    Description

My wife and I live with our five children in a manor house in the beautiful countryside of Saxony. We are an international family with French and South African roots. The kids are between the ages of 1 and 13. We play outside a lot, build treehouses, play sport, and also love boardgames. We usually have an au pair staying with us who helps with the children. We live in a small village surrounded by fields and forests. It is a very special place we would like to share. The house was built in 1775 and overlooks the surroundings. We also have two dogs and two cats.

Travellers will learn about the history of the area which is rich with the musicians who lived in Leipzig such as Bach and Schumann as well as the history of Saxony and the court in Dresden. The German reformation was heavily influence by events in the region as well. We usually have a full house with visiting friends, neighbours and family. There are even stone age burial mounds in the forests behind our home!
You can swim in the quarries nearby to cool off in idyllic surroundings.

    Help

We are mainly looking for help in the large garden of the manor house which requires regular lawn mowing and clearing. We are trying to restore the garden to a more formal 18th century garden to match the manor house. We do not conduct any commercial activities in the garden which just for our private enjoyment.
We will also need help taking care of our 2 lovely dogs and cats for 2 or 3 weeks. Just feeding them and letting them roam the garden a few times a day.
The building projects are mainly sanding and painting windows as a lot need some care.
You are not required to take care of the kids. Although they may force you to play chess or catan!

    Accommodation

You will have your own bedroom with private en-suite bathroom and your own living room on the ground floor. Meals will be together with our family for dinner and breakfast is usually rushed and early before getting the kids to school so no obligation there. We will usually eat lunch together but as my wife and I work from home we sometimes eat quickly in between meetings.

    What else ...

We are 10min drive from the nearest train station which has trains to Leipzig and Dresden. There is lots to see there. A short bike ride away from a number of old stone and/or kaolin quarries that have been filled with water and are now beautiful lakes you can swim in. In the summer we try to go for a swim as often as possible after work and school. We often barbecue outside in the nice weather. We love to share where we live and our home with people who are also drawn to old buildings and to nature.
