Description
We are a non-profit organization located in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. We began our work here in Puerto Rico rebuilding homes after Hurricane Maira six years ago.
Today we have a established a base on seven acres of lush beautiful farm land. 49.7% of the elderly population in Vega Alta and Vega Baja (the cities we serve) live below the poverty line. It's why we exist. Our Social Kitchen provides healthy meals to the elderly population (60 years or older) residing in public housing and local barrios. It's the first step of our dignity list: meals, medicine, safety, friendship, and support. Our Social Kitchen is run by elderly Puerto Ricans who cooks on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays each week. We're currently serving 101 families (between 144 to 150 lunches a day) with 40+ families to be added early 2023. Our menu is certified by a nutritionist in order to contribute to the physical and emotional well-being of each family. The promotion of good eating habits is an excellent instrument for preventing diseases and improving the health of the population while enjoying delicious meals delivered directly to their homes.
We have an online store with production onsite that fund most of our work , a working farm, sod business, host monthly week long volunteer groups once a month, run a bnb to generate income for the nonprofit among other things....Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are on the ground, working side by side with communities who are struggling, but hungry to work and recover. Our work is in Vega Alta and the surrounding towns. It's close enough to the San Juan area and the mountain region. It's a beach town with great personality and a lot of need still. We work directly with local leaders and workers and eat amazing food every day (usually cooked by our lovely kitchen staff). There is nothing like the hot sun, a new rood for a family, and a shared meal.
