Description
Hi, we are a young family composed by Berta (26), Niu (4.5) and Arç (2.5).
We are living in an off-grid farm 1 h from BCN. I teach workshops there related to herbs and sustainability and have dogs, chickens, cats and sheeps (self-reliancy path).
We need all kind of different work and are particularly interested in hosting people with building, plumbing or woodcrafting skills, but there are plenty of tasks that are suitable to anyone who's willing to work hard, get their hands dirty and practise reliabilty and responsability.
I'm a very busy single mum who, although being a very social person who'll be happy to introduce you to everything going on in our area, values people who can self-manage their own time and be responsible and with intiative. I generally work around 25% of the time with you all and spend the rest of your schedule with computer, meetings, workshops or field work.
We also need help in the house from time to time (keeping it clean, specially helping with dishes on a daily basis) and cooking nutritious meals with our garden and local produce, since we're loosing the "batch-cooking" dynamic and too often on-the-go.
We try to consume local organic products and to avoid non biodegradable materials. We also apply this mindset to basically everything we can: we try not to use the car too much, to make as many things ourselves/consume the least we can and to not spend much resources in order to live. We live off grid -solar panels and well water only-, so we'll need you to be aware of using few electricity & water. We don't have hot water (so we try to not shower too much and we heat water in pots for that). We're also very much active in the local dynamics (although all living in quite isolated house, we run different initatives togeher with the "neighbors" , on which you could totally participate in despite the language difference -they are generally in catalan but we're happy to translate-.Types of help and learning opportunities

We can assure you, though, that this is a great experience to learn about our real needs and appreciation for our facilities.
We can help you learn spanish and/or catalan.

You'll have your own space with basic kitchen tools and food (and a dry toilet + shower shared with other volunteers). The place is not finished when it comes to insulation and that's why I can't take people there on winter. It's frugal but has carisma and you're welcome to use our living room and porche as a common space.
We barely eat animal products and we like to cook simple yet delicious meals, which are based on organic cereal and different local beans plus some wild or bought veggies. You'll have the ingredients for that in your place/garden (we eat A LOT of wild greens instead of other green veggies, I'll teach you which/where). We'll share some meals when we want to or stablish, too. We'd love to show you some of our local dishes, a few wild experiments...and also to let you bring your country's essence into our kitchen.
It is also very important to us that you respect and understand our cleaning, cooking and living dynamics in the shared spaces (but also to have consideration for the minimum standards in your own private space): we really care about having clean, organized, well-kept, beautiful and peaceful spaces; and that has a specific form to us, that we will gladly show you in order for you to adjust to it.
We also try to not go shopping more than once a week and our economy is very frugal, so we'd also appreciate you to understand our ways of preparing and managing food. We are completely off-grid, so we try to consume little electricity and water. We cannot provide daily showers nor offer connection for high-impedance devices (such as hair-dryers, electric heaters, etc). What else ...
The spot is stunning and on the days off you can visit Barcelona in less than 1h 30 by public transport, and within 1 hours if you have your own car. If you like nature, hiking and animals you'll enjoy a lot being there. We have dogs and cats, which all live in perfect harmony with eachother. You'll be also able to use a small pool in summer!
There's also a piano -which is a little bit untuned, but works- and a violin.
There is public transport that runs during the week, and that you can reach within 30 min from home.A little more information
