Description
WORK VISA FOR UK ESSENTIAL
We have a small rural estate and a big house in East Perthshire on the Highland Edge. We are three generations of the same family running a rewilding project and ecotourism business. We are involved with conservation projects and writing . There are also flats in the house and cottages on the estate with friendly people, both young and old. We have an interesting beaver reintroduction project with extensive wetlands surrounded by woodlands and an organic farm and hill land. Workawayers have had a good time here in the past. It is a friendly and relaxed situation in a beautiful part of the world.
We are currently looking for live-in helpers to clean the cottages and off-grid accommodation and other tasks that arise. One or two people can be accommodated. During the winter months hours of work are lower as tourism bookings drop away, so a digital nomad happy to work fewer and flexible hours would suit us well.
All applicants must have a right to work in the UK. Minimum wage paid for all hours worked.
You need to be able to ride a quad bike (or ready to learn) and it is a help if you can drive, as cottages are spaced out around the estate. Some child care may be included from time to time.
You will stay in a comfortable bedroom of your own and have access to Wifi.
We usually do get a lot of applicants and do not always have time to reply to all. Apologies if we miss yours.Types of help and learning opportunities

We are friendly and chatty, and like having young people around. The estate is a friendly community and our beavers and rewilding project attract interesting people throughout the year. Staying with us you will learn about life on an estate with an iconic rewilding project.
The castle was begun in the 16th century and has many interesting contents and stories.
We are very happy to help English learners in an informal way. Our estate is of especial interest (and delight) to anyone interested in wildlife and ecology and the area is interesting for archaeology. We are close to the Highlands for hillwalking etc.Host offers payment in line with the minimum wage

Any arrangements should be agreed in advance with your host.
Help
Cleaning to a good standard & laundry. We have three cottages, two yurts and two cabins scattered about the estate. You will need to be able to ride a quad bike to reach the more distant ones. It is an advantage if you drive, but not essential. Also helping our handyman with gardening and other estate work.

Bedrooms in the castle with bathrooms/showers and shared kitchen, dining room for use of staff and some guests on the ground floor. Great if you have your own car but you can borrow a bicycle/ebike (or sometimes a car if you drive) to get to the shops etc. .. Alternatively we can give you a lift when we are going. Many of our Workawayers have also enjoyed the 3 mile walk to the village.
What else ...
You will need warm and waterproof clothes and good walking boots. We are on a walking trail, the Cateran Trail. and close to Alyth Hill where there are many walks and off-road bike tracks. We have an old bicycle we can lend. The town of Alyth is 3 miles away, for shops and pubs. The whole area has interesting archaeology and there are a number of famous castles and whisky distilleries in the wider area, as well as many hills to climb.

Together with a group of other volunteers I constructed two yurts under the leadership of the experienced builder Dick.
