondins, many different birds of all sizes, bats and more, plus of course all the animals of the farms around.
You’ll also discover some nice ponds, old houses and small castles, around. Parthenay, the nearest town, 8km away, is a nice small medieval city.Types of help and learning opportunities

I will do my best to make your stay as nice as possible and show you around if you wish.

I will gladly help you learn french if you are willing. And if you want to teach me some of your own language, I will really love it too.Accommodation
You’ll have your own room with a computer if needed.
Keep in mind that it is an old house, comfortable enough in some places but less in others (the kitchen looks like one in a camper site, I’m building a new one).
Also, it might be cold in the rooms : I’m trying to go ecological and do not plan to turn the heater on unless it gets too cold. I also believe it’s time to learn to toughen up (I used to live in the south and got weak). In November, I got 12/14°C inside, colder than outside 😂.What else ...
I have several bikes that you are welcome to borrow.

Elle nous a aidées à poncer, enduire et peindre des murs et plafonds avec pas mal de talent pour une débutante.
Bonne continuation à toi, Nina !
She was helpful even with the difficult work that we asked her to do (undoing the crust and joints of stone walls).
She cleaned our old and dusty rooms and attic, as well as the rest of the house.
We were happy to have her at home.
She was very helpful and she did the hard job : taking the crust and joints in old stone walls.
Her company was very well appreciated.

Smart and educated, she is respectful of nature and animals.
Very active and eager to help.
She has skills in many fields and helped us with taking off the crust and joints in stone walls, the cleaning of very dusty rooms in a very old empty house, some gardening...
