Description
I have a non professional kennel of 24 Alaskan Huskies around Fox Lake, 50km north to Whitehorse. With my partner Didier, we used to be competitive mushers but the kennel is recreational for 1 year
This is not a business
I am expecting the workawayer I host to be a part of my family and share my everyday life. Yukon lifestyle very specific due to the weather conditions so if you're not familiar with it there is a lot of things to learn and I will be very happy to be your teacher!.
For the winter, I will prefer someone to stay a long period (October/November to March); for the summer, at least two weeksTypes of help and learning opportunities

I am expecting the workawayer I host to be a part of my family and share my everyday life. Yukon lifestyle very specific due to the weather conditions so if you're not familiar with it there is a lot of things to learn and I will be very happy to be your teacher!. Obviously you will learn how to take care of my 24 sled dogs and myself! :-) I'm doing a lot of things by myself in the property so I will be very happy to share what I know to do and very happy to learn from the worker. I think that we can learn a lot from other people experiences!
Help
I'm living a backcountry lifestyle in the Yukon as a musher so there are various farming tasks to do such as:
- dogs feeding,
- dog yard cleaning
- dog petting (very important!)
There are also some general tasks to do, depending on the season
- firewood cutting (winter)
- snow shovelling (winter)
- gardening (summer)
- general maintenance (painting during the summer for example)Languages spoken
English: Fluent
French: FluentAccommodation
The helper will have its own cosy cabin (with view on the dog yard!), fully furnished, with a woodstove, one bedroom and one kitchen. I will give you a budget for the food and you will cook by yourself. Of course, we will share some meals together!

First of all be sure you will live there a true Yukon lifestyle and you will fall in love with it!
Each day, we had to feed the dogs twice a day and clean the dog yard (straw, poops, snow). We did a lot of others things around the dogs such as meat cutting, dogs… read more
