Description
Hi all! We are a U.S.- Ecuadorian couple with 2 young girls and have a 5 acre farm in the jungle region of northern Ecuador. We are right at the base of the Andes, which makes it nice and cool at night, and have an amazing view of a smoking volcano (Reventador). We've got cacao, coffee, pineapple, various fruit trees, and corn. Lots of chickens, turkeys, and eventually more farm animals. We have a small river that runs through our land, go swimming every chance we get. We are in a hotspot for birdwatching, see monkeys daily and an occasional sloth.
We moved here from the U.S. after working and living full time in a city and having our daughter in daycare 10 hours a day. We have found hard work here, plenty of open space and dirt for our girls, more responsibility, less internet and tv, and more peace!
We just finished constructing a second house, tending our crops, and looking for new and passionate projects to start up. We have endless ideas- tourism/bed and breakfast with nature and archeological tours. (We are also right next to a giant rock with petroglyphs!), Starting a sort of summer farm camp for kids, coffee and cacao.Types of help and learning opportunities
