Description
Pines, acacia and grass on sand dunes, wetlands, a beautiful and undeveloped area of farms and small summer villages, cattle and turism being the main activities around. There are very lonely, empty, extensive beaches nearby, the finest in Uruguay.
It is about half an hour walk from the Atlantic ocean and fifteen minutes from a pond. There's a small clay pond close to the house, which is sorrounded by forest. Some wild animals, insects, tall grasses, birds, etc.
We built a wood, adobe and thatch roof house. There's a green roof using old moto tires and plastic bottles as an air cushion for the stratus to be detached from the waterproof tarp. Or the fire oven that, while cooking, heats water for kitchen and bathrooms and for a radiant floor in winter. There's also a wetland for sanitation of dirty waters from the house. There's constant plans for eco-construction, trying to arrive to the best housing solution, thinking of using it in the land and also in the area, both to offer an easy eco-house for turism and social housing. The vegetable garden is being redone.
This is a lonely and quiet place for living with instrospection, in harmony with nature. Problems are daily and solutions have to be created. It takes invention and effort to solve things.
