    Description

As mentioned above I am the Centre Director, I lived and studied in England and I have now returned to my country of origin after 25 years, I am realising my dream to educate under privileged children, young people and adults in general, for this reason I have acquired the support of an international organisation for the educational resources to deliver the English lessons. This is a non-profit organisation, as we charge very little to the students, that covers the running costs. We currently have two young people helping us with admin who only work in a part-time basis, two afternoons a week each. We require volunteers to help us teaching as well as with administrative tasks, with a minimum of 15 hours work a week.
Due to the fact that you will be trained by the Director to teach and the time invested in this, it is important that you can also invest at least 6 weeks on this venture.

Mindo is considered a natural paradise, the home of 680 species of birds, surrounded by 3 rivers and beautiful secondary forest, it is a still a quite and rustic town with certain magic that has made many people move from abroad to reside here. The weather is obviously humid as it is the cloud forest, the rainy season is from October to May, the rest of the year rains less and in July and August it is quite dry. People in Mindo are very friendly and helpful. You will benefit learning Spanish in my centre and put it in practice whilst living in the town and meeting with people in Mindo. There is an enjoyable social life and fantastic touristic activities such us, ziplining, tubing, cable cart, etc. Living in Mindo is a very enjoyable experience, there are other charitable foundation who bring vounteers.

I run an English Language Centre in the beautiful cloud forest town of Mindo, I need help running the centre, as I am practically a one woman band, teaching and administering it. I have a postgraduate degree from the UK in Modern Foreign Languages and decided to come back to live in my country after 25 years living in England to set up this centre with charitable purposes as Mindo is a touristic town and the English language teaching is very poor. The two schools have very low level standard of education and the children and young people earn to learn the language. Due to the fact that the main source of income is tourism, the young adults as well as most of the population live from the tourism, consequently they need to learn English to serve their customers better and improve their living standards. I would like to have volunteers that are able to teach English using different platforms that I have from the organisation I represent. I would appreciate some support in administrative tasks as well as I also teach Spanish to tourists and ex-pats. There is no need to have a formal Teaching qualification as I train teachers with my experience of 30 years and having mentored many teachers before.
We require 15 hours of help a week in exchange for accommodation in my apartment currently, as we are building the new centre, which will be ready in 6 months.

    What else ...

There are not cash machines in Mindo for international withdrawals so it is necessary to travel to a town nearby to withdraw money from international banks. So it will be necessary to withdraw money for a longer period of time.
